His workrate has always been there, even in his debut season. People always used his slight frame against him to say he has no defensive workrate. He has always been a pressing player, going into duels with intensity. It helps that he put on some muscle.
Always been very effective in the press - I've said it before, but I think his quickness surprises defenders. This was a feature of his earliest games, even before he went on the loans.

The bit he needs to develop is arrogance on the ball to take it and make something happen at every opportunity, which he's shown in the last 2 games.

and a double pivot, instead of trying to reinvent the basics of football

Garnacho's are not impressive either, and these stats further illustrate his greed. Amad is the balance we need out there. It has to be Amad plus one on the wings going forward
Yes. I don't think either should be starting for us.

There were many many things ETH deserved the sack for…his constant underuse & undervaluing of Amad is one of them. The man could not evaluate a good talent if it smacked him in the face.

As for Amad, he’s just a joy to watch. A lovely mixture of fantastic technical ability mixed with great tenacity & work rate. Really hope he kicks on under Amorim.
Yeah and people gave the excuse of Amad not taking his chances to impress early in the season for him being dropped.

He did enough that he won player of the month in August and ETH proceeded to bench him because Rashford and Garnacho scored against lower division teams in the league cup.

ETH really was an idiot when it came to his favourites.

Hardly surprising. He makes the team play better because he can actually pass the ball

And carry it. The team massively lacks someone who can do that. Part of why Luke Shaw is/was such a big player for us in the build-up for that reason

And just generally tries to make smart decisions each time. With Garnacho and Rashford you genuinely get the sense that they already make up their mind on what they want to do as soon as they receive the ball, whether that’s the best option or not

All his good moments this season.

One-footedness is the fakest issue fans have with players they don't like (and especially left footed players).
He doesn't do anything with his right foot, this video makes it apparent.

He could be better in dominating situations in a way where he doesn't need his right foot, but ultimately seems as one footed as Antony (who's scored a few for us with his right foot) or even more.

I honestly can't tell whether you're dismissing the one-footed claim or supporting it.

The issue with being one-footed depends on how much it limits you or how easy it allows opposition defenders to stop you. Some players can be incredibly one footed but still happily go either way, create space or just still be effective. Meanwhile other players can be very one-dimensional because of it, allowing defenders to quite easily shut them down and severely limiting their effectiveness. Antony falls into the second category. Amad, so far at least anyway, has quite a bit more variety so while there have been times that it's limited his options it's certainly not as clear as it is with Antony.

Ipswich 1:1 Man Utd New
He has to be played as a forward, too far away from the box today.

Can’t play right back again. He left his half once to create the goal and the second time in the 92nd minute which was basically our best half chance of all second half

Did his job today quite well. 2 attacking actions, plenty of defending. Not sure what else he's expected to do. Clearly a #10 in this system, not a wingback.

You can't play your best attacking/technical player as right back all game and expect to win the game. Amad did well for whatever he was asked to do.

I know its his first game there but he isnt defensively capable for things like headers to play as a wingback. There's not enough space in the PL to play Amad as a wingback & his influence on the game slowly started deteriorating. He would be better as the RF and Bruno as a CM.

Amorim is clearly rotating his squad around and see who fits best in each position.

Antony for me should be a better left footed RWB than Amad.

He’s our best and most dangerous attacker. Can’t have him playing as the deepest outfield player for much of the game. One of the 10 positions must be reserved for him. Mazraoui at RWB if we’re going to stick with 5-4-1.

Only (outfield) player who shows any kind of urgency and creativity.

Far too good to be playing wingback. Get him in one of those #10 positions. Best player on the pitch for us.

He needs to be closer to the opponents box and not ours. He is a proper baller and love watching him play.
