He was below par last season and the one before that. This is what we're working with as a club. Dalot wouldn't start regularly for any of our so called rivals
The squad voted him player of the year last season. If he was below par, it says a lot about our squad.

Player being played out of position and can't play well as he's not left footed. That's about it. Nothing more or less. Let's stop with the get him out of the squad bullshit.

He's a good role player on the right side. Keep Mazz/Him in RCB role, De Ligt up the middle and Yoro on the left.

It sure does, and you know this. There's nothing remarkable about Dalot. Describing him as being bang average is an understatement, but here we are. He's's a dead cert starter for us for the foreseeable future

Nothing new that we do not know already.

Willing and athletic enough. Some good, some bad but just not a natural there.

Being asked to do a job he cannot week in, week out.

I would probably replace seven players in the starting 11 before Dalot at right back. I’m not even judging him at left back, it’s pointless, he’s not a left back.

He is the worst LB/LWB i've seen for a long time. Why do 2 United managers insist on this?

He's Mr Average at RB and Mr Terrible at LB.

He is clearly half the player in that lwb position for this system. Feel a bit sorry for him.

He makes basic and stupid inexcusable mistakes no matter what side he's playing. He's been this poor before on the right as well, but people seem to forget or make excuses for him because they love his attitude and find him likeable

He's not a wingback. We actually could've fetched a decent fee for him the summer gone, as he'd had a few strong seasons under his belt. Now his value will have tanked, as everyone knows he's not the right fit and his form has fallen off a cliff.

You do understand that was for last season. He was playing right back and not left wing back.

so it’s always been his weakness but we’re expecting him to be even more of an attacking threat than before on the opposite side of the pitch. It’s one of the biggest problems in the 11 but I don’t really put the blame on him.

Neither do I for the most part which is why I said I insisting on playing him there yet expecting different results is pointless.

I still think his biggest problem is lack of actual football intelligence. Rarely knows what to do ahead of receiving the ball, holds on to the ball for too long which allows the opposition to cut off his alternatives and then he hoofs it blindly hoping it will reach a teammate. More often than not he’d be better of just blasting it as far away as possible.

The bolded applies to most of our team and the ones that do move it quickly feck that up 80% of the time

Absolute nothing player. As long as he is in the playing 11 our attack with only function from one side.

He was already nothing as a fullback so it's not that much of a downgrade.
C`mon. He is decent as a normal rb. It is his best position for sure. He has no qualities that suits this lwb role.
We could probably play Licha there and get a better result, at least we would see a good cross into the box once in a while.

Bit silly, might not be a world class right back but he is clearly much better there than left wing back

He is nothing anywhere on the pitch. Offers nothing other than a body on the pitch.

Is his defensive positioning good as a fullback? No. Constantly turns off or loses his man.
Is he good at tackling like AwB is? No
Does he have searing pace or dribbling ability? No
Can he bend in a vicious cross or ping a cross field ball under pressure? No
Can he dribble or get the ball out to the midfielders accurately under pressure? No.

IMO he is average to below average at everything in the pitch. He does have heart I'll give him that. Players like him belong in clubs that fight relegation, his averageness will be celebrated there, his heart might even get him captaincy but a first name at the club like Manchester United? Nah, its fecking ridiculous that he first in the team sheet.

Great post.
His average contributions have been celebrated here for a while. It's funny to me how he's been considered our 'best' player in two of our very worst PL seasons on record, with our worst defensive records to boot. He's not the sole problem but he's played a huge role in it.

He's had more poor displays than good ones since his return from the winter world cup but by reading some of the praises and excuses he receives you'd think he's going to turn into prime Cafu any second now. Being a passion merchant and teacher's pet really pays off for some

He’s the least intelligent player in our squad. Forget about his limitations as a LWB. He gives away needless free kicks not to mention lunging tackles to give away those penalties last season. His passing is also so poor.
To cap it all, those high fives every time we concede a corner just annoys the feck out of me.

Has always been average. Everyone was happy with him last year because he was consistent. For me, he was consistently average. Now with the change in position, he has become below average which is a serious problem.

On this, he has this ability to play passes into central areas that are so bad it makes you question if his brain stopped for a moment.
He will do it at least once a game.

Monster today. TAA will have nightmares and Salah relatively quiet. My MOTM but Ugarte and Bruno and Martinez are all up there too.

Game was too easy for him. Sure why not, how about an incredible trivella cross.

Really good game. Beat his man repeatedly and got the ball in the box frequently.

So much better when he’s driving forward and not cutting back onto his right foot!

His best attacking display in ages. We actually saw him able to use his pace kicking and running down the left wing and he put some of our better balls into the box

Stick him on the right with a left footed lwb
Definitely. Can't happen soon enough. I don't think Dalot will be amazing on the right or anything, but his end product should improve simply by virtue of being on his preferred side and playing crosses with his right.

Definitely. If he plays like that more often, then I am the last one to complain. Wonder if that was him having a really good evening or TAA having a really bad (my suspicion is it is more of the last one) but credit where credit is due. Do this more often!
