2-0. Wasn't expecting this.
It would be too defensive, I agree, but it hasn't really worked out for Alaba this game. I thought he was still injured until I saw him 5 min ago. Completely anonymous.I guess so. Sammer said earlier that Götze struggled with fitness and small injuries in the past few weeks, so he didn't start, Ribery is injured, Shaqiri sold and Schweinsteiger, Rode, Alonso in midfield would be really really defensive, so pushing Alaba further forward makes sense.
Nothing worked so far, awful performance. I don't think any of the Bayern players performed well.It would be too defensive, I agree, but it hasn't really worked out for Alaba this game. I thought he was still injured until I saw him 5 min ago. Completely anonymous.
Wow. Got a source for that or for any other teams?
This! His performances this season are really underrated, he does so many little things in midfield for us, even in his quiet performances he constantly connects midfield and attack and it's so important. He's also fantastic in tight spaces, while all our midfielders today aren't.Guardiola doesn't consider Müller an option for the central midfield at all (according to his book) so he'll avoid playing him there at all costs altough I think it'd make sense to have Alaba set up on the wing permanently in the 2nd half with Müller trying to bring more movement into the static midfield. Or Götze.
They usually play well but often struggle with their finishing. Schürrle might help with that though.Heh, i just hope Wolfsburg doesn't play like this when we face them in the Europa league
Wish some United fans on here would watch this game, that might give all the drama queens some perspective. A lot that's been said about United this season would also apply to Bayern's first half:
- Within 30 minutes, Boateng and also Dante played more than 10, possibly 20 long balls. Some decent ones, some poor ones.
- Bayern didn't create much. A good shot from Alaba from distance, one or two set pieces and maybe one or two other decent attempts. No real danger.
- Lewandowski was invisible, for the people slacking off Falcao and RVP.
- Alonso made himself available between the two CB's a lot. Not exactly 3 at the back, but some moments it looked like it.
Just shows how difficult it can be sometimes to play good football, even for an insanely talented group of players like Bayern.
Rodriguez was decent first half. Shaw is a great talent, has at least as much potential as Rodriguez. But he's nowhere as ready physically and mentally, shame we didn't get Rodriguez in the first place, or even better both.
Bas Dost was a very decent striker in Holland, but what's happening right now is probably the most succesful and also lucky 45 minutes he will ever play. Good for him though. Wolsburg looked very compact and have everything going for them, right attitude too. But with Bayerns quality, if they can get a quick goal, nothing is impossible.
