Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

As an English fan of the Bundesliga, Can I ask why Hamburg fans are hated so much in general?

I don't dislike their fans, I dislike the club. They are just a disgrace in the last couple of years. So much wasted potential.

Me and my dad had a run-in with their Ultras, nearly got to a scrap. Some of the worst cnuts around, and I'm including Eintracht and Lautern fans in that.

So you're implying that because you didn't get along with a few Ultras means that all HSV fans are like that?

----

Zinnbauer will be the new manager from now on, he's been working with the U23 team before and managed 8 wins in 8 games so far. Before this season our U23 team was close to being relegated as well, but Zinnbauer did a great job there so far.

I'm not implying anything, I simply gave my reason for disliking your club.

Hamburg is the only remaining club that was part of the first Bundesliga season in 63/64 and never got relegated. Bayern wasn't allowed to play in the Bundesliga back then, because the German football league decided that two clubs from one city doesn't make sense and our blue neighbours 1860 München were the better team back then, so they got the Munich spot. We had to start in the 2nd division and got promoted to the Bundesliga two years later. So at the moment, Hamburg is the 'dinosaur' in the league and they have a clock in the stadium showing how many years/days/hours/minutes and fecking seconds they are in the Bundesliga, seriously they count the seconds .

No one would really care if the club wasn't so badly run and managed to live up to their potential, but they are shit for decades now despite huge financial potential and really don't deserve to be proud of that 'dinosaur' tag anymore.

I know it's a bit petty, but I don't care. I really dislike the club and their fans (sorry gofelx, you seem alright on here, but you're clearly the exception), so I would love to see that clock stop.

 Thats so cool though, would be better if the record actually meant something but still that picture(atmosphere wise) looks awesome.

Lots of people are just annoyed by many Hamburg fans using this record as a comeback line in discussions about football like "well, at least we never got relegated". I never peed my pants, so what? Wouldn't change my life right now if I used to be my pants when I was small. It really is of no relevance that Hamburg never had to play in the second division, it doesn't put them above clubs like Dortmund or Bayern who played there for a short time 40 or 50 years ago. It's okay to be proud of the records your club has achieved, but its annoying how Hamburg presents this record as something hugely important when it is not. You don't see Gladbach putting on a clock that shows how long they have held the record for the highest victory in Bundesliga history. Of course it's a marketing strategy, but as you know, people are stupid, so fans tend to believe that this record actually means something, going as far as to say that Hamburg is the club in Germany with the most tradition, which is of course bollocks.

A lot of people are also pissed at HSV for staying in the Bundesliga all this time with its poor management while clubs that clearly use their resources much better and do an all around better job have to get relegated every year. To say it straight forward: That club just doesn't deserve to be in the Bundesliga the way it's being handled. It's an incredible waste of potential and just plain sad.

This is one of the worst posts I've seen from you, worse than the post of you saying that with Löw we'll never win a major title.

See me care, you claim to be a Hamburg fan, but don't even seem to know your fanbase seeing how you are trying to use transfermarkt as an argument. Can't take you serious anyway.

The feck!? Ye I am just the average glory hunting Hamburg plastic fan. :boring:

Aren't they the team who holds the seasonal record for most goals conceded with over a 100, worst goal difference with over 90 and least points with barely 10 points (with the new 3 points per win rule) or so?

It's really crazy. I think the only time I can remember that a team "managed" to get under 20 points was Freiburg about a decade ago.
A friend of mine was a Freiburg fan. He hated that season.
They have more records than that. I love them. They piqued my interest a year or so ago.

