The fact that he's deemed "not for sale", seems like MUs staff aren't watching the same player either.

Suspect the MU staff are the ones feeding these rumours into the market to drum up interest and sell him in the summer. I think they see the limitations and see him as more disposable than Maz.

Been woeful this season,

For me he lacks intelligence, giving penalty away against chelsea last season in injury time summed it up...what was he thinking?!
This season i can remember the stupid foul on the southampton youngster for their penalty, at fault for spurs first goal, at fault for Brighton's winner, missed open goal vs west ham, at fault for forest goal the other night along with Martinez.
He tries hard and runs hard but lacks football IQ and for sure he is no left wing back.

Would snap Madrid's hand off for £45million. Would go a fair bit to funding our rebuild and actually signing a WB that would work in Amorim's system.

I like Dalot but he's a player of extremes, it feels as if every game is a roll of the dice as to whether he puts in a 9/10 or 3/10 performance.

Swear he's more of a centre back in a 3 than a wing back. Never going to provide enough going forward to play that role.

Very worrying performances. Needs some time out of the first team but we know that isn't happening as no one else is available.

He actually defended fine, but my god he was absolutely atrocious on the ball in every third of the pitch. Bad touches, terrible passing, slow decision making, easily dispossessed... He had a moment in the second half where he cut in from the left and tried one of his ridiculous 25 yard shots and completely missed the ball that had me furious. Seems like he attempts this effort once or twice a game with multiple players in better positions and it absolutely infuriates me because it reeks of both stupidity and selfishness. If I was a coach it would be absolutely one of the things that immediately gets him hooked.

Why does this idiot always try to cut inside and shoot...?!

I was despairing at the team's performance and possibly the club's short-term future, worrying about what a huge job Amorim had on his hands, when suddenly Dalot stepped up, made a powerful run forward, shaped to bend one in the top corner and then hit an air shot and tripped over his own feet. I burst out laughing. One moment you're down and the next you're back up again. Thank you Diogo! Even in the darkest times we can laugh.

but yeah, another pretty average display by him. Hope he gets back to last year's form soon.

I don't know why he has such a big fanbase. He's either mediocre or outright awful.

Doesn't deserve to start on Sunday based on his performances this season. A lot of his strengths from last season seem to have gone and more basic errors have crept into his game.

If its true that Madrid want Dalot, we should snap their hands off. I'm sorry, he's enthusiastic but he is not the level needed. Tonight showed that again. Switches off too much, does not offer enough going forward.

He's not playing well because he's playing on the left.

Nope.

He's not playing well because he's shite.

How Dalot lasted 80 minutes ! People will say Rashford or Onana were our worst players but for me Dalot was by far our worst player.

He's not the best at decision making and when he gets the ball near the final third it's easier to get back to basics (you don't need to think much in order to line up a shot — or to send a blind cross into the box after beating your marker on the wing) instead of trying to assess the situation around you and make a progressive pass for example. And he rightfully doesn't trust himself enough to slow down with the ball as he's going to get dispossessed pretty quickly.

He’s not world class but he’s never been so bad as this season. The cynical of me thinking that he wants United to sell him and probably on cheaper price, knowing that Madrid have shown real interest through his agent.

Otherwise it doesn’t make sense on how a club like Madrid still want him.

Think that rules him out of the wing back role. Not that he was ever going to be capable of playing there in this system. Theres a huge demand on those positions in this set up. You have to be creative, decisive, quick and have intelligence. All things he doesn’t have. As much as we all probably want Amad further forward he’s the most suitable option until we sign a proper wing back.

That may be so, but in my view he has been playing at this level most of this season, also in a traditional FB role.

Last season was his best ever so far. He was almost an everpresent in a team struggling all year, and then went to the Euro’s. He has always had a concentration lapse or two in him, his decision making in thw last third has always been sub par, and I suspect him og not being the quickest to understand the fine workings of a new system to put it mildly - but his drop off from last season has been cliff steep and for me points towards mental exhaustion more than anything.

