Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

The results today would have been perfect for Dortmund to close the gap to the top 4. Schalke lost, Leverkusen against Gladbach tomorrow, so at least one of them will also drop points. Most midtable teams finished their games with a draw. A win today and they could have gone into the game against Wolfsburg on Wednesday with a real chance to finish the year with a shot at the CL spots. And then Schieber scored .

I am ever so sightly displeased by both my team and the referee's performances.

"Schießt der Schieber ein Tor, singen alle im Chor, ihr habt die schlechteste Abwehr der Welt"

A song that the BVB-fans had for striker Schieber...
If Schieber shoots a goal, all sing together: "you have the worst defense in the world..."

Sometimes it backfires...

How was that a penalty? I know it doesn't matter because Drobny saved it, but this was the 2nd dodgy penalty we conceded in the space of a few weeks.

Christ, just seen the highlights of the HBSC - Dortmund game, Schieber scoring a goal against BVB, incredible  BVB's defending for that goal was shocking though.

Hertha wins against Dortmund's hoofball strategy. Great performances from Brooks and Kraft.

Was exactly the same thing I've said about them when they won their last league game 1-0 but I was told that they've been doing that seasons before and it was ok. Well not really, amount of hoof (that's pretty inaccurate on top of that) as of recent is staggering.

Oh, and shame about Hummels, terrible defending for the goal and then doesn't want to go to the away fans. True captain. Add those comments from the beggining of the season about Weidenfeller's shite intervention for the free-kick goal et voila, a very ugly image of him is painted.

Also, that Schalke incident, Jesus

 Just realised that Dortmund are only 2 points from last place. I know they sold their best players but come on...

Klopp out soon?

Edit - They can go joint last if stuttgart win. Amazing.

They also can go near the top 6 with 2 wins. Its all so close.
IF they win their last 2 next week all will be fine.

What the hell is happening at Dortmund?

And more importantly... How has our old mate Bendtner been going?

Went to Ingolstadt Kaiserslautern yesterday and saw the home team extend their lead at the top of the 2. Bundesliga. I really wonder how they will cope if the go up, or rather, how much money Audi will pump into them to try and keep them up. I seem to remember that Audi is one of Bayern's biggest sponsors/owners.........any likely conflict of interest?

Hecking, Wolfsburg's manager, recently said 'he only limits himself' and of course he often didn't make the matchday squad in recent weeks, but he played 5 minutes yesterday.

Don't know what is wrong with him, he has enough talent (in my opinion) to become a quality forward... I guess he's just not motivated enough.

I mentioned the same once before as well. I'm not sure how the rules regarding owners being involved in more than one club in the same league are in German football. As far as I know, UEFA doesn't allow it in their competitions. There's of course the question if Audi being shareholder at Bayern counts in that regard or not, but it's a worrying development. If you include VW in that discussion as well, after all Audi still belongs to VW, then the influence of VW/Audi in German football becomes too big for my taste. The club already made a statement that they plan to invest in the winter to keep the club at the top. I wouldn't rule it out that they can make a similar development to Augsburg under Seinsch's presidency.

How was the atmosphere at the game? I was surprised to read that Ingolstadt had more than 13k attendance.

It was a great atmosphere actually, but I have to say that the FCK fans were loudest. They filled their block and were really vocal. The Ingolstadt fans are a little bit reserved in comparison, but I guess they are more used to cheering for ERC indoors where it sounds so much louder! That said, they were not bad at all. I sat in the familien block in the corner of the ground with my kid so had a pretty good position near the main block of 04 fans behind the goal. It's a nice stadium actually - so intimate compared to Bayern. I guess they will find the extra 2k fans to sell out most games if they get promoted - I'll try and be one of them I think.

Audi has a minority share of 8.33 % at Bayern with Adidas and Allianz having the same kind of share. Why should there be a conflict of interrests?

The coach - Hasenhüttl - has played as one of the three seniors for Bayern's U23 team when Schweinsteiger and Lahm have been there. Thomas Linke is their sports director.

He came to visit :D Perfect timing, just before the Stuttgart game

Kaiserslautern? Well they got plenty of reason to cry, obviously. Ingolstadt, on the other hand, is the Hoffenheim of the south, not much of a grown fan culture there, and no 1st league experience.

I actually wonder if DFB allows the same sponsor to support 2 different clubs, btw.

Allegedly, Dortmund is chasing Dybala from Palermo for a winter break signing. Anyone ever heard of him?

Never before this week to be honest. When you read the German media you hear some praise from Italy, Milan chasing him and so on.
Just turned 21. Klopp and the club find these gems, great players who are, due to young age or a bit smaller clubs, not that greatly on the map.
Even their 27! million buy Mkhitaryan was a bit under the radar. Love the work they do their(not the attitude sometimes) and wish them 2 victories to close the year.
20 points would look good, Im sure of it.

Apparently Arsenal are too... According to the usual rumour mongers.

From what I've read - on an Arsenal forum - he's likened to Aguero and seems to be a highly rated forward.

I think Dortmund needs some defensive reinforcements, but then again I have also heard they struggle to put chances into goals.

9 losses, jesus and we thought we had it bad last year. Results are favoring us if we ever have a chance to get Reus or Hummels though.

Would rather Reus than hummels, Hummels has been woeful and shown a lack of character recently.

They also are linked to some Reus-lookalike from Salzburg. Are they panicking?

otoh, AZ munich rumours that Bayern may chase Raheem Sterling if they don't get Reus

CL is very important for them. Like most clubs. I wouldnt call spending 10 to 20 million in the winter break panicking. The team isnt rolling atm and they try to fix it.
Again; lets wait this week. 20 points and a few other results their way(which is very possible with some direct CL places fights) and the world looks alot better.

Kevin Kampl is one of the outstanding players in the austrian Bundesliga. That in itself doesn't say shit, I know, but he is a very exciting player and so far Dortmund seem to have fared best when they bought exciting, but overlooked talent for cheap.

Kevin Kampl is a very exciting player to watch, would love to see him in the Bundesliga. I read that he was apparently seen crying after their last game which leads to speculation that he's off in the winter and Dortmund have been linked with him.

I would be cautious about how good he really is. He comes out of the youth of Bayer04.
In Germany he did not even make it in the lower leagues...

His transfers...

12/13 31.08.2012 RB Salzburg
12/13 01.07.2012 VfR Aalen
11/12 01.07.2011 VfL Osnabrück
10/11 01.01.2011 Bay. Leverkusen
10/11 30.08.2010 Greuther Fürth
09/10 08.03.2010 Leverkusen II from Bay. Leverkusen

Some players explode later, see Reus or Ribery. We will see. If Dortmund sees something in him....

so funny that Bayern often play with only 1 actual deep central midfielder and yet it works. I love the way Pep experiments with lineups and challenges the status quo so-to-speak.
