Ole > ETH.

Ole saw it years back and brought him in.
Ole didn't bring him it was Club led recruitment and he wasn't any better in his treatment of Amad either .

Amad could have hit his stride way sooner had he been shown bit more trust by his earlier managers and also not been unlucky with injuries .

He probably has the best first touch and the most press resistance player in the squad. The way he gets free from the press and progress the ball is such a joy to watch

Finally bearing the fruit of our patience. Now starting to see why he was signed as an unknown quantity. Fair play we maybe got one right! Oh yeah and as for ETH dropping him for Antony, probably another example why he’s now unemployed.

The football talent was always there, the intensity off the ball wasn't always there. Today two goals were scored by him dispossessing the defenders. That was what was being asked of him by the coaches and he has taken that on board. He's taken his chances now to be in the first team.

Love seeing him wiggled out of tight situation. Possibly the best close control dribbler in the squad

Ole > ETH.

Ole saw it years back and brought him in.
Solskjaer was just as bad as ETH. It was a signing that came from Lawlor whilst Solskjaer wanted Sancho, so he played the likes of Dan James over him instead until he got what he wanted.

The play at the end where he was in the box, was that a pen? Couldn’t tell from my seat but we obviously all went mental anyway.

Does anyone please have a clip/video of this?! Would really appreciate it.
They didn't show a replay if it, and I was adamant it was a penalty. That aside, was an outrageous piece of skill.

On Amad, really think (In shaa Allah) he still has another level or two to go up.
I want him as one of the two 10's but the way he's playing at wingback, no need to move him.

What use is there in I-told-you-so’s, and especially in a place where broken clocks are right all the time?

I think Darren Fletcher’s words about Amad needing to develop his team game understanding and decision making was probably based on more data than anyone of us has access to and overview of. We know from experience that players develop often in leaps, and have periods of varying consistency.

For me it is a sign of Amad’s ‘leap’ that on a day where he actually had a lot of bad touches, imprecise passes, a horrible wasted chance and several so-so decisions (unlike in the last few games), he still does the ABC stuff mostly right, he still shows good effort, and he is involved in many of our goals, and several more of our chances. Those ar every good signs, and I’m guessing he is about to become one of Amorim’s least complicated picks.
Would you like some more straws to clutch at? ETH was terrible to Amad and shitty decision making like that is what eventually got him sacked.

Best thing that happened for Amad was that he was sent on loan to Mowbray.

Mowbray was a fan from day 1 and really helped in his development to suit the English game.

If he was given games from day 1 with us, we would have probably ruined his development.

I don't think they even showed a close up replay or another angle, so kind of impossible to tell

Anyway, what a game from him. He's taken to that RWB position like a duck to water, seems to be enjoying it too as he's still very involved in attacking play. Definitely interested in seeing him as an AM, but I think he might be doing too well where he is to be moved at the moment

Did really well today. The only thing that annoyed me was when he kicked the ball away instead of going for a quick throw-in for Rashford(?) that was on a run with few defenders around, but we were 4-0 up and I'm sure the coaches will show him that clip several times. He's normally very hungry to look for chances, so I'm sure he won't make that mistake again when it might matter more.

.
Because it’s fecking cathartic after much of the shite I read for almost 2 years here.

And as much as people want to reason away points for why he was constantly underutilized and comically looked over even after playing well, there was simply no excuse. Not when our RW has lacked any sort of talent or ability since fecking Valencia and Nani almost 15 years ago.

Yeah, on 2nd viewing, does look like he took a fall/dive.

He was definitely pulled. Always hard to know/judge in these type of situation how much he was trying to sell it. Seen them being given without second thinking and seen the opposite like today as well.

Amad had just turned 19 and had only made 4 senior appearances for Atalanta when he signed for us. Did you expect Ole to throw him in the deep end for PL games during the lockdown season?

How can a manager with top top experience like ten Hag couldn't see Amad potential having managing him for years?

When it took only a few games for the new guy to unleash it.

Ten Hag bought Antony instead of Kudus. I don't think he is a good judge of talent.

Amad has been brilliant, up there with Onana and Mazraoui as player of the season. Even if on some days the end result can be lacking, his movement, work rate and general play is still a boon to the team.

Of course not but I distinctly remember him toying around with u21 teams yet not ever getting a sniff of minutes ( in a time where we were begging for another winger), and then got played as a striker when he did play:lol:

Was just a bit strange how we handled the entire thing considering how highly rated of a prospect he was and what we paid. Then we shipped him off to the worst possible place to develop further

I still don't get how we had a talent like this and still decide to spend 150 millions on Sancho and Antony. I know Amad was not ready back in 2021 or even 2022, but both of the aforementioned players were also young. Honestly, if we felt that he needed a year or two before he was ready, we should have bought an established player.

Like he did with Dan James?
Dan James was 5 years older than Amad and had over 50 first team appearances to his name. The 20/21 season was too early to throw Amad into the deep end. Giving him a few cameos in the Europa League was the correct way to bed in a 19 year old with very few senior appearances to his name.

Honestly I think loaning him was the right approach. As you mentioned he was destroying U21 teams but was also not very physically developed. The Rangers loan didn't really work out but he still had some good games. Sunderland he was fantastic.

The bigger issue was Ten Hag playing Antony and Forson over him last season. It should have been his breakthrough year but he was held back a lot.

Yeah but he wasn't ready and was constantly picking up injuries remember.

When ETH picked Forson over him, that was the time to question things.

Prior to that he was either injured, not ready or on loan.

Proper player now though. A real football brain.

Yeah Ole never bothered with him. Was pretty clear

He was brought to the club in January 2021. He was seen as a youth prospect that needed time to adjust to English football.

Then at the start of the 21/22 season he was injured until October, Ole got sacked in November.

Not a ton of opportunities for him to play, especially when a manager is under pressure to deliver due to underperforming results, so they tend to stick to players they know and trust.

Imagine spending 80 million on a player when you had this guy. The more I think of what happened under ETH the more angry I get. He should have been launched out of the club in the summer on a rocket.

Hindsight and all that but we actually got two 80 million players in his position. - Sancho and Antony. What a waste!
