According to the EU's own forecast, the UK's population will increase to over 80 million by 2080 to become, comfortably, the largest country by population.

I won't be around then, of course, but it's frightening to wonder everyone is going to live.

Probably on the many masses of green land still yet to be built on.

Assuming one day we have a political party that doesn't expect every git to live in London.

Oh, I don't know....

Maybe all the Londoners who voted to stay in the EU won't mind having Wimpey housing estates on Hyde Park, Regent's Park, Richmond Common, etc....

They were saying the same in the 1960s when the Commonwealth immigrants were coming in. "We're too overcrowded" - Population is 10million more now than then.

The UK is ranked 51st in the world as the most densely populated country/territory

It's not so much population density that is the worry - all the 20 million more would quite probably fit into rural Scotland and rural Wales and you wouldn't even notice.

But there aren't the jobs there, so the population growth will most likely be in the already overcrowded cities. Not good !

Did you look at the video of David Davis at the top of this page, chief Brexit negotiator

Yepp....

I agree with him - there'll always be a need for migrants into the UK and other EU countries, but outside the EU the UK can choose how many and with the right skills to match critical needs.

Right now, there is nothing that any EU country can do to control the number and type of migrants who can enter with EU citizenship or EU authorised residency, and that has to be a worry for any Government which needs to plan and finance its infrastructure development further out than, say, five years.

Didn't know Donald has an account on here.

This point has been discussed many times on here. The UK have much more control than they let on to the public. Additionally why don't they control the non-EU immigrants, they have complete and total control of that . It would be impossible to regulate the type of immigrants, one nurse leaves, ok we let one nurse in.

In reality the Uk have no idea, because they don't keep records. They probably have no idea where you are or I am. What happens if 100,000 expats decide to return to the UK, will they be refused entry, waiting for other people to leave.

Try living somewhere with a high population density rather than just the population of dense people we have in the UK. FFS, Singapore has over 6 Million living on an island the size of the Isle of Wight and is perfectly comfortable, liveable and more prosperous than the UK.

The two most densely populated macro-countries in Europe are the Netherlands and Belgium with 394 and 344 people per square kilometer, respectively. However if England were an independent country it would be the most densely populated macro-nation in Europe with a whopping 407 people per square kilometre.

Which is a claustrophobia inducing 50m between every adjacent person within that 1km. No wonder the Brexiteers break out in a cold sweat when there are potentially foreign types within shouting distance. Not that I'd ever say that Brexiteers would be afraid of shouting at foreigners, many of them do it for a hobby.

I read sadiq khan post. It was intelligently written but somehow flawed. He failed to acknowledge that in two years time the uk will become an eu competitor. From an eu perspective there will be no difference between london, new york or singapore.

If hitting london would mean snatching even 10% of london's business then it would worth it. The eu can care less if another 40% goes to new York. What happens to that business is the least of its concern

Such a thing is not a punishment but how business and competition work.

All racists are Brexiteers....All Brexiteers aren't racist, please....

Lol

Give it a rest

On some level though isn't it a tad hypocritical to go and live in another country and then start lecturing the country you left about how it should organise its affairs? It definitely takes a special personality type to be unaware of how immeasurably badly that would sit. Opinion is opinion but when you vote with your feet your views are not important to those you chose to leave. Isn't that the crux of almost all your posts in every thread you can bend to be in any way about brexit on this forum?

Just a thought.

Even if Paul never intends to come back to the UK why would he not wish it well and hope it would not deliberately damage itself? How can he be sure he'll never return, circumstances change, I've spent almost a third of my life as a long term resident in other countries and almost half of it elsewhere if you were to add up the business trips as well yet I've never thought I should not have an opinion or say on how the UK was run given that I might some day end up back there, that many of my family and friends are still there and that what the UK does is somehow reflected on me even if I'm not there or disagree with it's actions. As a Brit I'm at greater danger in the Middle East thanks to Blair's contrived wars regardless of my bitter objection to them and despite being vocally outspoken against Brexit I get the jibes from my mainland European colleagues and contacts on an almost daily basis.

It's always one way with the Brexiteers as well, Paul lives abroad so should can his Remoaning opinion but where's your criticism of Full Bodied Red or Stan for daring to comment on Brexit from their safe European homes? Just a thought on how you apply your accusations of hypocrisy.

I have heard of one size fits all but never one density fits all.

If people living in the UK don't want it what right have you or anyone outside the Uk to insist they comply with your view that it is acceptable? I didn't want the referendum and I was in the minority of votes cast ( most often I am )but I think if you take part in the vote you are bound by it. Otherwise, it is anarchy.

I don't know for certain but it is pretty clear he doesn't so if I have to have a stab at the reasons I would go with,

His interests and those of people living in the Uk might now differ.

He doesn't have to live with the consequences if it all goes tits up which it very well might do.

He and others have made it plain they wish ill on the Uk with regards to the deal being struck because they see this as a zero sum game and they are in the EU corner. So be it but I'm not and I want to look out for my kids who live in the UK so despite voting remain, feck him and the horse he rode in on and you if need be.

I'm too busy arguing with people who disagree with me without picking a fight with people who agree with me about their reasons for doing so.

I've got a Britvic orange or a J2O take your pick or feck off with your fancy dan southern nonsense. :)

I don't mind being criticised for my views / opinions re BREXIT.

But I don't like being called xenophobic, racist, ignorant, etc, because my support for BREXIT is based on my absolute dislike for the EU, not my dislike of non-British people. I mean, I wouldn't have chosen to live in France the past 30-odd years if I did.

There's a large difference between thinking something is going to be completely fecked, and wanting it to be completely fecked.

My french erasmas work placement colleague got racially abused last night.

Kicked out of his spareroom.co.uk house for being Muslim.

Was it the straight bananas?

Welcome to Brexit Britain.
It's insane. She set her 10 dogs on him to make him leave after she found his quran. He keeps crying at random intervals today...

Trying to convince him to file a civil lawsuit, but I don't really know if it's good advice

10 dogs? Did he book a room in a dog shelter?

Huh?

There is plenty of land in U.K. for more people to live, both for cities to expand and new towns. Population density even in London is still relatively very low

I know it's wrong, and only a complete shithead would find this funny, but well, sorry. I mean really there is absolutely nothing funny about it, 10 dogs and the discrimination and everything. Nothing at all. And writing woof woof on his desk when he goes to the loo would be a despicable act, don't even think about it.

Sounds like good advice to me, I'd also give your local paper a ring.
