Do you think there will be a Deal or No Deal?

  • Total voters
    194
  • Poll closed .
With a deadline of April for nominations I think
I believe the libs are compiling a list of candidates incase the elections go ahead in the uk

In France candidates have to present themselves between 21st April and 2nd May and the elections are on 26th May.

If the Uk did hold elections and MEP's were elected, I've no idea what happens next - would they sit for the full five years meaning the UK can't leave until 2024?
Makes no sense just to sit for possibly a few months.

I know. Half of me don't quite believe it will be that bad. But am doing a list of essentials that will keep; then will order off Amazon pantry just in case.

Good luck with that as there’ll be no couriers to deliver it.

Nice evisceration of the WTO lot in here

I think this might be my favourite thing yet to occur. A Tory Brexiteer running to a foreign goverment begging them to block the will of the UK parliament

I like the 'as promised' as if he's a moody teen crying that its so unfair

Edit: Also an interesting tweet attached to that conversation including an article about this MP working for a group who stand to make a killing on the speculation of gold should we end up with no deal

The Honourable member for Saudi Arabia.

Time for me to buy a dinghy so I can smuggle goods across the channel at crazy prices. What do you guys need? Belgian beer, chocolate and clean underwear?

But if we are still a member whilst we figure out we are doing and thus paying our dues I think they would probably keep their place... Afterall... No taxation without representation.... Oh how the tables have turned

The other complication is that if the UK leave the number of overall seats reduce but part of the UK's seats are to be redistributed amongst the other member states, for example France gain an extra 5 seats/MEPs. There is very little time left.

Indeed... I could see the EU offering something like UK skips the EU elections but if we choose to stay we participate in the next one... In the meantime I dunno I think we only have around 70 mep's perhaps split that on a pr basis between the Westminster vote and let UK MP's go to vote?
I mean imagine we have EU elections in the current climate... I wouldn't be surprised if Tommy Robinson got elected

Companies press Brexit panic button in further blow to Theresa May
P&O opts for Cypriot flag, Sony confirms HQ move and Pets at Home stockpiles cat food

The scale of no-deal panic gripping major companies has been thrown into sharp focus by a series of damage-limitation announcements, as corporate Britain signalled it is running out of patience with Westminster gridlock.

Sir James Dyson, the Brexit-backing billionaire, dealt a further blow to the government by revealing he is shifting his company headquarters to Singapore in a move that drew sharp criticism.

Dyson’s decision to move his HQ out of the UK came on a day in which a series of high-profile names revealed measures to mitigate the impact of a disorderly departure from the EU:

• P&O announced that its entire fleet of cross-Channel ferries, will be re-registered under the Cypriot flag, as the 182-year-old British maritime operator activated its Brexit plans.

Sony confirmed it is moving its European headquarters from London to Amsterdam.

• The chief executive of luxury carmaker Bentley said the company was stockpiling parts and described Brexit as a “killer” threatening his firm’s profitability.

• Retailers Dixons Carphone and Pets at Home announced plans to shore up supplies in the event of chaos at British ports.

So much winning.

Farage is committed to participate in the next mep elections.. I guess that is the UK's strongest threat to a deal yet

I shop at Sainsbury's. The shelves are often empty because the staff can't be bothered to fill them.

Cat food? They'll be the first things on the menu post Brexit.

How do I get off this train? Look at this thread.

"There is no doubt that leaving with a deal and minimising disruption both to the UK and our EU trading partners is in our best interest," the international development secretary said.

Basically saying its fine to ruin the country and people's livelihoods than find alternative options. Electorates are human beings and are allowed to make mistakes. The right and decent thing to do is to rectify these mistakes in the best way possible.

What's more mind-numbing is this from a development secretary.

Bertie Armstrong, the chief executive of the industry’s largest body, the Scottish Fisherman’s Federation, cautions some may be suffering “Millennium bug-itis” over Brexit. “Most countries are not in the EU and doing perfectly well.”

This stuff pisses me off. They genuinely don't understand that the millenium bug wasn't a false scare, it was a genuine threat that only passed by without chaos because a huge number of very skilled people spent vast amounts of time and money making sure critical systems were protected. So because the storm passed without disaster, now its just treated as a joke.

Most countries have deals too.

His interview this morning was just a preplanned attack peice on parliament and none of it ringed any truth.

He said it'd be a huge constitutional change for parliament to raise legislation and scrutinise it but they already can do exactly that, all legislation does not come form the government.

All designed to paint any action by parliament actually doing it's job as some great revolt. It's dangerous and they've clearly not learned their lesson on what might happen stoking these flames

Even more stupid is the old Brexit favourite, “Most countries are not in the EU and doing perfectly well.”

What may have escaped their notice, we know it escaped Raab's notice, that most countries are not an island situated just off the coast of mainland Europe.
Maybe they are planning to up sticks and move off the coast of the USA or to the Far East.
