Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Koln won´t be able to hold this kind of pressing all match. Slower pace now after a lively start.

In a way, yeah. My only hope is that I don´t think that Cologne can keep up this type of full pitch pressing the whole game.
Dortmund are getting outnumbered when they do get it in the box. The set pieces seem more threatening, when Hummels and Subotic get forward.

Dortmund´s passing in attack poor so far. Cmon Kagawa do it for Madwinger.

Deyverson so quick. Benfica didn´t even give him a chance. Looks like a decent player.

Cologne is doing a very good job in closing down the space, but we also lack the movement in the final third to force said space.

Was expecting a better game with Dortmund´s good form and Koln being the 2nd best away team. Hopefully the second half is better.

You shouldn't have great expectations when Köln is the away team. They usually set up just like they do today with a strong defense and then get three or four counter attacking chances.

Dortmund also really miss Sahin, they didn't really create much against Hamburg without him either.

I think this game needs a goal. You are right about Koln but some Dortmund games have been so chaotic that´s why i had expectations of a good game.

When is Sahin expected to be back @Sphaero ? You really need him against Juve next week.

Finally a decent attack by Dortmund. They look so slow and predictable. Stop the stupid crossing when you have no reference in the box

Good save Koln´s keeper. Almost Dortmund

Finally a decent shot by Reus, extremely strong save by Horn (was way harder than it looked), showing why he is my favourite choice as Weidenfeller´s successor.

What the hell was that ? Stupid yellow by Auba. Subs show some effect. Kampl is the sort of player who fights for every bit of space.

The feck is wrong with Gündogan today? He has been utter shit.

Köln are so boring to watch this season. Worrying performance by Dortmund though, not creating a lot in attack and very open to counters at the same time.

Any particular reason you rate Horn over Trapp and Karius?

Dortmund were flat as a fart today and passed it around slower than us, they only pepped up a bit when the Miley Cyrus impersonator came on.

He looked very disinterested, almost bored by the game, no energy or urgency and that led to sloppiness.

Yeah he was crap today but the whole team looked like they are already thinking about the game against Juve. Pretty bad performance from pretty much everyone. Mkhitharyan and Kagawa were non entities as well until their substitution and Reus was only slightly better.

I just hope they can step up their game against Juve because with a performance like the one against Cologne they will go out.

Do not try to tell me again it is Dortmund bias - but Dortmund really has problems when the opponent sits deep - and in addition to that when the opponent plays agressive, too. Two weeks ago after easier matches against Freiburg, Stuttgart and Schalke (it was not the same Schalke that played Madrid - Schalke seems to play Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde) a lot thought that they will go on an unbeaten run - but I guess the matches against Hamburg, Juve and Cologne have shown that the problems still are there.

How much would you value him at ? and would Bayern be willing to sell him?

The first question should be if he wants to leave. Somehow, I don't see that happening. He's as bavarian as you can get. I am proven wrong constantly, however. :)

Cant believe he has become such a cult hero, i always thought it would be Kroos, i really don't see Bayern doing much business in the Summer

Kroos never really got that emotional connection to the fans that Ribery and the others have. Müller does. :)

Dortmund are done with regards to their possible European qualification, aren't they? Their best hope right now is winning DFB Pokal which I think they're still in and then perhaps winning Europa League next season.

They could still finish 7th. I wouldn't be surprised if Augsburg fell apart and dropped a few places. Hoffenheim is only 6 points away and far from consistent. Dortmund won't make the top 5, but if a team wins the cup that's already qualified for Europe, 7th place is enough to play in the Europa League next season and that's still possible.

I thought you needed to be 6th in order to play in Europa League. 7th is certainly possible, 6th will be tough but managable. I reckon a lot depends on whether they progress past Juventus in Champions League or not (I think they will). If they make it into quarter finals and have a good draw they could easily make it ot semis and from then on anything could happen, I don't think they're anywhere near good enough to make it to the final or win the competition but they've been decent in Europe this year and their side could cause trouble to anyone on their day. If they make it further in CL they'll probably put all their eggs in one basket and neglect the league.

6 + the cup winner. In case the cup winner is already qualified for Europe through the league, it all moves down one place and the 7th placed team becomes the one starting in the 3rd EL qualifying round.

They have 8 points less than the team in the sixth spot. So, I guess their only hopes to qualify for Europe next season are be either winning DFB Pokal, or winning UCL. Hoping that they'll win UCL, it would be awesome!

It all depends on Dortmund's performance... Neither Augsburg nor Hoffenheim are consistent performers. If Dortmund starts playing up to their potential they should have a very good chance of closing the gap. However the pas two matches (the last one was especially shocking) showed that they still have a lot of work ahead of them, so we'll have to wait and see.
