Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

I know this has been flogged to death, but I still can't get my head round Dortmund's awful form in the Bundesliga Vs their form in the CL. Anybody got an idiots guide summary for me?
I doubt it. If they were 7th or 8th or something like that, you could find explanations. But there's really nothing that hasn't gone wrong. Bad tactics, hilarious individual mistakes in defense, ridiculously bad finishing upfront, injuries, bad luck with referees. All of it is true. And in recent games it looked like there's something wrong with the mentality of the team as well.

Neuer not looking good there at all, but just overall comical defending.

We look pretty tired, but that's to be expected.

Can we buy De Gea? He wouldn't have conceded that goal :(

What a fecking freekick by Schweinsteiger.

Marcel Reif is about to start crying like a child out of sheer disappointment and delusion. What a horrible, horrible commentator.

World class FK from schweini. What a reply.

Annoyingly my bet on Bayern to win was processing and failed.

How is Mainz on such a bad run, they're brilliant today. Awesome game.

Bayern's range of passes are just unparalleled. Low, medium, high. 2 yards, 5 yards, 10, yards, 20 yards. Forward, sideways, backwards. On the money every damn time and so rarely the wrong choice of ball either. It makes a team work so hard just to exist in the game let alone move forward. Half of the time the positioning of Bayern players alone means the pressing work is half done and it's just a side step to intercept a pass and start another period of retaining possession and stretching the opposition. It must be mentally exhausting to work against. Marvellous to watch.

Well said :).

But I thought Pep was obsessed with tiki-taka. :wenger:

Bayern's injured XI alone would compete for the bundesliga title.

You just have to love professionals like this. At the end of the year he will be the Non-German (with exception of Arjen, but it is easier if you are from the Netherlands) with the best German...

Wow! He says he has a good german teacher. I guess it's Pep himself. ;)

@ Injuries at Bayern: Funny that this dutch fitness guru who recently told everybody that Van Gaal is doing something wrong and that's the reason we have so many injuried players... this dutch guy told over the years that Guardiola's fitness training is latest state of the art und just brillant.

We need to have a few more bad games, Neuer needs more practise.

Stadionton >>>>>>>>>>> Reif

It's really great to have that option.

I feel a bit sorry for Mainz, but what a bargain Bernat turned out to be. Absolutely fantastic leftback.

Fatigued second half but when you're that good and have quality all over the pitch, you can capitalise on lapses of concentration and turn matches into wins. Brilliant.

Very entertaining game between Bayern and Mainz, I felt sorry for the latter as they played so well and kept their intensity up all game. I was also impressed with their young captain Geis, he took a lot of responsibility in midfield and hit some lovely passes.

I was just thinking before the game looking at the line-ups that Benat was the bargain buy of the summer for any of the big teams, fantastic at both ends, intelligent and has a great engine.

He's incredible. He's smart and disciplined, so he fits perfectly into Guardiola's ever changing tactics. He has endless stamina and is a really well balanced fullback, he's a very good defender and contributes in attack. He's exactly the type of fullback I love and only 21 years old. I don't miss Alaba at all in the leftback role, it was a brilliant move to get Bernat and free up Alaba for a more central box to box role. Wonderful move by Pep.

I also envy Spain. For all our great youth work, we suck at producing quality fullbacks in Germany and it's really sad because our country has such a wonderful history of fantastic fullbacks, yet we have no one since Lahm retired (Boateng is probably our best fullback, but he's also our best centerback, so we experiment with Schmelzer, Durm or Höwedes, it's so tragic). Spain has Bernat and Carvajal, 21 and 22 years old, already regular starters for the 2 best teams in the world and if both keep their recent performance level for a while, both should be considered to be among the best fullbacks in the world. If Bernat continues to play that well, he definitely should start ahead of Alba for Spain in my opinion unless they need a gung ho winger-type leftback who's only there for his attacking contribution.

Per 90 minutes; Robben scores 0.86 goals, and Messi 0.87; the lad is unreal.

imo Robben has become the best player in the world this year. Even though this opinion is not popular because Messi and Ronaldo are stonewalled. :p

Did not take long...
Bremen - Dortmund 1:0
goal Selke

Augsburg - Gladbach 0:1
penalty, Kruse

The Dortmund soap opera continues. Every new episode is better than last week's. Still early in the match though
