As we can see in hindsight now, the real damage started from sacking Ole. The strategy was abruptly abandoned by the clowns appointed, Murtough and ETH. The squad was disassembled and replaced by poor signings on huge transfer fees.
The root is of course, the Glazers.
Our defence was absolutely attrocious on all 3 goals today, no keeper will succeed with that kind of horrific defending in front of him.

I've defended him because I didn't think he was as bad as people were making out a lot of the time. But that was pretty much it for me, just ridiculous, there's no danger to be had and he created a problem out of nowhere.

At this point is safe to say those errors are part of his game. It's not an off game or an accident, that's just the player he is. He'll gift some goals in the most ridiculous way every few games.
We need a solid keeper, I rather have one that stops only the expected shots instead of one that makes some spectacular saves but gives away stupid goals.
Problem is we're so deep in trouble and with many areas needing addressing that I don't think we can buy a new keeper soon. It's really a tragedy that we have so many needs at the same time. It's going to take a lot of time and money to fix this squad.

Cut him loose, take the loss of money and move on.
Another Eth master class. We could have picked him up for free in Eths first season. Instead, we paid a hefty premium a season later for what should have been an affordable De gea alt.

Butland isn't solid. He's a clown. Constantly chucking goals in for Rangers
I would class him as an even worse signing than Mason Mount and Antony. He literally single handedly costs us games. No idea what was going through ETH’s bald head.
He's absolutely done. Mistakes like that and the one a few months back when it was straight at him and he dove out the way of it are just the signs of a shite player. 1 good game in 10 doesnt make you a good keeper for anyone, let alone us.

Most of his out of the world save are straight shot. His shot stopping skills is below average. And his “on the ball” skill is also not that great. At least De Gea was world class shot stopper. This guy is just jack of all trades kind of GK. Just an average GK
That was mental, he could have easily made it to that ball to punch it or influence its flight path.
Surely Altay will be better if he plays as much as Onana has?

Think the majority of the anger comes that it was the third goal , it’s a mistake but it’s more significant because it extinguished any hopes of getting back in to the game. That said though it’s a proper howler.

No reason to survive the cull when goalkeepers are cheap to replace. Onwards and upwards.
Do we actually know that though? He's never been given a chance especially under the cnut last year.
He's not a bad keeper, he's just too wildly inconsistent for a serious team. These errors come in big games too like the CL and FA Cup final. If you ignore red flags they will come when you least need them. Don't know if true but I read even Karius was having a great season before the CL final. It's also the same thing De Gea got cooked for and he was rightly binned. If anything the criticism is just people being unbiased.
It’s a unique position. You can’t have many mistakes in you. It’s better to always nail the basics and not be spectacular than to have spectacular games and drop clangers sometimes.
I’m not in the “he’s the worst keeper ever” camp, but he makes me nervous, and I think it’s fair to wonder if the players in front of him feel the same.
The reality is that he is an average Premier League keeper with a mistake in him. We should be scouting for his successor. But there more pressing concerns in the squad - starting with wing-backs.
Just replace him, he's shit.
I have defended him as he wasn't making these mistakes at Inter, but this is the final nail. I don't blame solely him for today's defeat, but his passiveness on the second goal cross, and the mistake for the third goal. Dear me. Lets see what Bayandir is made of.
If only, he isn't anywhere close to the level of the average PL keeper right now. He's easily one of the worst starting keepers in the league.
He should be dropped for the next match. He is below average. A very bad signing and he is not improving at all
This stat is not true though, or at least not calculated with the same premises. De Gea made 17 errors leading to goals in the PL during the 12 seasons he was at the club. Onana has made four in the PL during the time he's been here (or at least that's the stat on the official site at this point, not sure if todays are included or not). Might be 10 if you include every other competition (I'd suspect it was at least 2 or 3 three in last years CL for example), but it's not really a fair comparision. De Gea as a comparision made 3 errors leading to goals in his first two seasons in the PL.

Brighton had 3 shots in target 3 goals the great Onana . How can a goalkeeper be so overweight and so non athletic he’s 15 stones or 95kg average weight of goalkeepers is 83kg .
