Someone should sit him down and say no Bs and just ask him Wtf is up.

Keeping this guy is indefensible at this point. He has been unbelievably terrible for years and consistently ruins games. If we can't get rid of him, he has to be permanently sidelined. There's no other choice. This club will predictably fail until he no longer plays for us.

To play Rashford is to actively and knowingly sabotage the team. It's as good as throwing the game. It simply cannot be justified. There's no sense in calling for patience, he has been probably the very worst player of his wage bracket in the literal world for some years now.

I remember when he first came on the scene and did so well for LVG, I think it was Gary Neville who said that even internally in the club they were surprised at how well he was doing as he wasn’t a stand out player coming up through youth football expected to make it big.

I think that his technical level and general play was never particularly good, but that initial enthusiasm combined with his athleticism and shooting ability meant that he could have bursts of effectiveness. Now he’s lost that desire and his athleticism is waning he just looks lost. If he left Utd today I genuinely could not see him having any impact at another PL club - he just doesn’t have it mentally

Nailed it. I also remember RE : the first paragraph. He was never a standout at Youth level. He only played in that game vs Midtylland or whoever it was because there was literally nobody else available.

Arguably his career best run of form came in his first ten games for the club and he's made a career out of that.

The club are culpable, because they were desperate for a good news story, the classic "local lad come good", so they pushed the hype and created an "Emperors New Clothes" type environment in which fans forums went crazy and every pundit waxed lyrical about this "world class talent".

Those of us who dared suggest he might actually not be Ronaldo and Mbappe rolled into one were laughed out the room.

Seriously, I genuinely believe that 90/100, given exactly the same set of circumstances, Rashford doesn't score vs Midtylland, doesn't score vs Arsenal, goes back to the reserves once players returned from illness / injury...is eventually released or sold on for a small fee and carves out a career in the upper levels of the Championship or a bottom half PL club.

He was god awful. No effort. Put zero pressure on their back line. Didn’t run in behind. Just received and passed the ball backwards. Complete waste of space on the pitch.
He’s getting worse which is pretty good going as he’s been awful for a long time now.

This isn't any sort of argument when he had an absolute smashfest of a season a couple of years ago.

Why is he still here? Why is he still being selected?

Learn fast Ruben, he's seen off four permanent managers already...he'll ruin you too if he's not frozen out
His mate Mourinho could of told him that for free. But after tonight, he'll definitely know.

So so bad.

Really hope we can get rid ASAP.

I was a Rashford apologist for a long time but I can't stand to watch him slowly ambling around and ducking out of challenges anymore. He has to go.

Needs to be the first one out of the door.

Mainoo can be the new Manchester boy academy poster boy now.

That is literally the only reason Rashford is still at the club.
I disagree. Mainoo hasn't done enough yet to be the poster boy and even his performances have fallen off a cliff this season. We need to stop putting young players on such a high pedestal.

I hate absolutely everything about him as a player. He doesn’t have a single redeeming quality anymore. And that’s before we even start on his disgusting attitude and pathetic work rate. He couldn’t make it clearer that he couldn’t give a single flying feck.

Cannot wait for the day he leaves the club. I’ll pop a bottle of champagne.

I’m not even saying that. Lack of desire, confidence and focus is not necessarily down to a mental health problem.

Unless he is injured I can’t explain how he goes from his 30 goal season to this other than something mentally. What’s your explanation?

It can happen. Even that season, it was very up and down. Not much before the world cup. Scored in a couple of league games. Then that really good run. But then finished the season with about 2 goals in 10 games or something.

Kind of all over the place as a season goes.

Plus he was poor for the 18 month before that season.

So this current "form" really isn't that strange or unusual.

To me hes the last in a particularly toxic group including lingard and pogba

Fairly sure he already knows. Hence why he started against Plzeň today and won't start against City.

I think I'm fine with rotating players in and out except with this guy, who i just dont want to see starting for us anymore. You can make some argument for other under performers but there's basically nothing positive to say about Rashford most matches these days.

