Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

this season is seriously fecked up. We always had injury problems for some time now but thats just ridiculous. Yesterday was a nightmare. Robben back to his former self, I guess.

Lewandowski might not make it for the Barca match as well. Concussion, broken upper jaw and nose. He doesn't remember the match nearly at all (including his goal that was scored about 40 minutes prior to his clash with Langerak).

His former self would have been injured throughout the first half of the season and saved our ass with terrific performances in the 2nd injury-free half of the season. This version of Robben is the worst of all time.

I'm actually pretty envious of that lineup posted on the previous page

I´d laugh if it wasnt so sad. He steps on the pitch after returning from an injury just to get injured again - without being hit/tackled. Lewandowski really stepped up during the last weeks. He was magnificent and now he is getting injured as well. Who is next? At this point I wouldnt be surprised if Pep picks up an injury. (obviously Schweinsteiger and Thiago)

I'm shit scared that Boateng is next, now that Benatia has returned. It's not worth it to start worrying about Thiago or Schweinsteiger, I expect at least one of them to be out for the Barca game anyway. Everything else would be a huge surprise.

Amidst all this madness: Thank god Müller is made of nothing but skin, bones and iron.

He was injured for a staggering 13 days and missed a grand total of 3 games due to injury in his entire career..

Rummenigge said Lewandowski will be ready to play and that he's certain of that.

Lewandowski
Götze Thiago Müller
Alonso Schweinsteiger
Bernat Benatia Boateng Lahm
Neuer

Don't know what the fuss is all about. Robben aside that's more or less full strength without much loss of quality. Benatia instead of Badstuber, Bernat instead of Alaba and Götze instead of Ribery isn't exactly like replacing Messi with Heskey.

Bayern have been terrible every time they played an Alonso-Schweinsteiger midfield. That would be my issue with that line-up.

I'm aware of that but there is no reason why it should be like that. Alonso has played in a double pivot alongside Busquets and Schweinsteiger has played in a double pivot alongside Martinez. If Pep can't make it work that's on him.

Im with you. We have BIG injury troubles but can still play with a great team.
I have a good feeling for the CL semis. And if we lose its a great season with a fantastic Meisterschaft run, 2 cup semis and the next step as a brand and a club.
All fine.

Well let Barca play without Messi, Neymar and Iniesta or something and they would cry a river aswell. And it's the same for us now playing this important game without Robben, Ribery and Alaba.

Our team didn't look very threatening going forward since Robben is out.

Real real shame about Robben, but why was he risked yesterday? Surely it wasn't worth the risk

It isn't as if he went into the game straight from the surgical table. Rumours have it he actually played some Football on the Training pitch the days before.

Funnily enough, both Robben and Lewas injuries were examined and treated by a certain doctor who resembles an old Indian chief and who resides in the City Center of munich :D

I read some comments, for example on the "Guardian", claiming Pep had made the Team worse comapred to the Heynckes days. Under Heynckes, the Team visibly struggled when either Robben or Ribery were unavailable. Not the case currently, obviously.
Such a stroke of rotten luck as the Team currently endures can set free some additional momentum. I'm not that pessimistic about the Barca clash.

Let's not forget our collapse in 2012 when Schweinsteiger got injured and never really hit peak form again. Guardiola had several key players from the treble winning team not available to him and still kept the team playing on an incredible level for almost 2 years now. At the moment, we're missing Robben, Ribery, Alaba and Martinez. There's no way we would have won the treble without them. I don't think Pep did a perfect job so far, but the comparisons to arguably the most dominant season we ever played is definitely silly. It was always unlikely to keep the team performing at that level, there's no way Heynckes could have done that either, just like Guardiola couldn't keep Barca playing at the same level after the CL win in 2011. Teams peak. But some of the criticism Guardiola has to face is just downright silly.

They would cry a river because they would have to replace Messi, Neymar, Iniesta with Munir, Pedro and Sergi Roberto. Replacing Ribery with Götze and Robben with World Cup golden boot winner Müller isn't exactly the same drop-off in quality.

Well Götze is not playing very well tho (if not to say he's almost completely useless these days) and Müller would play anyways but is a totally different player than Robben.

The big problem is that we don't have any pacey players who can exploit the space in behind Alves and Alba. It's such a huge huge game-changer. We're forced to attack down the middle now or play either significantly inferior or less suited players for those wide roles. It sucks big time. If at least one of Ribery or Robben would be available, but it looks like we have neither of them, nor do we have Alaba who would be another threat from midfield down the left wing in behind Alves.

Downplaying the drop in quality with all those key players injured is just silly. Yeah, we have incredible squad depth and can still field a decent XI, even for a CL semifinal, but up against the probably best team in the world at the moment with all their best players fit, it's a fecking nightmare. And there are so many questionmarks around the players who will actually start. For example, if Lewandowski plays, it's far from a given that he's mentally at 100% with his face thrashed only a week ago. Benatia barely played so far this season and can't be anywhere near 100% either.

It looks like Wolfsburg won the race for Max Kruse against Dortmund and Leverkusen. It's not comfirmed yet, but a few sources seem confident and his 12m release clause has to be triggered in the next weeks from what I've read. Would be a great fit for the team and certainly a huge huge upgrade on Bas Dost. I could see both De Bruyne and Schürrle enjoying to play off him, because he's much more than just a regular number 9.

Eberl has a hell of a job to do this summer. Replacing Kramer & Kruse and fighting off offers from top clubs for Xhaka.

Gladbach fans already start complaining because Bayern lets Müller and Boateng at home for the away match against Leverkusen. Müller is the last unicorn after Robben, Ribery and maybe even Lewy out - and Boateng had some muscle problems lately and is as essential for the Wednesday match.

You will see Bayern Munich will beat Leverkusen and Mönchengladbach will lose against Hertha Berlin.
Mönchengladbach should be happy that players like Javi Martinez, Pizarro, Rode, Weiser, Kurt or Gaudino will play tomorrow because they will give 100% on the pitch......players like Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Xabi Alonso or Thiago surely wouldn't give 100% in this match against Leverkusen.
And anyway Mönchengladbach are 2 points ahead of Leverkusen.....it is in their own hands so they should shut up.

We had the same case with the Newcastle fans in the 2008-2009 season and the result at the end was that we have won of course our game but Newcastle couldn't win their own game to stay in the league.