As the worst team in Bundesliga history, SC Tasmania 1900 Berlin is the holder of a number of dubious records:

  • 52nd out of 52 in all-time Bundesliga standings
  • fewest points collected in a season: 8 points under the old scoring method of two points for a win, 10 points under today's system that allows three points for a win
  • fewest wins in a season: 2 (tied by Wuppertaler SV in 1974–1975)
  • most defeats in a season: 28
  • only Bundesliga team without an away win
  • longest winless streak: 31 games (14 August 1965 – 21 May 1966)
  • most home defeats in a season: 12
  • most consecutive home losses: 8 games (28 August 1965 – 8 December 1965), tied by Hansa Rostock in 2004–05
  • most consecutive losses: 10 matches, tied by Arminia Bielefeld in 1999–2000, whose fans began to derisively chant "Tasmania Bielefeld!" during the record tying match
  • worst ever goals for-and-against: 15–108
  • fewest ever goals for a team's leading scorer: 4 by Wulf-Ingo Usbeck
  • biggest losing margin at home: 0–9 to Meidericher SV (26 March 1966); this record was almost tied when Bayer Leverkusen won at SSV Ulm 1846 9–1 in 2000, Leandro Fonseca scored for Ulm in injury time
  • until 1993, most minutes played without scoring a goal: 831 minutes (2 October 1965 – 11 December 1965), since surpassed by 1. FC Saarbrücken and 1. FC Köln
  • smallest ever crowd at a Bundesliga game: 827 (15 January 1966 against Borussia Mönchengladbach) after crowds of 81,500 at their first home game and 70,000 at their second

The last record says it all really

God, just imagine you have to play in an empty stadium in front of 800 people instead of 80,000 because you're just unbelievable shit.

Tbh I never heard that from actual fans in real life.
Apart from that it's just a shit argument because there are quite a few teams which never got relegated:
HSV (52 years in the Bundesliga), Bayern (50), Leverkusen (36), Wolfsburg (18), Hoffenheim (7), Augsburg (4)
And the only teams from that list which are likely candidates to go down in the next few years are Hamburg and Augsburg IMO.

A lot of people are also pissed at HSV for staying in the Bundesliga all this time with its poor management while clubs that clearly use their resources much better and do an all around better job have to get relegated every year. I think this is really the reason why most people became to hate Hamburg (the club not the fans) recently.
Similar to Stuttgart (who aren't quite as bad in that regard) they waste so much potential. They play against relegation recently instead of fighting for spots in Europe.

Matchday 04, 19/09/14 - 21/09/14
#FCBayern line-up: Neuer - Dante, Robben, Shaqiri, Rafinha, Pizarro, Boateng, Bernat, Lahm (C), Alaba, Hojbjerg

#HSV line-up: Drobny - Diekmeier, Westermann, Djourou, Ostrzolek - Behrami, Arslan - Müller, Holtby, Stieber - Lasogga

Pizarro against Hamburg  , are you scared @gofelx . I always love when he plays. Also Alaba plays his 150th competitive game for Bayern today. Not bad for a 22 year old. And Hojbjerg finally gets another start, definitely deserves it even though he was a bit overshadowed by Gaudino in the first few weeks of the season. Really looking forward to the game now.

The bench looks good, too...

Reina - Alonso, Benatia, Lewandowski, Götze, Rode, Müller

Feels like he's been around forever, doesn't it? He'll probably go down as the greatest austrian footballer ever.

I cant think of any 22 year ever old who flits from LB to LW to CM so comfortably. It's unreal

Robben out. Got problems with his muscles during the warm-up. Müller in.
btw: Is marcell Jansen ever not injured? I mean he must be the most injured player in the world.

Who is considered the best so far? Sindelar, Krankl? Prohaska maybe?

Turns out it's Müller instead of Robben (according to Sky).

Yeah, Pedro posted above that Robben got injured during the warm-up. *sigh* . I hope we get a more or less injury free second half of the season, I really think we deserve that after all the bad luck we had in 2014.

Who is considered the best so far? Sindelar, Krankl? Prohaska maybe?

Yeah, those three are usually in contention. Sindelar is more of a mythical figure to me since I've never seen him play or met anybody who saw him live while Krankl vs. Prohaska is more of a battle between clubs and fans (Rapid vs. Austria). I'd also add Happel since he was not only a great player, but one of the greatest coaches of all time as well.

In November 2003, Prohaska was selected as the Golden Player of Austria by the Austrian Football Association as their most outstanding player of the past 50 years.[3] In August 2004, he was voted the Austrian Footballer of the Century as the Austrian Football Association celebrated its 100th anniversary.[4]

If Keller makes it to the Derby we might see riots.
