Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Yeah, he's suspended for 1 game after he saw his 5th yellow last week. I'm sure he'll leave in the summer though.

What on earth they did to Kacar, when he was in Vojvodina always tho he is decent player but then injuries just destroyed him. Now it looks like he is scored in last 5 games or something.

I really hope Bayern will extend Weiser's contract.

Bundesliga is amazing

Last 5 right now:

33 Stuttgart
32 Freiburg
32 Hannover 96
32 Hamburger SV
32 Paderborn

(last 2 go down, and the third to play-offs)

Im still praying for HSV to go down. Please god hear me! Would be the most deserved relegation in Bundesliga history!

I would miss the yearly goal festival whenever they come to the Allianz Arena...
Hamburg is so much drama... - you do not really catch it when they are in the 2nd league. It is like with 1860 where the drama - apart from in the Munich media - is not really in the German media.

Hannover and Paderborn are my wish vor 17th and 18th. Maybe Hertha still getting into it for the 16th.

Bayern!!! 1-2 to Freiburg late on.

Actually - fine. I like Freiburg to stay up. Bayern has already won the league - who cares.

Augsburg will be in the Euroleague next season - no matter what happens next week or in the Cup final. (there goal difference is much better than that of Bremen)

Dortmund will be out of it when they loose next week against Bremen - and loose the Cup final against Wolfsburg. If they win next week against Bremen, they will be in no matter what. If they loose against Bremen and win the Cup final they will be in it, too.

True but that's 4 genuine losses in the last 5 games. The worst form of Guardiola's career. 5 in 6 if you include the draw and penalty cup exit to Dortmund.

What did you expect? Players that have nothing to go for after a hard match on Tuesday against a team that fights for their lives? Just shows that they are humans. Some forget that in the treble season we had a full B-team that did matches like this and they were all eager to show it. Not youngsters but veterans like van Buyten, Tymoschuk, Pizarro or Gomez and Gustavo. What hurts are the matches that counted like the match against Dortmund and the match in Barcelona.

@Blackwidow indeed. The loss to Barca is the only one that really matters. Can't call the Dortmund exit a "loss" really.

Not the way they wanted the season to end, derailing in such alarming fashion on the record books. Will hope to do better against Mainz and correct the rut.

Hoffenheim - Hertha (I am not sure if Hertha ain't even save because of the other matches)
Hannover - Freiburg
Hamburg - Schalke (Schalke has the EuroLeague secured and does not fight for anything)
Paderborn - Stuttgart

*Hertha is out of it as one of the direct duels will be always behind them and Hamburg has a -12 goal difference.

Dortmund was pure slapstick. I still think that part of the last weeks is the trouble to put all the midfielders that came back into the midfield again. But that is my own view.

Mainz next week is the party match. That they will not loose especially as Mainz does not have anything to fight for.

No they are not out completely. Hannover/Freiburg tie, Stuttgart wins and they lose by at least two goals, they are 16th.

I certainly agree with that. Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Alonso and Thiago all had to play too many minutes considering their form/fitness.

Good performance and a nice win in the last home game of the season. My personal highlight of the game was Malli owning Hector(?) with an elastico. Good goals for Koo and Jairo too.

Bayern with another defeat, in that kind of form we have a decent chance of getting something from the last game of the season. I certainly hope we do, it will be my first time in the Allianz Arena, with a few Bayern supporting relatives coming along.

Has anyone watched the Schalke:Paderborn match? I only saw the highlights, but those really showed the cruel side of football. Seemed like Paderborn completely outplayed Schalke to the point that they could've served them with a decent hammering and then they lose the game (and thus most likely their spot in the league) to a last minute own goal.

It also seems like Schalke's bosses are finally getting some heat for their years of terrible management. Personally I think Heldt, Tönnies and di Matteo all earned their sacking, but I expect Heldt to be the only casualty of the mob.

I fully expect Schalke to gift Hamburg the three points next saturday, we can only hope that Freiburg and Hannover draw and Stuttgart (wouldn't mind to see them going down either though) win to make up for it. In that (not terribly unlikely) scenario even Hertha could still go down to the play-off match if they lose by a 2+ goal margin.

Spon have listed the conditions for each team to survive [German]: http://www.spiegel.de/sport/fussbal..._medium=medium#utm_campaign=plista&ref=plista

Insane relegation fight, will be a spectacular last round. I think HSV will beat Schalke and will still getting relegated, which will be great to watch
Can also see Hertha getting to the relegation place, which sounds kind of mad, but Bundesliga has been like that all season, I expect a weird last round too.

