Seriously who bought him? He couldn’t get into Netherlands team or bench, every red flag was there. He will never be good enough for us and we should just sell him again.

Still think eth set us 5 years back with his signings.
I think it’s been documented that ETH didn’t want him.

Comparing him to Fellaini is equally preposterous and the only reasons to do it are his size and hairstyle.

In reality he is like a shit and lazy version of Berbatov, which is not a good thing, obviously.
Size and hair, slow lumbering style and being utterly off the pace for us.
He could be classed as a crap version of every ex United striker who has played nore than 50 games too.

I’d love for Zirkzee to have Felllanis GOAT chest control. Unbelievable technique.

Didn't do much but so fecking pleased one of our players actually held the ball and ran to the corner to run the clock down. Drives me nuts when Bruno has all the time in the world in the 94th minute when we're up 1 and decides to shoot or cross.

I was rewatching the Amad goal. Drama is unfolding in the box and my boy Zirkzee is jogging behind it like he's on a beach. If there was a rebound there to gobble up, it goes begging. It's been a great day but he has to do better.

Even when the ball goes in, as Casemiro and everyone else are going bonkers, he's initially jogging

That annoyed me. Amad’s bust a guy and Zirkzee did nothing to offer any help. Is he taking Xanax before every game or something? If this guy is training better than Rashford and Garnacho then they definitely should be ashamed

Now that we’re all on the same page regarding Amorim’s fantastic work with this squad, can we give these young players a break? If Amorim uses them we should have faith in them and not be nitpicking their performances after every match.

Zirkzee may not fit Amorim’s style, but he’s nowhere near as bad as this thread suggests and deserves time. Let’s reserve judgement at least till summer.

tbf, the run he made at the end to get the ball to the corner was fantastic, he was fighting a City defender or 2 and came out with the ball

I see here that he's not popular but I gave him a 7 yesterday. Everyone got a base of 6 then marked from that. I gave him the extra mark because at the end he didn't do anything stupid. He hold the ball for 30 seconds or so and didn't give City a final attack.

Whilst it is what you would expect from a professional footballer we do seem as a team to make a lot of stupid decisions and he didn't. It really matters and he made the correct choice.

The post about him jogging behind Amad is a bit disconcerting.

Good post

Loved his bit of physicality and hold up play, fighting for the ball and running down the clock at the end of the game. Reminded me of Rasmus doing likewise at the end of the cup final.

Shows that he can look very effective when he injects some intensity into his game as well.

Just doesn't look like a Premier League player. I don't mean that in terms of quality (though that may also be true). Very difficult player to place.

Totally agree.

Those long leggy runs are interesting. Had one midweek.

Makes you wonder if the manager has got in his ear about putting himself about a bit more. Lets have it right his size and strength would be an incredible asset if you could increase his workrate and turn him into big physical forward. The tippy tappy player isn't going to make it in the Premier league so he needs to adapt or go.

If he can get more intensity in his game (like a lot of our players) he could actually be good. He’s got ability and he’s got the frame to actually bully people - you saw it at the end of the game. Give us that for 90 and he just might make it

Yeah, it was mad seeing him put himself about like a tank at the end of the game when we've otherwise seen nothing like it from him.

Hopefully he has a bit of a lightbulb moment from it.

What gives me hope for Zirkzee is that he's clearly improved his fitness since he came to United. It was a bit shocking to see him plod around the pitch like a pub player in his first few outings. If you're a striker in the PL you have to have some pace and some quickness. Maybe one or the other, but definitely not neither.

Love him giving it to the city fans.. remember when we played them at OT and their players kept kicking it into ours in the corner flag. There so arrogant.

Thing that worries me is this has been a big criticism of his even from the Bayern days. I worry it just won’t click with him to up the intensity because you’re right, he has the frame and technical ability to be brilliant.

It”s like watching Bambi On Ice, he seems float about the field with no purpose. He is built like a tank and looking at him you expect him to really put himself about and put his stamp on the game.He does not seem to like any physical contact of any sort.He also does not seem to run very much.He looks to be a real strange signing who I think will be moved on eventually.

I don't think that burly tanky playing style is his game, even though his frame suggests that. He sees himself as a more cerebral, techical type.
I agree though, there's a minimum level of physicality and intensity that you need to have to play, let alone excel in this league.
I believe he can reach that required physicality and once he gets use to the league's intensity, he'll be a proper menace.

Put it this way, the main tools he's got, aren't tools that you can teach. The physicality and intensity on the other hand, the coaches can help him get to with training programmes, so long as he wants it.

He seems to have made some adjustments in the last couple of games. His posture and weight seemed to be on his heels, like he was giving himself an extra fraction of a second to deflect the ball to a runner. He seems to have shifted his weight a bit forward and is upright now. Cantona used to have an upright posture. He could shift his weight more forward to at least make it look like he is going to pounce on any chance. At least for the optics it would look better.

Cue him starting the next game and being shit then everyone saying the opposite
Yep, people have short memories. A week ago it was Hojlund coming off the bench and making a difference. The reality is we need to sign another striker.
