Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Most of them were actually not that far off and primarily came from Hummels. It is normal for him that the precision of his long balls is the ability which takes the longest time to return to normal after an injury. We operated with these crosses since 2011/2012 but they usually are more successful. He is doing an amazing job defensively, though, and is a huge help for Subotic and the back line in general. He solved around half a dozen potentially dangerous situations by great interceptions and tacklings.

Yea I'm impressed by his intercepting and heading game so far tonight but I think that those long balls don't help you lot.

It somewhat brings chaos to the pitch and Hoffenheim are benefitting from it. I know that you are going through a difficult period but BVB is capable of dominating the game with some slick quick ground passing and those hoofs are the exact opposite.

Imo Dortmund is doing exactly what they need to do right now. Try and keep a clean sheet for once even if it comes at the price of their attacking game and so far they have done well restricting any chances.

Jay-zus, BVB dropping points is one thing but I've counted like 6-7 hoofs from defence that end up nowhere.

Ref's pretty shit too.

No idea why this is surprising. Long passes have always been part of their game. But their passing is off atm which is one of the main reasons they are so deep down the table so far it's one of the areas they imo desperately need to improve again as there are a lot of teams in the Bundesliga who are great on the counter and losing a ball against them is deadly.

Are they? So far they basically accomplished nothing going forward and lost the ball quite quickly again. We actually get well into the tacklings but the very petty refereeing is not helping us at the moment, because we accomplish most of the things today with sheer grit, fight and effort.

We are certainly capable of playing cleaner and better looking football, but the team clearly lacks the necessary confidence for that at the moment. This is also not the time for that. Right now it is about getting results no matter what. If it has to be due to fight, spirit and defensive stability then so be it.

What a save by Hummels

Finally someone who steps up and leads the team. We desperately needed someone like him.

Refs are a joke in this game. Shades of the Paderborn game, Klopp's probably going to headbutt the fourth official if they concede next :D

Hummels save was amazing!

I have never ever seen something like that what Hummels did in the 46th minute after Hoffenheim's freekick. It looked like he is Superman. Fantastic "save".

FML, this had to be at least two meters onside. How can you not see that??? Thats the second time in a row that we are blatantly robbed.

Those Dortmund fans look absolutely mental. Great atmosphere.

mats hummels with a so far incredible return.

Just score the second please. I swear I´m going to break something if we won´t win this.

Gündogan is having a really good game. Great to see him back.

Hummels, Gundogan and Piszczek all looking good tonight, very good at times. It's the sharpness and decision-making up front that's holding them back, particularly from Mkhitaryan and Ramos.

They certainly look more like the old Dortmund when Gundogan's on song like this.

as a mkhitaryan fanboy of the highest order, well, i'm kinda, erm, dunno really. it's just that, i mean, come on.

Somehow Klopp's conjured up the Gundogan of that Madrid match all of a sudden. He's absolutely everywhere and looks sharp as anything. Not getting the same from the forwards around him (although Aubameyang's been unlucky more than actually bad.)

A lot of this has also to do with the amazing work of the DM, which give him the necessary freedom. Bender and Kehl both play like warriors today.

Very true. The commitment has been superb. Kehl's performance a little patchy, Bender's rock solid, but they've both run their legs off.

Subotic :wenger:

Ok it looked worse than it actually was

Thats should have been a pen

I have backed Dortmund to win once they went 1-0 up so dont count the Hoff out yet!

Been really impressed with Süle today.

The ref has been a disgrace though! Dortmund in self destruct mode there with that Subotic tackle and the ref letting them off the hook. Payback for the wrongful offside goal.

That looked fairly stonewall to me. But balances out the Aubameyang goal which was ruled offside entirely wrongly earlier.
