That's another 10 seats you can add to the conservative majority right there. I don't know what the EU bigwigs thought they were going to achieve by leaking derogatory comments during the election but you have to wonder about their level of competence given the outcome.

Yeah, I mean it's not as if you ever hear British politicians make derogatory comments about the EU and its member states. Those pesky Europeans, it's about time we go to war with them and bomb Brussels. We'll show them who's top dog!

Juncker is not only quite obnoxious but a bit of a creep to boot. I didn't expect it go well. May will have little time for someone with as rude a manner as old Juncks.

Rude manners? Are you fecking kidding me? Since before he was even elected, the British press and various right wing politicians have insulted and denegrated the guy continuously and publicly, calling him every name under the sun. But no, he's supposed to be the one without manners, right... Do you leave people actually understand that Europe isn't on the other side of the galaxy, its bloody next door and all these people who our resident idiots in the media and politics have spent years insulting heard every fecking word of it. Don't start crying when the long overdue payback begins.

You know what, I'm now actually getting embarrassed having to admit I've got the British nationality. Not in my name thank you.

She won't be a pushover either. The UK has as much of a right to dictate proceedings as the EU. They are not in charge of us you know. Negotiations should be carried out in a way that suits both sides.
He is a horrible horrible cnut and how the feck he dares to have an opinion on anyhthing is beyond me. The tax evading tosser.

Dearie me, such a reaction because we don't rate Juncker. You're right there though, we did try to stop his appointment and not without good reason. He's the worst advert for the EU they good possibly have appointed.

We're not crying either. Time everyone realised that. We've been able to see the nasty side of them for a long while so we're not surprised at their behaviour.

I've been like that for a year now. When I have to tell people I'm English, I feel like I should start apologizing. feck the Tories and UKIP and the rest of the cnuts who got us into this mess for making me lose my patriotism. I used to tell people from all over the world about how awesome Britain was and how nice the people are once you get past the initial reserve. I feel like a total cnut for that now. I haven't been back for 6 months, and if my parents weren't getting on in age, I'd happily make it another 6 years.

Theresa May will say anything to be popular and achieve power. She's playing with the future of UK by appearing to look strong. In reality, our government are making this up as they go along. A lady who was a remainer a while back.

I don't give a damn about defending Jean-Claude Juncker, what I do give a damn about is the rude, hypocritical, arrogant and downright ignorant and stupid attitudes of Brits towards people who have done them no harm and about whom they know very little. Its the same little Englander bullshit that thinks its ok to visit foreign countries and act like wankers while sneering at the locals.

Such a reaction because you are blaming a EU politician for making so called derogatory about the UK government despite the fact British politicians make derogatory comments about the EU & Europe all the bleeding time? Pot calling the kettle black me thinks.

Nah, you got that wrong, don't give two hoots what he says about us. Does show him for what he is though.

Doesn"t remotely ydescribe any Brits that I know.

Why do people think the EU care whether May has 100 or 1000 seats, it makes no difference at all

Well obviously the more support from the country the Tory government has, the less of an influence those in Parliament and the media have in opposing a hard brexit.

Mrs May needs to be nice to Mrs Merkel to get out of this mess. She holds the power in reality, not Juncker. Anything Mrs May says now is just electioneering. Hopefully, she'll get back to being a politician and be nice to our neighbours. She won't have to prove to be Mrs Thatcher to the electorate after the election.

From a UK point of view, yes, but what difference does it make to the EU. Does May worry how many seats 'Party X' have in Romania or Sweden or Portugal , no

The mess is just as much for the EU as it is for us.

She holds the power in reality, not Juncker.

This is what I find quite interesting. Power to do what exactly? Kneecap us for wanting to leave the EU?

We've done nothing but be nice to our neighbours.

Why is it as much a mess for the EU, most people in the EU won't even notice.

You're so nice to your neighbours you don't want them in your country

The EU is counting on support from within the UK. The referendum result was narrowly in favour of brexit. The majority of MPs and those in the media are opposed to a hard brexit, when in reality the EU is obviously going to attempt to enforce a deal on their terms. We can see this with the demands they're already insisting on. They've also been very unwise about their comments about the proposed integration of Northern Ireland into Eire. Division is their strategy obviously.

The UK is is so entangled within EU law, it is a huge headache. They also rely on our funding, which is why they've presented us with a £50B ransom note.

Nothing wrong with controlled immigration. We don't want those who refuse to contribute anything.

Of course the EU will try get the best deal for the EU and to protect it's member states, one of them being Ireland.
The Uk can't come out on top of these negotiations , they want to leave, fine but don't expect any favours

Examples please?

I don't think the forum has enough space for the literally thousands of examples of British politicians insulting our European partners, telling barefaced lies about the EU and its members and generally being complete cnuts whenever possible.

So let me just leave these here..

The Uk are incorporating all EU law so they can choose which ones they want to keep but what has that got to do with the EU being in a mess, it's not going to affect EU citizens very much, they don't really care if the Uk are in or out. The EU doesn't rely on UK funding, yes the bit they pay helps but when it's gone it's gone and it carries on.
It is not a ransom note it is a bill for liabilities which will be discussed with reasonable negotiations but not if May starts saying we're not paying a penny

Who is refusing to contribute?

Personally I do not believe there can be a deal, which is why the EU and European member state leaders are making a stand against Britain getting a deal better than the one we currently have within the EU.
The UK will not get any willing favours from the EU, that's for sure, and so it is how the UK responds.

The EU is a union of member states. You can imagine that the Netherlands, who do a roaring trade with the UK, will have a difference stance towards Brexit than for example Spain. In other words, it's a fallacy to claim that the EU is attempting to reach a deal on their terms even if the EU have an obligation to protect the interests of the member states that make up the EU. You can also imagine that the EU do not what to set a precedent that may endanger its future. The EU need to find the right balance in protecting the interests of the EU member states, yet reaching a deal which will also help keeping a healthy & friendly relationship with post Brexit UK. From the EU's perspective Brexit is very much a case of damage limitation. There are only going to be losers from this bad situation.

Oh please

Is that the best you can think of?

You really couldn't make this up. British taking offence to European politicians making 'derogatory' remarks about the UK...

Don't throw stones in glass houses!!!!
