Zirkzee is one of those players that you're never quite sure they mean it when they do brilliant things on the pitch, until you find out it's a pattern or watch the replays.
E.g. the goal he scored for us at first glance looked it was a random fluke, the goal he scored yesterday as well, some of the deft passes he lays off just look like he makes contact and hopes

this is Josh who we know in Bologna. Yesterday the goal seemed casual to me, while the assists are his game. With a center forward who moves he is able to send him to the goal. But he needs to have teammates nearby until he gets used to the speed of the PL, however he knows how to play first intention football well.
The problem for him is that our team don't make fast movement one two football when attacking. We are slow and static that make his skills useless. He thrive in short fast passes in attacking.

That is interesting, and I am very excited to see how he pairs with Hojlund under RvNs coaching. Rashford and Hojlund had a decent connection last season, but Rashford was still too inconsistent (or selfish) in terms of passing vs shooting. Someone more dedicated to assisting would work better with Hojlund.
It does seem that the pace of the PL is a bit too much for Zirkzee at the moment, hopefully he'll grow into it as the season progresses.

Guy is not a finisher but the rest of his game on the ball is about 5 levels above Hojlund. Really silky and impressive performance.
Looks great as long as he isn't in the box. Would like to see him behind Höjlund.
This guy is going to brilliant for us if he can improve his finishing. His short link up play and ability to pick passes behind defences unlocks defences
Some nice buildup play passes, some poor dribbling and less than convincing finishing. Luckily other players had a finish today so it didnt cost us

Good game but disappointing that he didnt score.
Really composed link up play. A lot of passes that are simple to execute but you have to see them first time and he does. Could and should have had two goals but even despite that it was a really good performance.
A mixed bag in the first half but grew into the game and was really good overall.
You don't feel like the ball touches his feet before his passes or shots.
Less feckin around in front of goal, and he'll be all round power striker.

Very encouraging performance. If he can sort his finishing a bit we have a very good player on our hands.
Zirkzee is definitely a second striker. Looks brilliant dropping deep and picking out passes to teammates rushing into the box.

Some very good build-up play today. Should’ve scored but even in that chance he made the right decision and sent Ramsdale the other way.

His finishing is fine, just slow. If he can start getting the shots off as quickly as he does the passes he'll be grand.
If you could combine him with Hojlund you'd have a world class player.

Played well. Isn't a killer in front of goal though but I'm curious to see him and Hojlund play together
His best performance, got a Berba like quality where things are too easy for him which is both a strength and sometimes a weakness.
I was worried about him but actually think players are using him as a wall now which is clearly his strength which and you think about it suits players like Rashford to the ground.

He's getting there, really getting involved. Just needs to be more decisive in front of goal.
People will criticise the missed chance but he’s a very good footballer. His control and passing are fantastic.
In build up play he is few levels above Hojlund. He is also in chance all the time so goals will come. Love this signing.
