Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Yeah, that Dortmund team looks a bit strange. Großkreutz has been shit all season, Ginter in midfield? What's with Durm and Gündogan, are they injured? Both didn't even make the bench.

Afaik Ginter is playing because Gündogan, Kehl and Bender are injured.

I knew about Kehl and Bender, must have missed Gündogan's injury. Fair enough then, Ginter can do a job in midfield after all.

He's got awful hair.
I know
but at least its better than his previous one

looked like a chicken

Boom.

What a response after all the crap before the winter break. Malli and de Blasis outstanding, defence mostly solid, midfield in control and finally some efficiency up front.

Looks like both teams (Dortmund probably more so than Leverkusen) are trying to play around the pressing of their opponents by using long balls. Not exactly the prettiest of games..

Kampl's workrate is probably the best thing about the game thus far from Dortmund's perspective.

Almost Leverkusen. Hummels saves it

Seriously, what has happened with Kagawa, I know I give him stick but is he genuinely not a first teamer here?

Today it's hard to tell because he basically missed the entire winter pre season because he was busy playing for the NT.

Still amazed about how fecking bad Dortmunds passing is. 49% successful passes, that's just absolutely awful.

Well they basically don't even attempt any kind of build up play, probably because they are afraid of Leverkusen's pressing. Not sure how smart of an idea that is though since Leverkusen's defense/midfield is vastly superior in terms of physical presence and it's not very hard to imagine one of those long ball's being headed back to a player in red with loads of space.

Fecking hell Hummels saves basically on the line. That should have been the 1-0 for Leverkusen.

49%?! Wow.

49%?! Wow.

Yeah they can't barely string two passes together. Seems like the only thing they managed to slightly improve over the winter break was their defense which seems a bit more stable but the build up game still is a massive problem, they just give the ball away too easily.

Oh yeah and they ended the first half with 47% passing.

Yeah, Dortmund seem to be very content with a draw. Trying to avoid any risk of getting caught while attacking by sacrificing any chance at some control over the game.

Klopp should think about taking off Großkreutz and Ginter imo (probably for Kirch and Mkhitaryan/Kagawa).

Well it's hard to play a passing game when the team seems to be instructed to just hoof it into the final third and fish for something random.

Would that have been a red card for Leno, if the referee saw that he slid out of the penalty box and played the ball with his hand back into the box? Not sure if that counts as preventing a clear goalscoring opportunity? Or is it a yellow and a freekick for Dortmund?

How has Kagawa done since going back to Dortmund? Not very well I'm guessing.

His start looked very good, but aside from the game against Bayern he's looked worse with every passing week. He supposedly had a muscle injury when he joined the club and played through the pain, though I'm not sure if that was confirmed.

Don't think so. Referees are usually very generous towards the defender when it comes to this and Leno was probably still close enough to the ball to kick it away, before a Dortmund player could get a hold of it.

Technically Drmic should've seen his second yellow though (?!) when he moved the ball with his hand after going down in Dortmund's penalty area.

Not sure what the ruling is about keepers handballing outside their area. Think its a yellow?

Don't think so there wasn't any Dortmund player with an immediate chance of getting to the ball imo. But it should have been yellow and a free kick at the edge of the penalty area I think.

Same as with every other player. A yellow unless he prevents a clear cut chance, but there was a Dortmund player standing next to him.

Leverkusen is so inconsistent. Drawing at home with last place :D

According to Sky the pass quote of Dortmund in the first half was 44.8% - the lowest of a Bundesliga team since they detailed measurement in 2004/05.

I think the most important question is, are Dortmund winning the running?

No one thinks that was a pen for Dortmund?
