Quality signing for a decent fee. I get the feeling that Hamburg is about to get their shit together for a change.
The comment was made, i learned, after Mou's Chelsea lost convincingly 0-3 against a Werder Bremen that will neither compete for first nor for second place - he is right about that. Oh yes, and it also was the referee's fault. Typical germans!
How do you like the look of the team so far? Pre-season games weren't half bad from what I've seen and read. Slomka's work in the 2nd half of last season couldn't have been encouraging, but how is the team playing so far in your opinion?Nicolai Müller will join Hamburg, medical is tomorrow. Fee around 4.5 Million €. Very happy with the signing.
Muller has a lot more productivity, and from what I've seen he is levels above him and plays central attacking mid more like a second striker than Lallana who is just a more advanced midfielder imo.We should really start selling our players to England. Müller is a very similar player to Lallana in terms of age, position, productivity, but the difference in price tags is ridiculous.
He's talking about Nicolai Müller who moved today to Hamburg for 4.5m Euro, not Thomas Müller at Bayern? If you really meant Nicolai Müller here, then I'd say that would be really harsh on Lallana, who I consider the slightly better player out of those two.Muller has a lot more productivity, and from what I've seen he is levels above him and plays central attacking mid more like a second striker than Lallana who is just a more advanced midfielder imo.

As someone mentioned Hamburg... what do you think about Demirbay? He's done really well in pre season, think he'll be given a chance in the first team?
Hopefully, yes. He looked very promising last year too but he got injured unfortunately. He could potentially be the successor of VDV in a few years.
If he's any good, he should replace him this season or do you really expect VDV ever to play anywhere near his peak level again?Hopefully, yes. He looked very promising last year too but he got injured unfortunately. He could potentially be the successor of VDV in a few years.

