Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

I feel like I lost half a decade of my life in the last two hours. In the end even the refereeing somewhat evened itself out. What a stupid scene by Subotic...

That looked fairly stonewall to me. But balances out the Aubameyang goal which was ruled offside entirely wrongly earlier.

Not really sure it was stonewall mainly because Subotic didn't directly foul the player but the player ran into him when he was on the ground. Sure it could have been given on another day I by another ref but a stonewall pen looks different imo.

Despite the win this crisis isn't over for Dortmund at all. They still showed the same weaknesses as in the games before. Wasted too many chances, made too many mistakes in the build up game which than put their defense in a lot of danger. On top of that their nerves are still visible, they lack confidence in every area of the pitch. If Hummels and Gündogan are back for a longer while it surely will do them some good if they play like today, pretty much the best Dortmund players on the pitch for me.

Dortmund can be happy with the 3 points

Any decent team would have beaten them today

Hoffenheim are getting zero points (out of ten) from me......slow, terrible passing game, no tackles and the tactics were wrong from the start

Been really impressed with Süle today.

The ref has been a disgrace though! Dortmund in self destruct mode there with that Subotic tackle and the ref letting them off the hook. Payback for the wrongful offside goal.
:wenger: Awful defender (at least today)

Subotic threw himself in front of the striker, and missed the ball completely. The striker was unable to follow the ball, or to stop himself from falling over Subotic's body in front of him. I don't see much room for argument that it wasn't a penalty.

Will be in Berlin next weekend for Hertha v BVB, hope Dortmund get successive wins. Three crucial points tonight, but they really should start taking their chances.

Well I do and so did the pundits on German TV as well. Another point was that the player already had lost ball control at that time so the more I see the scene the less I feel it was anything at all.

Oh give over.

Subotic took him out, whether the ball was gone or not. It was a penalty.

He definitely hadn't lost control of the ball. Take Subotic's 'tackle' out of the equation there and he runs through and cuts the ball back no problem. Hence why it's a penalty.

Still stunning

<snip: large gif removed, was killing page performance>

It was a clear penalty, but it evens out with the offside goal so it's all good. Dortmund were due some luck after everything that's gone against them this season.

There was nothing about lack of fitness on Weidenfeller´s part, so this is most likely because of performance reasons. Quite a big sign by Klopp I would say.
So how do you rate Langerak? Is he really good enough to become the new number one or do you think there is some truth in the rumours about the club being interested in Kevin Trapp? Trapp has the perfect age to move now and his development in recent years is excellent. I'd rather have him than Leno or Zieler and with only one year left on his contract, he shouldn't be too expensive.

Schalke is the weirdest team in the world. They've always been incosistent, but usually they mixed close defeats and narrow wins. Now they are switching between getting destroyed and giving out hammerings. I'd go crazy if I was a Schalke fan.

So no one did Dortmund any favours, maybe Bayern can help them a bit by beating Leverkusen today, so that the gap to Leverkusen at least gets smaller. I did expect Mainz and Hoffenheim to drop out of the CL places soon enough, but how did Augsburg get into 3rd place after 14 games? That's crazy.

FCB / Line up: Neuer (K) - Alonso, Benatia, Ribéry, Lewandowski, Robben, Rafinha, Boateng, Bernat, Götze, Müller

Even against Leverkusen, Guardiola goes with the Alonso & Götze CM. I thought we could use a more cautious approach for this game, should be a fun and entertaing game.

If he does it like last week it is more Ribery that is often the second defensive midfielder. Robben the playmaker.

I think Pep is just to chicken to say one of Robben, Ribery, Müller, Götze or Lewa that they have to start on the bench. ;) (and some want Reus - than we start with 6...)

Hannover counts surely. And we should beat Bayer. A good Bundesliga day for Dortmund if we do so.

Is Gaudino on the bench? I know his chances to play are minute, but hope dies last.

FCB substitutes: Zingerle - Dante, Shaqiri, Gaudino, Rode, Schweinsteiger, Hojbjerg

He will probably be on the bench until Pizarro comes back.

Why do our midfielders press our defenders? That sounds like an awful idea? Bernat though, brilliant. I like him mre with each passing game.

Anyone else got the impression that Boateng struggles a bit whenever he has to play the left sided centerback role? It's what I really don't like in the back four with Benatia. It was never a problem when we played with 3 at the back. Maybe he just needs a bit more time to get used to the slightly different role, but it definitely causes a few problems.

Ribery being a bit too playful so far. This last one could've ended badly

A goal from a corner. Now I've seen everything. Shut down the league. It's over.

We scored after a corner  ? The first one this season after 110 attempts. Ribery!!!

I've said it before, Rode deserves more playing time. He's been really good whenever he played.

The formation since halftime works so much better. Götze was completely lost and Rode is bringing quite some life into the game.
