Bundesliga, DFB Cup, and other Bundesliga business 2014/2015

Dortmund feck up my acca for the 4th week running. I just cant believe they can keep on losing
Are you going to bet on Dortmund again next week? I'm really worried that you bet on Bayern and we'll lose :nervous: . Please don't.

@ItsEssexRob could you please place a cheeky bet on a Bayern win against Hamburg next week? It's 100% safe I promise. Thank you.

They've got Reus and Gundogan back, they got Kagawa back and they're worse than ever.

What the hell is going on? Is it a bit like us last year where every defeat just ruins confidence and adds pressure?

Dortmund had 4 shots on target - Hannover 3...

Next matches of Dortmund in the Bundesliga - Bayern away, Gladbach home, Paderborn away

Whelp so nothing changed for Dortmund in the league. I didn't see the game was it a deserved loss?
not at all. they should have led 2 or 3-0 when hannover scored via free-kick. no "regular" f*ck-ups in the defense, just very very sloppy conversion. reus himself missed two absolute sitters.

after having conceded the goal, dortmund were in shock, could have easily conceded one or two more goals in the next 5min

It was a dirty win by Hannover96, they parked the bus from the get-go, never tried to participate in the game aside from a handful of dangerous counter-attacks, commited clever tactical fouls when necessary, were very physical and awake. Overall they defended very well and could have scored 1-2 additional goals on the counter-attack, but Dortmund had enough opportunities to at least tie or win the game. Furthermore Ron-Robert Zieler proved with three world-class saves why Jogi Löw relies on him as the #3 in the German NT, whereas his competitor Roman Weidenfeller showed why he's in general not regarded as the most technically gifted goalkeeper. He often benefits from his enormous experience and good decision-making, but today he should have definitely saved the free-kick which gave Hannover the decisive 1-0 lead.

While I agree with Maze that Dortmund had enough chances to even win the game, the quality of those chances is definitely lower than what we were used to when Lewandowski was still playing CF for BVB. We talked about this issue over the course of the summer, I still believe Dortmund has to make drastic adjustments to their offensive playing stile to be successful in the Bundesliga.

Now they have to face Bayern München and Borussia Mönchengladbach, perhaps those two technically strong, possession-oriented teams will ironically enable BVB to make a turnaround. However the risk of getting decisively beaten is also very much real. Tough times for Borussia Dortmund.

Hoffenheim still undefeated. Great chance of getting Champions league this year.

Calhanoglu scored again, he's annoyingly good, isn't he? I really try to dislike him, but sadly he's actually a fantastic talent. 1-0 at the moment. If Leverkusen win the game, 4th place is already 9 points away from Dortmund, that really sounds like a lot.

After a good start at Leverkusen he looked useless in the past 5 games, much like the rest of the team. Not exactly great in the CL either so far.
He was better at Hamburg last season but it's early days still.

Shouldn't di Matteo sub in attacking players at one point? Thought the Kirchhoff for Neustädter substitution when being 1-0 down didn't make a lot of sense. I've also no idea why Obasi started the game and Meyer was benched when Boateng wasn't available.

So how long until people start to question di matteo?
I questioned him the second I read he was their new manager . He has been awful so far. They needed a manager who makes use of all the exciting attacking talent and he's the exact opposite of that.

For all the laughing at Leverkusen's regular bottle jobs this season, they aren't doing too bad. The two wins against Dortmund and Schalke really bailed them out, so they still are in or at least close to the top 4 depending on the results tomorrow, while also being top of their CL group.

Thanks for the summery guys.

It was just horrific defending there. Had Joselu and Kiyotake taken their chances it could have been worse for Dortmund. What's going on there, I mean honestly what's the reason for Dortmund's rut at the moment. Is it some psychological problems with the players or some kind of dressing room unrest or some tactical problems or bad luck or a combination of these factors? You can see Reus leaving the club at the end of the season if Dortmund's fortunes don't improve which would be a pity.

