We need to find ways to get him on the ball more often. Far too few of our players has his ability to get out of tricky spots and make good stuff happen

He played really well midweek and again today. It's nice to see Amad finally getting the opportunity to showcase the quality a lot of us already knew he had.

I hope he plays as one of the 10s if Amorim implements the 343 he's been using with Sporting. Amad looks made for that role and deserves a run in the team now.

I just hope he keeps the end product up. 2 goals previous game, an assist today and he's back on the form that won our player of the month at the beginning of the season

In terms of just skillset, he's got the lot. Agile, quick movement and dribbling and most of the time tight control with good technique and can play a teammate in as well as score. Its just a question of whether he will make the difference in the final third often enough or we eventully have to sign a right winger we think will.

So yeah if he keeps scoring and setting up goals he's our man

He will work back and try to win the ball as well and showing that effort helps

Should have finished that chance after a good run btw, why would he not try to place it there. Needs to learn that a boring finish is often better than a wonder goal for productivity

I'm a big fan of Amad but if you take out winning the ball with that header that got us up the pitch, which ended with the assist and general hard work off the ball, he had a 5/10 performance at best especially considering the opposition who were mid table Premier League level at best. If people think that's a good level for the rest of the season then we have all forgotten what a good winger plays like.

I wouldn't want to have him as our wingback personally. His top speed is average — he makes up for it with good acceleration and, more importantly, technique and intelligence (as well as great workrate) but he's simply a poor fit for such a athletically demanding position. His athleticism is literally his biggest weakness at this point. If we were going to transform one of our wingers into wingbacks, Garnacho seems like the obvious option (although I very much doubt that he's going to be happy about it!).

I do hope that Amad & Bruno will be our main pair of inside forwards — at least this is the partnership I'm most excited about.

There is a Leicester player that tried to grab him and I think that influenced his shot.

He’s excellent and I think he will thrive under Amorim. Under ETH it was clear he disliked him and even when he got to play, he would have always been a mistake away from being punished and sent back to the bench which is not conducive to young players development.

There were many many things ETH deserved the sack for…his constant underuse & undervaluing of Amad is one of them. The man could not evaluate a good talent if it smacked him in the face.

As for Amad, he’s just a joy to watch. A lovely mixture of fantastic technical ability mixed with great tenacity & work rate. Really hope he kicks on under Amorim.

I thought this was the problem yesterday, we focused a lot on the left the center, not much of play was conducted on his side.

Overly critical analysis :annoyed:

Only just seen the highlights of the first goal from yesterday, just love how nonchalant Amad was. Already playing like he's just a kid in a playground now that he's got some confidence going.

This is what was missing from him. If he can work hard and press and intelligently win the ball then, it does not matter if things dont go always his way on the ball, he will be very usefull to the new system. Should player with Bruno under the striker.
I don't think it really was. I remember even back in his first season here when he got a few matches there were people talking about being surprised and impressed at his willingness to work hard and try to win the ball back. Then the same in the latter part of last season when he was getting matches and he was getting stuck in. And he's continued doing the same thing this season as well. It's almost like each time there's been enough time in between that people reset their expectations and forget it was something he was decent at.

That's not to say that he's been fantastic at it or anything, but he's always seemed to be someone who would work well in an organised press.

The first goal against Leicester and the second one against PAOK comes down to incredibly hard work by Amad. Very nice to see. Those two goals would never have been scored, if it was Rashford pressuring the opponent.

Good stats for a player frequently described as not physically suited for the league.

which position do you think Amorim will put him? one of the 2 10's behind the striker or the right side in the midfield 4? provided Amorim maintains his formation 3-4-2-1

I love how he bullies people, and he's Rooney-esque when challenging CBs for the ball over the top, perfect timing to beat them in the air constantly.

Assist aside I thought his decision-making could have been better on the edge of the box.

I've had the same gripe with him for some time now. Either chooses the wrong option or takes too much time on the ball so that Mazraoui's overlapping runs sometimes get ignored, but it's fine.

He's still been brilliant and this is something he can improve at. As someone else said, playing together with his teammates regularly could also make this issue somewhat disappear too.

His defensive work rate is excellent for someone who always tries to make things happen on the attacking end.

His frame is diminutive but he doesn't play like it at all, his strong centre of gravity gives him terrific balance and he knows how to use his body opportunistically.

Probably our most intelligent forward, think the new gaffer will utilize him quite a bit.

Big credit to him for seizing the opportunity. Looking forward to seeing how he does under Amorim.

I said this last season that people calling him lazy were wrong. If you watched him at Sunderland you'd know he worked very hard.

His workrate is nothing new but the fact that he's seemingly becoming good at nicking the ball away from opposition players is a nice surprise. At Sunderland, he did press and track back, but his tackling wasn't that effective. Now, whenever he gets near an opponent, he seems to either nick the ball or at least come close to doing so. It's great to see.

I think what helps is that players who have immaculate ball control and manipulation are better in duels because instead of getting caught up in the physical struggle, their technique just overpowers the opposition players, and they become the ones controlling the ball.

People who think he'd be a wingback don't get football. The lad is broken after 60 minutes on the wing as an attacker, he'd play 25 minutes as a wingback! Stamina is one of his biggest problems it seems so far.

That being said i think he'd thrive as the right sided '10' as he has great ballhandling and has a good eye for a pass normally too. Think he'll be really good there.

True. One thing to seek a replacement for Greenwood on the right given his departure at short notice. Another thing altogether to allow the club to spend so much money on Anthony when you knew the capabilities of the player. Fergie and Wenger would never have done this.

Fair play to the recruitment/scouting department for identifying him so early and at a time when Sancho was all the rage - the season he joined, I can remember Neville for berating the club for not paying up the necessary transfer fee demanded by Dortmund to sign Sancho!

Great to see a player playing with such joy and smiling so much post game given all the noise from the other flank.

His workrate has always been there, even in his debut season. People always used his slight frame against him to say he has no defensive workrate. He has always been a pressing player, going into duels with intensity. It helps that he put on some muscle.