Pepe Reina is signing for Bayern for €3m according to the Spanish press -

He's a bitter cnut who just lost convincingly and is lashing out but he's not entirely wrong, is he? I mean no one will get anywhere close to Bayern this year and Dortmund are much more likely to get second than the rest of the pack.
Our CEO, Rummenigge, just confirmed it. Great signing for a Nr 2 keeper!
Yep. I'm a Liverpool fan but I think it's a good deal for both clubs. From our point of view he's on too much a week to have sitting on the bench* but that's not really a problem for you. He was a bit error prone in his last few seasons here but as a back-up I'm sure he could push Neuer better than Starke did, and his sweeping/distribution skills will fit Pep's idea of a keeper well.
*Whether Mignolet is better is arguable but rightly or wrongly Rodgers prefers him.
Great infos, thanks! Was he error prone because of injury issues? Do you know something about that?
It's hard to pinpoint why. In his last season here (12/13) he was injured a few times which didn't help but even before that he wasn't his usual self. Error prone is probably harsh though - he wasn't making many howlers, it's just that he wasn't saving shots he would have easily made before.
From what I've read he was a lot better at Napoli last season so maybe it was just a slump. Anyway he's a great influence to have around the team, it says a lot about his character that when we were being fecked by our owners it was Reina who was speaking out against them in public while Carragher and Gerrard stayed silent. The Spain squad speak highly of his character too.
That sounds great. You need good characters in any team. And with his career he will be respected by our guys. Seems a great transfer for me. And we take his money from you. Good for you.
Liverpool and Bayern in the same CL group then.
Wouldnt mind that so. Anfield is a special place. You will never walk alone gets me every time.
But anyway; wish you all the best in this years CL. Thanks for your help.
Bayern lost to MLS All Stars and Guardiola was pissed about the tackles.
Just came home from a short trip to Breslau in Poland watching the BVB against Slask Wroclaw.
First of all, I have no idea what the stadium announcer took before the game, but he went completely mental in the game and the fans responded accordingly. Very impressive atmosphere.
As far as the game itself goes, Slask is certainly not a team full of world beaters but still a decent side. To put it in perspective probably on the same level as a top side in the second league or a small Bundesliga team. They had the advantage in terms of condition, because they are already in full rythm and the Dortmund players had to overcome the harshest training session of the season yesterday. Overall it was a good game to gauge the current form of the team.
I´m normally against falling into real hype on the base of pre season games, but the first 30 minutes was simply some damn fine football and after a calmer period the pace picked up once again around 60 minute mark when the subs truly got into the game. On paper we played a 4-2-2-2, but there was no set formation in the front, because the offensive four interchanged constantly and created a fluidity in our game, which I have not seen for quite a while. Losing Robert Lewandowski did cost us peak quality, but it also opened the possibility to become more unpredictable again. Too often did we rely on the Pole´s individual class, which made us easier to defend against.
Involved in basically every attacking play was the best player of our pre season so far: Henrikh Mkhitaryan (one goal, one assist). I said it when we signed him and I still firmly believe it: the guy will become an absolute monster for us. He has just the right skill set to excell in Klopp´s team. He appears to have finally beaten his biggest opponent, which was himself. It might have been because of his high intellect that he overthought things and put a too heavy burden on himself, which made him struggle in terms of consistency. If he stays fit then he won´t be as underrated as he is on here for long.
Another player who really stepped up his game is Aubameyang, who really flourishes in his new role as second and roaming striker. All of the new guys found ways to impress. Immobile did what he was bought for and converted his one clear cut chance into the 2:0 and Ramos had several good scenes including some very nice build up play and finishing for the 3:0. Both Ji and Ginter showed promise and are raw diamonds similar to Hofmann who impresses me time and time again with his decision making for his age.
All in all, this game made me really hyped up for the clash with Liverpool on Sunday, which will be my first visit of the Anfield. For once my job worked for me sending me to England for a week just at the right time.
"How to ruin a promotional tour, part 2" (AC Milan are part 1)
Couple of challenges were a bit over the top though, don't know if he'd have lost his shit if Bayern had won.
He would have. The referee from the start did not really go against harder play even if for Bayern it was a friendly.
Pep did not play Ribery and Badstuber because of the pitch and the injuries they had before. They had to play the World Champions because of contracts and they brought them in. They flew away from Munich in the morning (12 hours flight) stayed some hours in Portland including PR dates and played this 10 minutes without prior training after 3 weeks of rest in which they were supposed to get totally off football - for them it was 4 a.m. in the following night after being awake about 22 or more hours. Bayern did it like this as they wanted them to have their full 3 weeks holidays and they tried to not get them into having jetlags returning to Munich. Bayern flew back to Germany short after the matches.
To me it looked like he tried to downplay the whole incident and more or less said that he'd be happy to play again and that there isn't any bad blood between him and the opposing player and coaching staff, just like he said that he shook hands with all the players and also later with the manager in the tunnel. A few of the tackles were too hard and Pep's reaction at the end of the game was clearly over the top, but I don't think the result itself was the problem. The 'revenge' part was really more a 'We'd like to come again and give overall a better show' comment in my opinion.Unless you are Guardiola, you wouldn't know that though. You can make a guess, but you can't be sure.
For what it's worth, I hate to see players injured on friendly matches, especially when one team all of a sudden thinks it's good to play it like a competitive match. On the other hand, Bayern did sign up for this, tickets were sold, people came to watch the match. It's a bit of a shitty situation, maybe there was problems in communication between the two teams on how competitive the match should be. Guardiola wanted a 'revenge match' next year in the press conference, which sort of made it look like he was railing against the result.
Anchan, your optimism honors you but it's reaching dangerous fanboy levels. Not meant as an insult, just saying that you should take things with a pinch of salt now and then.
The US-tour was a start, nothing more. The crowds were tiny compared to what the other big names are able to attract over there, which is to be expected, but I don't think a couple of PR meetings, a borefest against Guadalajara and a loss against the All Stars with a tantrum throwing Pep - as much as I understand his reaction during game time and even though the hand shake incident was and will be blown out of proportion - constitute a "great promotion tour". It was a start, nothing more.

The ones who want to label me fanboy because I have a positive look on the world can do that. I dont care.
You are right of course. Its just the start.
But we also have to take the circumstances into consideration. The team played in smaller stadiums and the opponents werent Real and United.
You will have fewer buzz then. But to have 3000 people at a training seassion without most of the stars, having ESPN 1 showing the game against the Mexicans and then the sight of Bayern fan clubs from all over the US is great to see.
We had Pep, Beckenbauer and a team full of stars and superstars. A bit of drama too. The US media and public had Bayern on their minds for days.
I count that as a great promotion tour. We have to keep that up and do much more, yes.
But a very good start for me.

Apparantly Rummenigge already stated that we'll travel to Asia next year, which kinda sucks in my opinion. If we go back to the US in two years it'll be again without most of our top players after the Euro. We really should play another big friendly in the US to make up for this game, with all our top players available to contribute and we should do it as soon as possible, maybe during the winter break? I doubt it's as bad as some believe but it's not pretty either and as the start of a strong marketing campaign in the US, it really sucks to look like sore losers, well done .
