Haven't watched the game, was he really that bad? Reading the comments, it's really worrying, we all know he is not a top class player, and he will never be one, that much is non arguable, but I was hoping he would be a productive attacker that can be decent for us this season.

I'd put his performance in the 3/10 bracket, purely because when the ball found him he done some of the basics that you'd expect. I'd put his workrate at 0/10. He just didn't move, very static, very uninterested, just played as if it was a chore.

He let Arsenal players run past him, didn't run back, made very little effort top put himself in space or make forward runs. He was the definition of a "passenger". If he simply walked off the pitch and left us a man down - i doubt we'd even know. It wouldn't have mattered if he was there or not

Anyone who thinks this guy has a future here has lost the plot.

He's never ever going to play for us with passion - he's years overdue a move. He hasn't looked motivated to play and do the hard yards since he was in his early 20's. Guy has robbed a living off early promise, just like Lingard did. Absolute fraud of a footballer

This guy has bags of talent but unfortunately has a heart of a kitten. I mean like something is seriously wrong with him psychologically. Soon as he came on, he pulled out of a 5050 challenge with fecking Saka of all people. Last season this fixture, think a similar thing happened when he ducked out of a challenge which led to Jesus scoring. But you get the idea, there are way too many 5050s he is simply afraid or chosee not to contest. It is infuriating to see.

Did the same for our 4th Everton goal as well.

With regards to his motivation levels, the signs were there when he and Lingard did their whole 0.012% schtick. He's made it. Generational wealth from being a professional footballer. He's not interested enough to actually do something great in football. He's already a great, in his mind, because he's made it out of poverty. He might be right in a normal person kind of way, but normal people are not going lead Manchester United into winning league titles and European cups.

Said it in the game thread, but I would have subbed him back off.

There was a situation, late in the game, when we lost the ball on the counter in Arsenal’s half. He was pretty close to the ball, and instead of reacting and trying to sprint off and putting some pressure on, he just jogged off. I can excuse many things, but being apathetic is not one of them.

At the end of the day we have a new coach and he means business and doesn't seem worried about making the tough decisions and calling players out on their deficiencies. This Rashford situation will be resolved by the new year, he won't be in the team anymore. This manager will pick on form, pick players who are fulfilling their roles and duties on the pitch and players that are working hard. Rashford hasn't done any of these things in years, he won't be accommodated anymore. What happens in the summer, who knows, he's a fraud, he's not a professional footballer, I can't see him going anywhere, but I don't see him part of our first team after this season, and to be honest, probably for a large part of the second half of this season. I wouldn't be shocked if Rashford was no longer a footballer by the age of 30, if he can't handle it at a club that bends over backwards to accommodate him, that has probably one of the most supportive, forgiving fanbases in the world then he won't hack it on the outside either.

And the small handful of his fanbois that seem to be living in some alternate reality, they will be sat down. They will kick and scream a little bit, being that wrong for that long has to be embarrassing and a bruise to the ego, but reality will smack them in the face at some point.

Hopefully sold in January. If I’m Amorim he would be subbed off after chickening out from his first 50/50 challenge right after coming in, would have been a proper statement this kind of attitude won’t be accepted at this club.

Next time people complain about ticket prices, remember Rashford's on £300k and one of the best paid players in the PL and hasn't put in a single performance to justify that since signing that contract.

Exactly. You didn't make any comment did you.
What does the fact that nobody commented change about his performances, and more importantly his attitude? Congrats on your moment of vindication I suppose but.

Well he has survived 3 full time managers with up and down play since he became a regular under LVG, so would it be that crazy to think the current decisions makers make a 4th keep him.

So we should absolve every other player for failing to defend the corner along with every other corner Arsenal got where they consistently won every header?
Have you checked the title of this thread?

This is what happens when you give the keys to a club to a player who isn’t worthy of it. United as a club are so desperate to have homegrown stars.
Exactly this, plus we're so in love with our own history that we believe that 'characters' = United players. Modern football is won by robots not mavericks.

I suspect Marcus is going to fall into Mourinho's 'how they play/where they play/if they play'' bracket when he runs down his contract.

I suspect he'd happily never set foot on a pitch again if his income was guaranteed, he looks like he has totally fallen out of love with the game.

He is a disgrace. Too lazy to even show appreciation for a few minutes to the most loyal travelling away fans.

Just find a swap deal and get rid of this imposter.
I wouldn't leap to judgement from this 11 second video. I've seen players be the first to go over to applaud the away fans before their teammates belatedly come over 2 minutes later. Perhaps this is one of those instances. If that was the case, then sure, he could've stayed applauding them for longer, but it's not a big deal as long as he hasn't ignored them entirely.