I think if he’s sharp and knows the role, he will be a good defensive WB with limitations n the last third. I’d say he needs a proper break first.

Don't agree here. I don't think, he plays particularly worse than before, the focus on more traditional fullback or wingback capabilities just highlights what others have noted long before: that he doesn't add anything of note to the attack. With ETH he often would go into midfield where he could then add a keypass which is held in high regards on here (Shaw exactly the same, still has lots of fans on here, even though he isn't really doing much as a fullback in terms of attacking output. It is always "key passes" while rarely giving opposition anything to be worried about.

Dalot seems to be a good professional, he is fit and reasonably strong. But at this point, it becomes less and less likely that he will turn the corner and develop something that is above average in terms of game intelligence. The guy can contribute for now but I don't see anything that suggests that he could be part of a fully functioning and competing Manchester United 1st team. So if possible, cash in or at the very least, don't let his existence come in the way of recruiting for the positions he plays in. We need better from this positions, the only hope for him is, that this applies to many positions so he can/could be safe for a while. But that doesn't make him better.

Another average footballer who needs to go....Sooner the better.

The guy needs to go not because of his skill or workrate, but because of lack of decision making due to low IQ.

He's not at his best on the left side, he's not good enough in attack for a wing back, and he's been badly overplayed for a long time. He's a good player in need of a rest.

His level has dropped loads this season. Hope he can figure it out and get back to what he can be, as he can be a very strong wing back. He'll keep playing because he actually stays fit but he's probably close to being dropped, if only we had somebody who could step in his place.

Does some ok things and provides an outlet but unfortunately the lad is limited by his utter brainlessness. Always good for at least three idiotic deciscions a game. Final ball is also fecking awful.

He's been terrible so far this season that I am now questioning how good was he last season? Was it a case of best out of a bad bunch? I am now rethinking what I thought of him, the amount of time he got played into space and did nothing of note is astonishing.

The 'other' clear and obvious weakness limiting Amorim's game plan currently (the first being the lack of a real goalscoring monster up front). He's an attacking dead end and we basically only attack dangerously down the right.

It's not his fault, he's not playing on his better side. He should be a very creditable back-up on the right, not first choice on the left.

He has started every single game in the PL for a year, not counting the extra cup/European games. We're talking 36+ consecutive starts in a position that requires so much sprinting forward/tracking back, especially in a team like ours under Ten Hag where we essentially played basketball games. That's just absurd. This is obviously not the player we watched last season, and anyone who thinks he's magically lost what made him good is obviously not paying attention. He's just exhausted physically and mentally, he needs a rest.

He is fit to play when some others are not - that is an important quality. But we would be so much better with a proper LWB

Zero football IQ. can't cross. can't shoot.

Just look at last week's game when in the 90th minute he sent the ball into low earth orbit from the edge of the penalty area with at least 3 United players around him in much better position to either receive a pass or shoot. Comical

Feel like a dick joining in on a pile on but need to get this off my chest. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a defender who is such a consistently poor judge of the trajectory of a football. He’s tall and has a great spring on him but seems completely incapable of timing that leap so he’s at his maximum height as he gets to the ball.

Got into my head after the Arsenal game and now I can’t unsee it. It’s wild how often this happens. City goal was an example, then 5 minutes later Doku floats a cross to the far post and sure enough, he sails through the air, misses the ball completely and midget Silva beats him to the header.

Someone like Amad is the complete opposite. Makes the best possible use of every inch of his height and punches well above his weight.

I suffered the same affliction myself as a player. I think Hojlund has the same issue too. But it’s a fecking disaster for a defender to have this specific flaw in their game.

Few times he got in got in one on one postions and just stops and passes back.

We need a LWB that can drive forward and beat a man when we get in to them postions.

His natural instinct is to play ball inside or backwards

His decision making is woeful.

I’m not convinced he is suited to being a RWB but as a LWB he is extremely poor. Don’t want to be too critical as he is playing out of position but I think he is someone who is going to continue to struggle in this system.