Has he been shocking this season or have you just convinced yourself of that? He has 10GA in 1400 minutes, which is on pace for a 30GA season. He’s also created several good chances, which others have missed, and has regularly made excellent runs which would have seen him in on goal if the pass had been made. In a decent team he’d be on 15-20GA playing exactly the same way.

Added to that, he’s so far been played in 4 different positions I think, one of which is completely new to him. He’s been available for every match and, frankly, has been treated fairly bizarrely by both permanent managers.

In no way shape or form has he been “shocking” this season. He’s been one of our better players in a terrible season.
No need to convince myself of anything. Rashford does it for me week in week out like we saw once again tonight vs a second rate team.

You'll forgive me for not putting too much value on 10GA when 3 of them came vs Barnsley but if that's the only measure of a player then Garnacho beats him on that (12) and he's hardly been lighting it up this season either.

Get rid as a priority and thankfully INEOS seem to think the same.

Saw posts last game about him being a useful impact sub.
The point of an impact sub is some who will come on run and cause chaos. A player that refuses to run and work hard can’t be an impact sub.

He is worse than Welbeck
Welbeck at least knew how to get into position to receive ball. Rashford is completely disinterested at everything, unless that is a quick counter attack where he can run at defenders and give the ball away in the process.

I’ve defended him for many a year, but he needs to go.

He looks miserable, Amorim looks miserable with what he sees and I’m miserable watching.

Miserable.

He's a bit like General Zod in Superman 2 who had his powers suddenly drained from him, and we've been left watching the outcome on the pitch for the last 18 months or so.

I can handle bad form. I can’t handle zero effort. When a guy is making 300k a week and clearly doesn’t give a feck enough to even muster a little effort, he can feck right off. He’s actively sabotaging the team at this point. I’d take 30 mill for him in January. I think that little of him at this point.

Agree with all of the opinions above.

Fed up of him. Don’t mind if he plays badly, can’t hate him if stuff doesn’t come off for him.

Not working or appearing to not give a shit. Can absolutely do one.

It is over now for him right?

Well, considering how his season has started and january being just 19 days away, i can’t really imagine that anyone is going to make an attempt at signing him in the january transfer window.

Which means that the earliest opportunity to get rid will be the summer transfer window, so it’s not like he doesn’t have time to turn things around under Amorim and prove that he actually belongs here.

Imo, Amorim commenting on Mount’s mentality, his determination, then making it clear that Rashford himself must want it in order to return to his best self, i think it’s pretty clear that the manager isn’t pleased with what he’s seeing and when he’s that direct in public i can only imagine what’s being said behind closed doors.

I’d be very surprised if this is something he manages to turn around.

I've said it on this forum a number of months ago that selling Rashford should be a matter of absolute priority for this club and my view has only solidified since then.

He's clearly phoning it in at this point. He's a negative influence on the squad. If you're a player earning a fraction of what Marcus is on, and seeing what he's contributing (or more aptly not contributing) to the team, it must be a drag on team morale.

He's obviously not happy here so it's best for all parties if we parted ways in January.

In his career he's had two or three okay seasons, one very good season, and like seven seasons where he was absolutely terrible. At least three of them, he was probably the worst player at the club. All told, he has had a very poor career. Most overpaid player ever, and it isn't even close. He has never scored more than 17 league goals in a season. In 6/10 seasons, he scored less than ten. How the feck is he on world class superstar wages?

A goal per 340ish minutes played both for club and country, as a forward and often the primary striker. Other than the one season where he genuinely did well, I don't really think he's even PL material, let alone a club that means to get back to the top and compete for the title. He's just not a good player at all. His career is built on his social media presence and the public goodwill he got from feeding schoolkids.

Totally agree. Would love to see it But I doubt we would get 30 mill with his wages. Get rid of him anyway at all. Wouldn’t be a fan of hurling abuse at him or anything like that but he’s just not mentally in it and was never that great to start but that’s not necessarily his fault. He just has to go.

He was always on the same level as Danny Welbeck. Except Danny tried more.
I’d even do a straight swap now if the other team covered the wages

Really hope the rumours about us selling him are true.
A complete waste of rations.
Don’t even need a transfer fee just him and his farcical wages off the books.