That's the second great freekick I've seen him score, he's an interesting player, doesn't have a stand out attribute like most #10's but drifts into good spaces and passes it accurately.

I'm honestly struggling to name a better and more consistent free kick taker than him in world football right now.

But the way you describe him doesn't really fit in my opinion. Calhanoglus shooting is amazing, and it's not only free kicks but in open play as well. His passing on the other hand is not one of his stand out attributes.

And tonight they are bottom of the league!
1860 lost again today and stay at the bottom, even though they weren't that bad from what I've seen. Beautiful. And Ingolstadt with another win, 5 points clear at the top .

Would be hilarious if their second team isnt allowed to get promoted because their first team gets relegated. That would be the icing on the cake.

Totally forgot about that, could our 2nd team benefit from that or would the opponent in the playoff game benefit? Unless of course those Würzburger Kickers finish top. Our second team only with a draw today by the way, 6 points behind the top after the first half of the season. We really fecked up too much in the first few games :(.

On a side note, if 1860 gets relegated, will they continue to play in the Allianz Arena? As far as I know, the Grünwalder Stadion can be used in the 3rd league.

Naldo with the goal, Wolfsburg take the lead against Mainz.

I'm still not sure what to make of this Wolfsburg team, their line-up looks so average, but after an awful start to the season, they really started to gel and play decent football. De Bruyne looks like he made another step forward.

FC Bayern / Line up: Neuer - Alonso, Dante, Benatia, Lewandowski, Rafinha, Bernat, Götze, Lahm (K), Müller, Alaba

Surprising line-up to be honest. No Boateng and I expected Ribery to come into the team with Robben injured.

Gladbach / Line up: Sommer – Korb, Stranzl, Dominguez, Wendt – Kramer, Xhaka, Herrmann, Hahn – Raffael, Kruse

That's more or less what I expected.

Wolfsburg all over Mainz in this game. Could've been 4 or 5 by now. De Bruyne is some player, involved in every attack, his passing is so good. Marcel Schäfer is playing on Rodriguez level today as well.

not entirely sure who would benefit from that. I think the second team still has a decent chance to finish first. Would 1860 even survive relegation? I wouldnt bet on that, but if they do, they will surely leave the arena(red seats ftw!).

Boateng had some injury problems recently. And Ribery has been out of play so long. It is better to bring him 30 minutes against weak legs than at the start. I would not rush things with him.

It's fascinating how well organised Favre's team is without playing any pressing at all. It's refreshing to play such a team. On the other side, it's also impressive how well our own pressing works, Gladbach is in my opinion the second best possession team in the league and usually keep the ball incredibly well, but they can't string more than 5 passes together. It's a great tactical battle even though it's not the best game.

I think we really need Ribery on the pitch. Or if he's still not fit enough for more than 20-25 minutes, I'd like to see Shaqiri on the right wing, playing Robben's role. The center of the pitch is crowded and while Götze doesn't mind drifting wide, he's not a real threat down the wing. To me it looks like the key to unlock Gladbach's defense is out wide and all we have out wide are Bernat and Rafinha as wingbacks.

Question for any Bayern fans: was LVG results in the early stages of his Bayern career this bad as they are now, and if so, what changed?

He lost most of his first 5 to 7 games. Radical changes in tactics did that. He tried many things. He has the balls for it.
We were really bad in our CL group till a 4:1 in Turin. From there we went to the final.
Overall he did a great job in his first season. But Robben was in god mode in the second half of the season too.

Difficult to say what exactly changed. At one point it just clicked. The movement all of a sudden became cohesive, the players became more confident, the passing had a purpose. At the end of November we were still in 7th place in the league and lost twice against Bordeaux in the CL, sitting only in 3rd place in the CL group. 2 good performances in the league and an incredible 4-1 away win in the CL against Juve changed everything. We never looked back and went on a winning streak in all competitons.

Neuer is saving our ass today. Could Ribery please do something brilliant that leads to a goal now, I'm really getting nervous :nervous:

Started watching this game after ours, Gladbach could well be a serious contender for second place ahead of Dortmund.