We were having problems with Arsenal's corners all game, to a ridiculous level, and there was one moment where he tried to flick the ball up and kick it away near the corner flag and unfortunately the flick ended up going out for a corner. Not sure if Arsenal scored directly from that one but it was just one of those moments where every United fan screams "for feck's sake!"

Other than that, it was just the lack of impact. Amorim started a very hard-working but ineffective forward line in Garnacho-Hojlund-Mount and was probably hoping his attacking subs would come on and get a smash and grab. We got worse when Rashford, Zirkzee and Antony came on though, with only Amad looking pretty threatening.

Again, it's just the lack of impact or intensity. You expect more.

Just don’t think his off the ball work will mean he’s anything but an impact sub.

He got 30 minutes or so and was letting people jog by him, it’s just unacceptable.

The goal came from that corner

Rashford, Lingard and Sancho are from the same mould. Their extravagant life is more important than their football. Mentally weak and lack confidence and effort. Can't believe we have all 3 of them.

He is protected inside the club and he is on a contract that makes him unsaleable. Going nowhere. Just get used to it. Too bad for this coach, though.
I think so too, how he can be so undroppable given how bad he is and I’m not talking about Amorim. Every manager seems scared to drop him. Even Rooney wasn’t this untouchable. But then I wonder, who’s protecting him and for what?

He's not the reason we lost the game. But he didn't help us much, or himself either..... If as had been suggested, he was in his feelings because he didn't start.... That's not the way to win the haters over (nothing likely will tbh). Hopefully it's not that, and anyway I trust the manager et all to handle it and only play him on merit....

Nothing new to be said but it's a shame, let the pile on commence.
Roy keane criticised him for the same things he’s criticised for as a footballer. I guess he’s piling on too and I guess he’s a hater too.

Same here. That's real scorched earth stuff though re a relationship between manager and player. Big call for someone just through the door.

Our best paid player and starboy and he can't even get into the England team. Our standards couldn't get any lower

I don't know I haven't heard it, you tell me?

Found it funny what he was trying to do for the corner that resulted in their 2nd goal. Anyone in that situation would try to hit the ball against Odegaard so that it goes out for our goal kick or throw in. But not our guy. Wanted to try a fancy flick to clear it somewhere else. Guess he really is that bad that even small things like that need to be coached.

If hater = recognising he's washed and needed selling a year ago then sure I'm a hater

A sub that won’t run can’t impact a game. I never get personal with footballers but I think I dislike him.
He is from Manchester, this club has given him more than he could ever dream of, he’s young, fit and at a club that has backed him and protected him.
The least he can do his give 100%. The fact that he doesn’t despite all these things is tough to take.
Can someone even ask him ahat his celebration means? If it is referring to mentality, it would be the biggest irony.

Are you sure of asking that question? Because you are the one who’s saying it’s pile on and abuse anyone who’s criticising him for last night performance.
You just made that up....

its a meme now, i find it hilarious.

One good game and so many in here were calling out any criticism prior to that as stupid and 'toxic'. That's exactly the problem with Rashford. He gets far too much leeway for how consistently bad he's been over the past 4 years. In that period, he had one purple patch under ETH, where his all round play was still pretty poor in my opinion, but he was scoring basically every time he shot. He basically has to be doing that or he's useless as a player. No football IQ, poor technique, terrible mentality, terrible attitude and he's lost a yard of pace which was vital to his game.

I’ve never thought he looked close to the player he was post back injury in 19/20. His numbers were decent in 20/21 but the general threat level wasn’t the same. Then his last hurrah was the first ETH season where he caught absolute fire in front of goal during the winter but as you said his general play was just “okay” (pretty sure underlying metrics backed it up too).

Sad, because the first half of that 19/20 season he really did look like he was doing a budget CR7 impression and was explosive as feck. But since then it’s just never been the same and his athleticism that he relied upon has just gotten worse and worse with each passing season. At this point he doesn’t even remotely scare fullbacks.

It should be a priority to sell him this summer. Best for both parties to move on in my opinion

I really struggle to comprehend some of the abuse he gets from our own fans sometimes.

The comments on the post he made on twitter about Kath are so fecking grim.

Internet is a relatively anonymous shithole. People cross the line because there are no repercussions.
Nobody knows if those a**holes are fans or abusive trolls.

The more time passes the more I believe that has a minimum appearance clause inserted in his contract
