Dalot is only a squad player, he is not XI RWB or LWB. If we have ambition then Dalot should be only a sub or a odd game once in the while. Currently he is starting every game which I think he wrong.

Its interesting that the opposition fans, including an Arsenal fan, messaged me during the game saying that it was never a yellow and the ref is awful, yet on here, everyone is convinced it’s all on Dalot.

I get he does frustrate a lot of us at times, and it was unnecessary- but he pulled out of the tackle and unlikely to be a second yellow under most refs.

It's just an unnecessary tackle. If a player, especially a player in this Ars team, is given the opportunity to make a meal of something they will and the fact is he's gone for a full stretch sliding tackle and his studs on his right foot are showing.

In my eyes it is a foul as the Ars player can legitimately say they had to avoid the tackle but it's not a yellow because he kind of pulls out, but why do it?

Thought he was playing well before the sending off. I imagine Amorim has them working on being more aggressive hence going in for the tackle. Just needs to be smarter especially during a match where the ref is clearly against us. He owes his teammates after they had to work so hard because of him..

We missed him tonight. Keeps width and offers an actual outlet on the wing. I hope the left foot crosses become a more regular occurrence though

I’m not sure this is entirely down to Dalot being supposedly better than Maz; Amorim has mentioned that we are essentially defending with 4 currently (Dalot usually pushing forward and Maz staying back on the right). Today, I think Maz was instructed to hang back on the left and Amad pushed forward on the right.

Could be wrong though.

Could be yeah, fair enough. Felt like Dalot provided more width than Amad though, at least until the latter decided to turn into Dani Alves

I think, it isn't just the width, isn't it? I mean, the idea of a wingback is that he is working the wide areas so opposition have to deal with him, thats were Dalot falls short, he maybe in the wider areas, but he isn't really making stuff happen. Dalot is great athlete though and in this United team, this makes him a very valuable player... Don't think, he would have made a lot of difference today

One of the first players I'd ship off. We could still get a decent amount of money for him and I want someone with a brain to play as LWB. Mazraoui wasn't better, but if one of them needs to go, it should be the one who gets us more money.

I'm so done with seeing him on the left. He might be a decent back-up RWB for a period, but every time he plays LWB it just sucks the soul out of me.

Can't believe we haven't fixed that problem yet. Even a loan of someone half-decent for the rest of the season would be a massive improvement.

one of our better players today, not sure why some here think otherwise.

Low bar but our best outfield player outside of Amad.

Played them onside for the second but once again we need to stop fecking about and just play him on the right. The only player outside of Amad that can consistently carry the ball forwards, stretch teams with his runs and defend on and off the ball.

Just infuriating to see the team so hamstrung with needing to play him on the left for 'balance' and play everyone else who just aren't offering as much.

Play him at RWB or RCB. That side will be locked down with Amad. It's so fecking easy.

edit: Forgot Zirkzee. Top 3.

Because they live to post hatred towards him

Anyone who sees that performance from United and thinks Dalot was the problem isnt much of a fan. He at least showed up and tried to aid the team going forward and was one of our better defenders today as well.

At the end of every attack because no other player makes runs in behind. It doesn't take a genius to see it.

Sure he is wasteful, especially on the left, but a better questions is why is he the only one with the understanding of how to find space for himself and the only willing runner?

In top 3 today, with Zirkzee and Amad. Not that average united fan can get themselves to admit it.

in the first minute he had a total brain fart gifting the ball to opponent for a dangerous counter.

it sets the tune of the whole game

just once and blamed for everything else that happened for the next 90+ minutes?

True enough, same posters who shit Dalot as well.

Because unlike most, he does actually bust a gut in defence and attack. It’s really not his fault that he’s being asked to play on the wrong side, you can see every time he goes through that he doesn’t trust his left foot.

Should just play Maz out of position if he won’t use anyone else on the left, because at least Dalot might contribute to the attack on the right.

I've never seen somebody who is so mediocre on the ball in an attacking sense get the ball so often, especially in attacking positions.

I die a bit inside when I see the ball go to him and he’s the furthest player forward. What is the point of having him drift into dangerous attacking positions if he can’t make the final pass, shoot or even make a sensible decision.

It’s like going to the frontlines of war with a water gun.

Well the Group that praises him is also not too diverse... Just accept that this place has different fans that have different standpoints. You have your bias's other people have theirs.

I think, he was ok today. Maybe even one of the better players but thats not much given that the average was 5.0 for most players.

Thats due to making good runs to be in a position to get the ball in attack. We need more players doing this
And having the physicality to keep making those runs. Our fans can’t have it both ways — you can’t bemoan the physical floor of the team and then be disappointed with the guy in the side who is probably the one who carries out most sprints and gets up and down the pitch the most

Very true

So... Who is particularly praising him?

Its been pointed out that while he wasnt great going forward he at least tried to join the attack and do something, which was lacking in general from the team and certainly from our RWB on the other side. And he also defended quite well on the couple of occasions he needed to do that, while once agian the other WB was awful with that and some of the 3 CBs werent particularly good at it either.

I didn't mean today but in general. And as said in my last post, I'd tend to agree with your take, I thought he was better than average today while most of his team mates were a bit below average.

I know Dalot is playing out of position but he has to be one of the least intelligent players we have. There were two or three times on counters where he received the ball and decided to run straight into the opposition defenders when there was space to run into on the outside.

The only credit I would give him is for covering well when Yoro slipped over during one of the Brighton attacks.

He absolutely destroyed every attack he got involved by being his usual stupid self. He was definitely part of the problem.

I feel sorry for him as he's trying his absolute socks off but he's on the wrong side and playing a role he's not capable of doing well and consistently. Maybe a bit better at RWB but I'd rather we play Amad there for a few games.

I’d like to see him have a consistent run of games at RWB.
I'd like to see him out. along with most of them he's just another example of our desire for mediocrity. yea he does his best, so what. I'm so fed up with him and the defence of him and others

Our LWB is a big problem , our options are Dalot and Malacia where one isn’t a LWB and the other we are trying to offload.

Dalot gets 10/10 for effort. 6/10 for ability and a generous 3/10 for intelligence.
Should be a backup squad member for Utd at best. Unfortunately circumstances dictate he’s going to be a starter for at least the remainder of this season.

I'm not his biggest fan but I think plenty aren't appreciating:

A) how difficult it is to beat a man when you're a fullback
B) How ridiculously more difficult it is on your wrong side.

Dalot can't be judged until he's back on the right.
