Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Schalke's management has once again been abysmal. For over a year the name of di Matteo has been linked to the club in the media, for at least that long it has been clear that Jens Keller is not a long-term solution, he's not able to teach the team a coherent playing philosophy. What were they afraid of? The media and fans would have probably applauded them for sacking Keller, so there was no pressure from that direction. The only explanation which makes sense, is that they were waiting for Thomas Tuchel to become available. Now they went such a long way with Keller and end up hiring di Matteo eight months before Tuchel is finally on the market. This club is so seriously mismanaged, it makes my head hurt. I'm obviously willing to give di Matteo the benefit of the doubt, yet I can't imagine he has the quality of the former Mainz05 coach.

Neustädter is a shadow of his former self though, still quite decent, but he was a beast at Gladbach. And yes, Held has a terrible record, not sure it's all his fault. Problem is that he needs a competent manager who gives good input when it comes to transfers. Look at Zorc's record at Dortmund before Klopp came along. It's much easier to buy the right players if you know where they have to fit in. That's why Tuchel would have been a great fit in my opinion, the guy has a clear idea how he wants to play the game and is actually able to explain it well, which makes the job for a director of football much easier.

I dont rate Zorc one bit. He is a piss poor DoF, who is just executing the administrative side of transfers. I dont think he has any say against Klopp or Watzke. That said, Dortmund doesnt need a strong manager at the moment, so Susi is still a decent fit because he doesnt ask for a strong or public position.

Held promoted Keller, so you can hardly give him a pass on this one either. If he doesnt get enough input regarding transfers, he should have sacked him after last season. In fact that makes him look worse. His decision making regarding manager might be even worse than his transfer business.

Do you have any insight into Dortmund's process?

Bayern commented the transfer of Di Matteo to Schalke on their homepage...

Dienstag, 7. Oktober: Ex-Chelsea-Coach Roberto Di Matteo muss fürs „Finale dahoam“ büßen und wird Schalke-Trainer. Nun begegnen wir ihm zwangsläufig wieder. Uns schlägt man nicht ungestraft.

Tuesday, October 7th: Ex-Chelsea-Manager Roberto Di Matteo has to purge for the "Finale dahoam" and gets Schalke-Manager. Now we inevitably meet again. You do not beat us unpunished...:D

The next Messi? :p

Meanwhile Augsburg lost 7:1(!) against VFR Aalen, even though Augsburg played with most of their first team players.

Focus reporting that Bayern made a revenue of 528 million last season.
According to the magazine we paid the last 75 million off the Allianz Arena.
What a year for us; merchandising rised above 100 million; we sold 1,2 million shirts.
The 110 of the Allianz deal were pure gold for the club. And those 110, who were made in 2014, arent even in that 528!
Equity ratio went up to 76 % from 70%.

We are debt free and truly the richest club in the world.

And working on dethroning Real Madrid as the most arrogant club in the world....

I'm still waiting for a post in which anchan didn't make extensive use of superlatives.

Well tbh completely honest considering that Bayern neither has a similarly lucrative TV deal nor demands the same ticket prices as we or Real do.

If they can translate the financial success into a few more CL trophies we might actually see them overtake us and Real.

i'd like to add that there's the spanish-speaking world, and then there's the english-speaking world (aka everybody). i struggle to see bundesliga/bayern compete on the highest levels of marketability, outreach and/or global appeal. still they're a flourishing enterprise and they do everything the right way.

Hermann Gerland looks like he's had more than one Mass... or did he sneak his famous "Coke Light with Whiskey" into the tent?

anchan´s posts are always the best. I also enjoy how upset he gets if anyone ever dares to questions his exaggerations.

Yeah, he does have a way to make you feel real special

Being called an agenda driven hater is a rare compliment I get on this site, so I enjoy it every time.

My personal favourite was in post-world cup champion euphoria when Anchan declared Gotze the best player in the world or ever, or at least that he was well on his way to being so. Tagline worthy.

Yeah, yeah. Reading can be hard. He was and is on his way to something very special. Perhaps the best. And I will have fun founding out. As a football fan should have with one of his players. ;)

And I will have fun telling you this truth. ;)

And people who speak English can only be fans of English clubs? Not really...
You need stars, trophies and great stories. After 2 years with a treble and a WC win the league and specially Bayern has got it all.
People dont care if you are an English club, a German one or a Spanish. Most at least.
You need to attract them with things German football and specially Bayern has got in big numbers atm.
Real is the big fish. They are a level above anyone else. We,Barca and United can catch up so. And like Sammer said; our aim should and is to become Nr. 1.

Matchday 08, 17/10/14 - 19/10/14: Gündoğan returns
Gündogan starts for Dortmund against Köln! Bold from Klopp there, hope he is ready.

Somehow I wish him a good comeback even if I wish Dortmund no luck... There is enough players with longtime injuries lately that had throwbacks...

I really hope Gündogan does well.

FCB / Line up: Neuer - Alonso, Dante, Robben, Rafinha, Boateng, Götze, Lahm (K), Müller, Alaba, Hojbjerg
Interesting line-up.

No Gaudino, not even on the bench! :(

Brandt is back from injury for Leverkusen.

He is a 17-year-old U19-player. To give Höjbjerg playing time is more important- Gaudino still has so much time. Today he gets it a full team an not in an experimental team.

Sod that. Gaudino looks a better player imo. Besides could always shift Rode off the bench, it's at home against Bremen, you'll cruise the game.

Alaba's role in the team is so strange  . I kinda like it though.

How fecking brilliant is Alonso? I either underrated him so far in his career or Pep's style gets the best out of him, but he's easily the best midfielder in Europe so far this season. He's absolutely fan-fecking-tastic.

Also Bremen's wall

dortmund are playing the long-awaited axis of hummels - gündogan - mkhitaryan - kagawa - reus

and they suck balls atm. but let's give them some (non-existing) time to mingle.

mkhitaryan is yet to complete a single pass to a team-mate.

hummels is nothing but a liability at the moment.

my goodness Dortmunds defending was shocking on that goal
