Real Sociedad de Fútbol, S.A.D., more commonly referred to as Real Sociedad or La Real, is a Spanish professional sports club in the city of San Sebastián, Basque Country. Football was introduced to San Sebastián in the early 1900s by students and workers returning from Britain. In 1904, they formed the San Sebastian Recreation Club and in 1905 the club competed in the Copa del Rey. In May 1905, the San Sebastian Football Club was formed as a separate branch of the club. In 1909, it applied to enter the Copa del Rey but complications over registration permits saw them compete as Club Ciclista de San Sebastián. This team defeated Club Español de Madrid 3–1 in the final. Out of the confusion, the Sociedad de Futbol was formed on 7 September 1909. Subsequently, the club was a founder member of La Liga in 1929.

Traditionally the club followed a policy (similar to that of its rival Athletic) of signing only Basque players, before signing Republic of Ireland forward John Aldridge in 1989. While a strong Basque contingent has been retained among its players, nowadays both non-Basque Spaniards and foreign players are represented at the club. Its youth section subsequent to the all-Basque era has still been very successful in developing internationally renowned players, such as World Cup winners Xabi Alonso and Antoine Griezmann. Real Sociedad won the Liga title in 1980–81 and 1981–82, and last finished runner-up in 2002–03. The club has also won the Copa del Rey twice, in 1909 and 1987. It contests the Basque derby against rivals Athletic Bilbao, and plays its home games at the Anoeta Stadium.

Not hopeful. The attacking players are awful & the manager's go to response is "I don't know".

On the plus side, this sorry season will be over in just over a week.

Early kick off. Which members of the Caf will tune in at around 7.30 and wonder what's going on?

Really the worst preparation today with several players looking absolutely knackered but hopefully we find a way. It's hard not to be pessimistic.

Loss should also be the last of this manager.

Sociedad are supposedly poor in their league so expecting an uptick in performances.

What’s the point anymore under this system? We get out played, out fought, out classed in every game under Amorim. If we want to anything from the EL we need a new man in charge.
Easy win for the Spaniards this will be.

We’ll lose. Say what we like about Sociedad not being the best in La Liga, this isnt yesteryear, we are one of the worst teams in the premier league with a dysfunctional squad and every players confidence and form at dogshit levels. Probably wont bother watching it

Seems like they played the majority of their match against Barca with 10 men so they might be a bit leggy too. This is the only competition left that could salvage something from this season so hopefully the players can find something, anything, and put in a performance for this.

Surprisingly confident. Just hope we’re wise to the Spanish teams play acting..

Our ceiling in this competition is probably the quarter-finals, so I'm not sure the outcome of this round really matters much.

We certainly won't win this match, but we might get out of there with a draw.

Yeah, surely no-one believes we have any shot at all at winning the tournament.

Might as well get it over with. And by ‘it’ I mean the Amorim tenure.

They better do well somehow. I'm going to the tie at OT.
Imagine a heavy loss before that..... sigh

Is anyone coming back from injury for this?

Would be delighted to get out of there with a draw.
    Zirkzee
    Garnacho Eriksen
    Dorgu Bruno Ugarte Dalot
    Yoro Maguire Mazraoui
    Onana

De Ligt seemed overly knackered from today, think he'll need a rest. The rest is an easy pick. Under no circumstances should Hojlund be playing.

Our season could be over by the 13th of March.

Imagine that, two fecking months of meaningless league matches.
Can't arrive soon enough. I was done with the season the day Amad went down. Has been a complete waste of 7 months of my life and I need a break

    Zirkzee
    Garnacho Eriksen
    Dorgu Bruno Ugarte Dalot
    Yoro Maguire Mazraoui
    Onana

I thought of Casemiro-Ugarte pairing in the middle but we've got league game vs Arsenal couple days later so not sure both will start, probably Casemiro to come on instead of Ugarte at some point.

We know Amad and Martinez are out long term but it's frustrating having all these players out now. Collyer, Mount, Mainoo + Shaw, Evans, Bayindir. We don't even know when they are back.

If De Ligts fit I’d start him but he looked fecked after Fulham.

    Onana
    Yoro - Maguire - Heaven
    Mazraoui - Casemiro - Ugarte - Dorgu
    Bruno
    Zirkzee - Obi

We lose this tie and that’s pretty much it. No football to enjoy again until August.

Win the tie and I’ll be confident we can win the cup

    Manchester United 8 - 1 Real Sociedad
