The other plus side is that it strengthens our bench, as Hojlund coming on against tired legs is a very handy sub to have, or the other way around with Zirkzee nicking a goal or two off the bench. It really does work in everyone's interests if the Zirkzee transfer works out. It's good for him because he'll get regular, consistent football at a top club. It's good for the fans because we want to see players come to the club and succeed. It works for the club because it's money spent in a good way and it means we don't have to go back into the market immediately for a replacement, whilst also working out what to do with this player. E.g. do we sell him on straight away or keep him in the hope he works out.

In short: it makes everyone's life so much easier if he starts scoring. Also, the longer he goes without scoring, the harder it'll be for him. If he can go nearly 20 appearances without a goal, he could realistically go for another 20...which can't be good for confidence. His or the team's. Or the staff. Or the fans, for that matter.
Absolutely.

Also RA is trying to bond with the squad and be fair. Coming in and getting favourites immediately and limiting others isn’t real leadership nor is it smart.

It works to let everyone have the same platform whilst he works out the system and who has the desire to do what he wants.

I'd be lying if I said I fancy him as a player, but hopefully he grabs his second goal for the club today.

He's arrived.

Funny how playing in his natural position with a good coach can bring out of a player.

Very good performance, so many neat flicks.

Whatever you feel about him as a player in the long term you can’t help but be pleased for him there. Well taken goals.

Great performance today, looked sharper and fitter, and the first goal lifted his confidence as expected. It’s only one game, but it was a very good one.

Back to the level he showed against Southampton and Palace at times. The lack of tenacity will still cause issues against best teams and some away games I reckon, but those worst player ever to play for us (or firing a scout who find him) posts need to stop.

Back to back braces for our strikers. Things you love to see

Really glad he got his goals. Relief written all over his face, and we starting seeing some of the flicks and linkup play that we were originally expecting from him after there.

Here's hoping he keeps this level of confidence and continues to be a useful option going forward. He'd looked like a deer in the headlights since that Liverpool game otherwise.

Wasn't sure he'd put them away, but he did, so good for him. Has some crazy vision and picks the good pass more often than not.

Only one game, though. We'll see what happens.

Would love him to come good after so many fans had already gone two footed on him by his second game in a new league and country ffs

Damn good. Goals, involvement. And boy what a first touch and pass this man got. This is his position.

Will do him a world of good. Just knew he'd perform when those idiots Keys and co at Bein sports were making fun of him ahead of kickoff.

My MOTM (very close between him and Amad), proved a lot of doubters wrong today.
Really? Z was good, but Amad unreal today imo.
Not keeping faith in him, just not willing to write off a player during his first few months already
Exactly. For all the “let’s give him time” and “he needs to adjust to the PL” there’s at least one “not good enough, sell him!”

Second year in a row some fans write of a new signing before christmas. Onana last year, Zirkzee this year. Hopefully Zirkzee will make them look stupid just like Onana did.

Looked a lot better today. Still lacking intensity in those moments where it gets a bit bitty but some unreal touches and passes. The release to Amad for the third was magnificent and he took his goals well.

Once he regained confidence he looked a different player, I like him. Redcafe has to ease up off our players man...

Just offers something different to Hojlund, you would hope that they can learn from each other's strengths and round themselves out a bit more, Zirkzee will work better with the runners from the ten position, whereas Hojlund will thrive being that runner. It gives teams another problem to deal with and hopefully today's performance is one he can kick on from.

Was well below par but then Bruno crossed the ball towards him and he put it in. Better after that confidence boost and finished quite well

I like the fact that he had Bruno and Rashford behind him running ahead of him which meant he could do his things in bringing others into play, he also arrived at the box to score, there is a balance for him that if he gets it right he would be great striker for us.

People here even questioned his technique. Guy knows to play football. But, unfortunately some fans are stuck in FIFA world and judge players by their pace.

I'm happy for him today, but still don't rate his chances of succeeding here from what I've seen so far.

No he wasnt  Even before that he had created a huge chance that Amad somehow managed to not even get between the posts.

Love that celebration!

Played really well. He has the Firmino style of play about him. Some of his touches, flicks and through balls are lovely. Such a technical player. Hopefully he’s settling in now under a proper coach.

He had one good pass, he'd given up several passes that were just off target and that he could have reached if he had put the effort in. He didnt. He gave up and left them to Everton as easy ball returns. The effort was better after he had scored and he finished well in general
