As an AM he needs players to play one twos with. Towards the end of the game you could see him trying that with Bruno. I think we also see it a bit with Mainoo.

Since we are lacking that kind of player he is probably more effective at the moment as RWB where he can get into space to run at the defence from deep.

I still feel he has the talent to be a top player but he is surrounded by so much dross and is probably looking worse as a result of it.
Agreed, Mazraoui especially has been atrocious going forward.

I will say, though, Amad needs to work on his shooting, absolutely woeful

We're massively reliant on him doing something to win games. If he's off it like today we're in trouble.

I think he's making more wrong decisions at the moment. When he attacks the fullback and tries to find a teammate he is more effective but he is trying to do too much on his own in recent weeks.

I think he has more upside when playing rwb currently. We lack options in passing with Mazraoui there and we can use Garnacho and Mainoo in the 10 slot. More attacking players mean more attacking threat. Defenders will have to choose who to pick up or double team, making us less predictable.

Agree about him needing to play at wing back. Not sure what Amorim is thinking by not playing him there in home matches like today.

I've always had a nagging doubt with him and today was the worst of it. He's not direct enough, always seems to want the ball first and then think about doing something with it. He never anticipates things. He's definitely better suited as a wing back.

There's a difference between Amad at RWB being overall better for the team right now, and Amad being better suited to RWB.

Amad's easily better suited to play in attack, with an attacking RWB behind him, an elite 10 on the left side, with an attacking LWB, and a striker that poses a threat to the opposition. He has none of those things.

At the moment, he is expected to carry our attack on his own and the opposition can surround him with players to stop him knowing no one else on his team is capable of doing anything.

Despite that he created our 2 best chances today for Mainoo and Bruno, as well as the cross for Maguire at the back post.

I can get on board with him playing RWB this season, but we must make signings to move him back to an attacking role.

Man Utd 2:1 Leicester New
Some very sloppy touches from him in the last couple of games, strangely not his first touch, but when setting the ball or dribbling.

He's been one of the few that's had a very good season but his form is diminishing a bit. No need for alarm though, given his age, and the guy never gives up, which is always good to see.

Has to improve the consistency of his short passing. I'm a big advocate for him being a #10 on the inside, but whilst his passing is so loose, he's much better suited to playing wingback, where it's mostly running and crosses or short balls into others.

Too much pressure on that lad for me, he's also best out in that wing back position as well. Seems to thrive out there.

Still think he looks more dangerous as a RWB than one of the 10’s. One of his biggest strengths is running at defenders, as a 10 this is mostly taken away from him and he’s generally reduced to one twos with players who aren’t good at those.

He's been poor since the Southampton game, hoping the week off will get him back some form

Yeah still needs to take another step in his development.

1 good game in every 3/4 is fine for now. But after being rewarded with a fat contract he needs to perform.

Also it could be that everyone knows what he is going to do now so they are more prepared for him tactically.

I just feel like he’s become much more greedy since the Southampton game, although I must say he looked miles better as a RWB than one of the 10’s today.
I’d chalk that up more to immaturity than to believing his own hype (something the likes of Rashford was more likely guilty of.)

I think he takes far too many touches and just needs to cross the ball a bit quicker .
Maguire came up for a corner in the 2nd half and Bruno went short to Garnacho who passed it sideways which ended out the wing to Amad and we ended losing possession instead of just swinging it in to Maguire’s head

Just stop playing him as a 10. We play so many defensive players we struggle to get out of our own half.

He plays much better as a RWB with space in front of him. Playing with his back to goal isn’t his game.

Just occurred to me that probably the only player who’s looked good playing as a 10 in this system is Garnacho. Someone who is supposed to be so unsuited to it we tried to sell him. Everyone else has been varying degrees of shite in that position. Which is a worry.
I know money will likely be tight but Cunha for 62.5 million would be very tempting in the summer.

I prefer him at rwb not least because it means we're less defensive overall and he is excellent along the touchline and cutting in.

Has reverted to his mean for me, again I'll get the obligatory comments about how I hate him, but the last seven games he hasn't been great.

Last night he was awful, gave the ball away constantly, no real threat or purpose to his game. Garnacho came on and changed the game, if we could have Amad being that direct on one side with Garnacho the other it would change the way we play for the better.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but I think this is what to expect from Amad, a bit like Nani for me, brilliant when he's on it, but a lack of consistency when that happens.

He’s not gong to score a hat-trick in every game. He was fine last night, he can get out of tight spaces and create space, very few of our players can do that.

Plus he played two roles yesterday. First half he was the right 10 with no overlap support and so he was overcrowded everytime he picked up the ball. Second half he was the wing back and looked far more menacing with more space to work with.

For me, we need to play him at wingback. He is good enough offensively but an amazing wingback in the attack. As a 10, he is good but not amazing and we should look to get in better than 10s so that we can move him to wingback full time.

However, given our total lack of decent 10, and him being maybe our only decent attacker, I understand why we play him as a 10. Hopefully that can change after a good window.
