Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

They could have easily classed it as a less severe incident and just given him 3-4 games though. The definition you posted would allow it.

I don't remember such a severe punishment in a comparable situation at all, usually it's 3, sometimes 4 games.

Well that all depends on how you define less severe. For me that would be the typical touching someone in the face or something comparable where there is no risk of injury. But in this case there is a good amount of force involved.

Interesting formation for Bayern, too:

-----------------------Neuer-------------------
------Benatia------Boateng--Alaba---
-----------------------Alonso------------------
------Weiser---------B31--------Bernat----------
----Robben--------Müller------------Götze----

Without Lewandowski. Benatia in for Dante, Weiser for Rode.

For me it looks like it could be a 3 on the back this time.

FCB/Line up: Neuer - Alonso, Benatia, Robben, Boateng, Bernat, Götze, Müller, Alaba, Weiser, Schweinsteiger

I don't get. Why is Weiser all of a sudden part of the first team? And why do we have to play with a back four? That never worked as good as the back three so far this season. Lewandowski on the bench, a midfield 3 of Schweinsteiger, Alonso, Alaba and only Müller as the striker? If it's Weiser at wingback, then it's just really really defensive. I hate it.

The interaction between Schalke's and Bayern's twitter accounts was top class

Really love midweek football. Can't see Schalke getting anything tonight with so many key players out injured. I missed the news about Huntelaar getting a lengthy ban, ridiculous to ban him for 6 matches for that tackle in my opinion.
Hate midweek football. Icy cold in the stadium at night, and this morning it was -8... think i'll waive my ticket and chose my cozy tv seat... (yes, i'm such a whimp)

Bayern lineup according to Kicker:
Neuer - J. Boateng , Benatia , Alaba - Weiser , Schweinsteiger , Xabi Alonso , Juan Bernat - Robben , M. Götze - T. Müller
Bench:
Reina (Tor),Badstuber,Dante,Gaudino,Rode,Lewandowski,Pizarro

so they predict a back three of Boateng, Benatia, Alaba

Schalke: Giefer, Uchida, Höwedes, Matip, Nastasic, Fuchs, Neustädter, Sam, Boateng, Meyer, Choupo-Moting

I don't get. Why is Weiser all of a sudden part of the first team?

No bloody idea. I still can't see any indication that he can help us in any way. Why not "punish" one of Schweinsteiger or Alonso for their horrendous performance against Wob and give Gaudino some minutes? Can't be more of a risk than Weiser.

A dangerous corner? That means anything's possible today!

Edit: Nevermind. Back to the old shite with the 2nd corner. Good grief.

this lineup is so much better. Cant see us losing. Pep fecked up the match against Wolfsburg, so I dont think that any player really deserves punishment (except maybe Dante).

Dante was simply part of a suicidal defensive plan. I was more angry at the complete capitulation of our midfield to be honest.

Holy crap, we really are in deep shit defensively... red card and penalty again. feck me sideways, what the hell are we doing? What is Pep doing?

Thank god Choupo-Moting takes the weakest shot in living memory.

When player takes penalty likes this I would sub him off immidiately. Idiot. Fair play to Neuer for waiting for him btw.

Just saw it on livescore. Why did Boateng get sent off?

Horrible mistake in defense, exposed in just seconds again, Boateng as last defender with a high risk lunge at his opponent in the box, comes too late. Stonewall red + penalty

it was a terrible individual mistake from the guy who was missing the header and boateng shouldnt tackle like this as well. I dont think that there was anything fundamentally wrong with our defence.

The feck, missed the first 20 minutes of the game. How bad are we playing? How bad was the red card, deserved?

/edit: nevermind, just read the two posts above.

Dante has been shit for years now, he declined in the 2nd half of the treble winning season and has been average at best ever since.

Boateng... I thought those days were behind him..

Quite bad... Alonso yet again without any influence in midfield. The magic seems to have gone well and truly. Not a lot of productive things happening on offense, either.

Agreed that Dante is a shadow of his former self, but he wasn't the one especially at fault in Wob. Benatia would've looked just as shit.

Edit: Götze off for Dante... this is getting weird.

My problem with this line-up is that it gives us less control. If we play it, we need to defend deeper. If we don't defend deeper, then we need the more gung-ho line-up with more ability on the ball. Somehow Pep tries to find something inbetween and it's the worst possible idea. Either trust your tactics and use players who can execute it or change your tactics.

It's nagging me... is Götze still injured? Does Pep not like him? Why would he take off him and not Weiser?

How much I love it when a commentator on Sky sees a replay that shows clearly that the ref was wrong but still insists he was correct.

Erm, Bayern are a man down and bet365 still have them to win at 1.50 . Schalke win is at 7 currently.

Someone call EssexRob and tell him to bet on Schalke, that would make me feel more relaxed.

Seems like he's going ultra defensive now. We have 2 attacking players on the pitch, boring as hell. He should have trusted Alaba at centerback and kept the same team. Unless Robben does something on his own, we won't score.

To be fair to Weiser, he doesn't look as useless as I thought he would be.

Müller would be much more useful if he could play further back and create havoc between the lines more often instead of playing as outright striker. I wonder if we'll ever see that again as long as Pep's coach.

Against Wolfsburg I couldn't figure out any distinct lineup and the players clearly struggled to understand their jobs as well. There wasnt any organisation in our defence; at least in the beginning. This match we started with the linup, that we used until Alaba got injured (3 in the back with Alaba in his hybrid role). I thought that we played decent.

We played our best football without a right wingback though, instead had an additional midfielder in Lahm. Today we started with a 352/433 hybrid.

Frankfurt with the lead against Wolfsburg, at least something positive today.
