Had some weirdly off touches and was really poor defensively for the first 25 minutes where he missed a lot of tackles, but otherwise a flawless performance. Wish he'd scored from that early Zirkzee pass. No idea why the penalty shout at the end wasn't reviewed, his dribbling was magic.

The Antony transfer really was bad for Ten Hag. Didn't deliver for him, and Ten Hag also probably felt close to him and wanted to make the transfer work - which is the only reason I can think of that would explain how he was favoured over Amad.

But it wasn't like he was playing antony ahead of Amad...he was playing Garnacho and Rashford on the right for a while...

Imagine spending 80 million on a player when you had this guy. The more I think of what happened under ETH the more angry I get. He should have been launched out of the club in the summer on a rocket.
The thing is he was touted as a bright talent at Atalanta and we paid quite a high fee for a teenager that only made a few first team appearances. He was clearly one of those young players that you put into the first team squad and slowly ease into the team. But ETH decided to go and splash out on Antony and send Amad on loans, and the rest is history.

Superb again. After his loan spell at Sunderland, I said he needed to add more dynamism, aggression and self belief in order to elevate his game. He has all the technical ability to be a top player. Football intelligence on and off the ball, dribbling, passing, shooting. As soon as he has all these qualities consolidated, Amad will improve even more.

'Amad hasn't done enough with his performances', 'He has been used as much as possible compared to other players, "Look a quote by Fletcher saying he wasn't up to speed", "He's not that great anyways", "His loan at Sunderland was okay" etc etc ad nauseam.
Don't forget my personal favourite, 'He couldn't make it at Rangers so won't make it here'.

Need to secure his new contract ASAP.

I’ve never felt so vindicated for going to war against some around here.

Guy was so obviously better and more talented than many of our options in recent years yet got a pitiful amount of chances. Sackable offense when you realize Antony was preferred
It was weird that Ten Hag decided to sideline him for several games consecutively after he made him a regular in the early games this season, if I remember, from the community shield game till end of September he played most games apart from Liverpool and Barnsley, and suddenly from October until he was fired he just totally sidelined him for no reason at all.

Now with RvN and Amorim, he has played alot and showed his quality, today he just proved why he should be a permanent fixture, as an RWB or and AM maybe.

Are everybody just ignoring the fact that he was injured for almost half of last season. Thats the main reason why he was out of the team so much.

What use is there in I-told-you-so’s, and especially in a place where broken clocks are right all the time?

I think Darren Fletcher’s words about Amad needing to develop his team game understanding and decision making was probably based on more data than anyone of us has access to and overview of. We know from experience that players develop often in leaps, and have periods of varying consistency.

For me it is a sign of Amad’s ‘leap’ that on a day where he actually had a lot of bad touches, imprecise passes, a horrible wasted chance and several so-so decisions (unlike in the last few games), he still does the ABC stuff mostly right, he still shows good effort, and he is involved in many of our goals, and several more of our chances. Those ar every good signs, and I’m guessing he is about to become one of Amorim’s least complicated picks.

Unbelievable. Go back to some of the quotes earlier on, in the thread. Set posters tryna temper Amad's potential and game time. The fact EtH said Antony trains better is along there too. Absolute diamond of a player! Well done to his early backers on this thread l think we have all been vindicated now. Long may this continue!

We should just be happy we changed managers before ten Hag ran him out of the club. In Erik's last game he looked done when he was coming on as a last resort sub.
100%. I'm so fecking happy he outlasted that fraud.

No its not the main reason.

ETH was asked and he said other player were better in training.

Does anyone please have a clip/video of this?! Would really appreciate it.
They didn't show a replay if it, and I was adamant it was a penalty. That aside, was an outrageous piece of skill.

On Amad, really think (In shaa Allah) he still has another level or two to go up.
I want him as one of the two 10's but the way he's playing at wingback, no need to move him.

He’s looking pretty damn good right now. You can see minute by minute he’s growing in confidence, the same for many players. By the end of the game he was looking electric, just far too good for the Everton players.

It’s pretty criminal how underused he has been here really. Whilst others were stinking the place out every week.

Early i know but im confident he’s a future United long term starter.
Has the mentality, work rate, ability. Just needs the consistency and decision making.

Still needs work on his shooting but otherwise totally agree. He's a gem.

So he wasn't injured for the first half of last season? Sure ETH could and probably should have given him more playing time after the turn of the year but the majority of his missed playing time last season was due to his injury in August.

Ten Hag excuse of Antony being better in training to play ahead of Amad is not looking good. You bet on talent and Amad is certainly a huge talent

Another thing to add, I think Amorim is right to play him in that wide role. He’s very good at progressing the ball and works very hard. I think he’d be less involved as one of the 10s, and I want to see him on the ball as often as possible. It’s been one of the minor complaints on the Caf so far under Amorim, but I think he’s got it right.

The way ETH used him (or the lack of using him to be more exact) since returning from that injury was very questionable.

He returned in late December and was on the bench from then on, but barely played until April (and even then it was short appearances off the bench). One of his first chances was the Liverpool match in the FA Cup where he came on, played well and scored the winner, and then it took another month before he got another single minute of gametime. It took until the final three league games of the season before he finally got some starts, and he was one of our best players in two of those matches. He then was easily our best player this preseason, started the season quite well (was our Player of the Month in August), but as soon as his from dropped off he was quickly dropped clearly down the pecking order and not really given enough gametime to fight for the spot again even though Rashford and Garnacho were having a lot of very bad games.

It was very much like how Mourinho used to treat Martial. Both times it felt like the manager didn't particularly rate the player and was looking for any excuse to drop them, so Martial/Amad had to be significantly better than their competitors in every single game. Meanwhile the players they were competing with could drop stinker after stinker and keep getting chances.

Incredible both on and off the ball, he’s steadily evolving into one of our standout performers. His work rate and impact are undeniable.

I was pleading with Amorim to sub him off around the 60-minute mark, knowing how physically demanding the wing-back role is, but the decision to keep him on speaks volumes about his importance to the team. Let’s hope he still has plenty left in the tank for the crucial clash against Arsenal midweek.