Freiburg - Hannover draw, Stuttgart win, HSV win, then it depends on what Hertha is doing, Hoffenheim doesn't have anything to play for anymore, so can see them getting at least a draw.
My prediction: Paderborn and HSV down, Hannover relegation

It makes no sense to fire Heldt and keep Di Matteo in my opinion. If the club trusts the manager, then the Director of Football who brought him in should be allowed to stay.

That would be so so so sweet.

Why? It's not like they came in a package. And Heldt's job isn't just appointing coaches. Imo most of his signings turned out badly and thus I would look for some one else to spend the club's money.
Given how Schalke have performed unter di Matteo there just has to be a certain amount of doubt about his future, it's probably more about whether or not they can find a highly regarded/competent replacement.

It is the last match - with the trophy celebrations. So Bayern will for sure give it a go. They now have the rest they might have needed in the last weeks. Pep gave them three days off.

Surely the managers were involved in the transfers? It's not solely Heldt's fault. If they're still happy with Di Matteo and both work well together, then I don't see how replacing Heldt will change all that much. The transfers aren't really that important anyway, they have so many potentially great young players in the team and need a manager who can develop them well. That'll define the next 2-3 years. The 10m wasted on Boateng and the 2m wasted on Sam aren't really such a big deal despite their silly wages.

Well I think the €10-15m transfers fees + €9-12m yearly wages are a huge deal for Schalke, who have been struggling to staff key positions of their first XI for years now. And it's not like those two are the only flops he bought, infact it's hard to name a key player he brought in.
Sure you can shift some of the blame to the coaches, but at the same time those were his signings too.
Even with all their youngsters they still need a frame of experienced/consistent players around them if they want to challenge for top positions, especially in the Ruhrgebiet where Dortmund is just a couple of Minutes away and happy to poach their prospects. If they keep going like this they're going to be the next HSV.

Hopefully the last match of 1860 in the Allianz Arena...

But - 2nd league match against Nürnberg... - 65.000 visitors...

Yeah, they need both. The problem is, Heldt with a capable manager who tells him what kind of personalities he wants at the club could work. Di Matteo with a new Director of Football would mean they continue to fail to develop all their talented young players and that's the far bigger issue in my opinion. Get rid of both would be by far the best solution.

Nürnberg  It's a bit weird to celebrate a Nürnberg win, but it is fecking awesome. Hope they hang on now.

/edit:
The feck happened? Why did my ticker show a goal for Nürnberg for 5 minutes and now it's back to 2-1 for 1860?

If you let di Matteo dictate the signings then you might as well ask what value as a dof Heldt has in the first place. Obviously a new dof would bring some risks, but at the same time you would get rid of the certainty of Heldt's limitations. And why should it be certain that Schalke's youth would suffer? Even Tönnies knows the value of the Knappenschmiede, I imagine getting the best out of it would be a key requirement for any potential Heldt replacement and thus be part of the very first strategical talks.
I agree that Schalke should sack them both (Tönnies should go too imo or at least stick to his actual position in the club). But I reckon Heldt will be Tönnies' pawn sacrifice and then they are going to sign Khedira with some noise and hope that it will be enough to calm the fans. Even if they decide to fire di Matteo the market doesn't seem to promising atm. Favre and Weinzierl are tied down by their contracts, Klopp surely won't go there and Tuchel just signed for Dortmund, aside from Lewandowski (who supposedly doesn't like the media circus) there aren't any successful coaches left for them to hire.

Why the hate for 60? I get that they are a bit of a joke in terms of leadership but isn't a strong local rival one of the best things in modern football?

But they aren't strong? They're fecking shit, incredibly annoying and it's beautiful to see that finding a rich investor made them even worse than they were before. The main reason why I want them to go down is so that they move out of the Allianz Arena for good. I want huge Bayern signs everywhere, I want red seats with Mia san mia written on them. I want all the concrete covered with things that give the stadium more character instead of the neutral grey. It should feel like it's our own stadium and all that can't happen unless we get rid of our annoying neighbours.

It shouldn't be the case that one of them dictates the signings, they should work together in that regard. The reason why I believe that Schalke's youth would suffer is because Di Matteo so far hasn't done anything to make me believe he knows how to use them properly, let alone develop them further. Max Meyer should think about leaving, if Di Matteo stays. It doesn't matter that Tönnies knows the value of their youth academy or that a replacement for Heldt has to take it into account when signing players. The manager is by far the most important person when it comes to trusting and developing young players and he failed miserably so far.

The 2:1 must have been a real bad call from the referee...

The relegation race in Bundesliga 2 is as close as the one in the first. Six clubs on 35, 36, 36, 37, 37 and 38 points fighting against rank 16 and 17.
