If you consider all the other positions where we need new players asap, it's for real a worst case scenario that our GK situation is like it is. Not convinced with Bayindir either.

Maybe we should try to sign a solid, quite cheap keeper like Butland again. But I doubt it.
 
Quite impossible to build a solid defence with a clown keeper. Needs to be sold in the summer. That'll be another huge loss on the books.
 
DDG and Hendo had to go but we replaced them with this guy. But again least of our problem now.

Can't even manage a shot on target at home and we are blaming the GK. We have bigger issues fellow fans.

Highlights just how poor the overall transfer strategy has been at times. We knew the goal was to move De Gea on, and ended up signing 2 absolutely poor keepers. None of this is down to Onana and Bayendir cracking under the pressure of playing for Man United. Their mistake ridden past performances were well document and we still went for both of them.
 
Like I’ve said before, he cannot be trusted and has to be binned. He always has a mistake in him.

Bad signing.

DDG was poor and we supposedly bought Onana because he offered a more rounded modern package as a GK - but we have not benefitted from that supposed side of his game and his goalkeeping/shot stopping is worse than DDG’s. Anecdotally, DDG seems to be doing well at Fiorentina.

I’d argue we downgraded - even if DDG was someone we needed to move on
 
I don’t think there’s any one part of the game he’s been consistently good at for us. He’s stealing a living as a “top” keeper.

This is untenable. No space for debate or thinking or any other considerations. He makes the most mistakes of any goalkeeper I have ever seen. Cost us the entire CL in his first season. Also, his supposed wonder saves are just normal saves every high level GK is expected to make. I bet you any random GK from the Championship leads to less goals conceded than this donkey. He has no place here, just pure cancer and cancer like this has to be pushed out of the club even as total write-off if you really want to make a cultural restart which we direly need.

Absolute and totally useless clown. Cannot ever ever start for a club in the Premier League let alone Man Utd.

Explains in perfection our entire situation as a club.
 
He’ll probably survive whilst there are other “more pressing” issues in the team, but no football team has ever been remotely decent with a keeper who chucks it into the net with the regularity he does.

I’d give Bayandir a run til the end of the season; I’m pretty sure he’s shite too but at least we’ll get a proper sense of whether he can be a back up keeper for us. It’s clear Onana has no role or future at this club.
 
I was shocked we paid so much for him, the reality is he’s performing as expected. He’s been better this season overall but he’s still a very ordinary keeper.

He's a big problem, he makes more mistakes than pretty much every keeper in the league. He sends panic into the rest of the team and gifts points consistently to the opposition.
 
There DDG posts are pointless. DDG was 100% an issue and needed to be replaced. That we managed to screw up the replacement by signing someone arguably worse than him without any real positives, does not mean that trying to get him to stay on would have been the right move.
 
He's a keeper I tolerated, but haven't rated at all since he's come in. We need a big big upgrade if we've any chance next season.
 
Cost us. Simple as that. He needs to go for the second. That’s on him. The third is comedy.

He was winning me over earlier in the season, but he needs replacing. Terrible goalie!

He isn't the reason why we aren't creating chances. He isn't the reason why we aren't scoring goals. Even if we have Ederson at goal, nothing is going to change . Yes, he needs to be replaced but that's least of our worries now.

He's the reason we ship daft goals though

Him being fecking crap for the second and third goals cost us today. At 1-1 or 2-1 there's always a chance, 3-1 was a killer.

Agree with all of this.

He'll probably get another season just because the entire club is on fire but he's shite and we can all see that.
 
I need to see the first goal again but even that one I was thinking why did he come out so late. Imo, he had an opportunity to potentially close down Mitoma before he passed it.

It's always one or the other with his sweeping, punching or aerial claims. He either does it or doesn't.

The least? Hardly. He’s up there. Lost us the match today, for one. He’s a major issue! Not the only issue, but a massive one. Top clubs have great goalies. We don’t. Too error prone.
 
After 1,5 seasons it's kinda clear where you stand with him. He'll have some high moments and big saves, but also blunders that will always happen, he can't get it out of his system. Add to that him not coming out for some balls like today for their 2nd goal and whole package isn't great. Spurs got Vicario and seem to be happy with him. Don't think he cost much so that's kind of GK deal we should be looking for in summer.

That's my problem. We fans somehow just want to win games or just score an odd goal somehow and make it to the final whistle. I don't want us to be doing it. It's not a sustainable model.

We have to start getting better in final third. Create some chances , get some shots at home.

Again, this guy has been terrible since he joined but we have some huge issues now.
 
It feels to me that his main problems are the nerves. He's not a bad keeper, he has the skills. Sure he's nowhere near the best ever, but he's got what it takes to be a keeper in European top leagues. He had a quite solid patch where he demonstrated that. Except that every time he makes a mistake, it shakes him up so much that the next mistake is just on the horizon and sure to arrive. Which then reinforces the problem, and he just keeps spiralling.

If you're house has no front door and there's a leaking pipe, you can try and fix both issues.

I wouldn't say the least of our worries.

A goalkeeper making big mistakes is always a big worry.
 
Literally losing games after conceding straight from corner kicks (both keepers) and from goals like today that any half decent backup keeper in the league could have taken 1 step out and collected.

But for some - it's not a big problem :lol:
 
He's got to go at this stage, every time you think he might be turning a corner he goes and does something like today.
 
What a wastful way to get rid of DDG for barely an upgrade and I mean BARELY. That's 2 Dutch managers that's hurt us badly in replacements. Don't know why did the most damage. LVG or ETH.

That’s the really baffling thing. Keepers still remain relatively reasonably priced.

Not just the fact that Onana is very obviously shit, with mistakes that have been clear in his game since his Ajax days, but the geniuses in charge at United decided that this was worth making him the 3rd most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

Yeah you're right. I only watched Onana few times. He made some great saves vs Milan in CL semi-final and also was good against City in the final. But ten Hag and others scouting knew much better and still decided to go with him. Inter got Sommer afterwards and do believe are happy enough.

As I wrote previously, hope we can sell him for decent fee and get someone else in for reasonable money. That's our best hope probably.
 
Just seen a stat,errors leading to goals and he has made 10 in 2 seasons while De Gea made 17 in 10 seasons.
 
Think it’s time to drop him, never felt confident with him between the sticks. I know Bayindir isn’t the saviour too but surely could maybe perform better whilst we search for a new keeper
