Might actually give Dalot a run for his money for thickest footballer on the planet.

Bet they both get picked last in the annual work quiz.
 
He came on with 10 minutes to go, so there is very little to analyse.

Except he gave the ball away when a very simple pass was there to Dalot, and Wolves went up the other end and scored.
 
Simple pass was on, inside, and outside under no pressure. Tried to dribble through a man and lost the ball then sat on his arse as they broke. He’s so limited it’s scary, but the lack of game intelligence is criminal. Just do the simple things well. He’s clearly struggling and he’s not a lost cause, but he makes it difficult to make a case for him to be a long term solution for us.

I just watched it again. WHY would anyone hold onto the ball that long and check back twice when we’re desperately searching for an equaliser and there’s a player right there to pass to who is making the run!?

It just is absolutely insane that this happens so often, not just with Garnacho, but with everyone at times. Such a stupid goal to concede.

He never was the sharpest tool in the shed...
 
He has regressed massively as a footballer. Can’t remember the last time he successfully took on a defender. He spends most of the time wasting chances or passing the ball back. Any academy winger could offer what he offers at the moment. Woefulz

Basically this, he is still very young. There are other young players who are performing well of course, like Yamal in Barca but Barca is also a better team with a clear philosophy. I understand the need to vent the frustration but at this point it is clear that players are doing what they can and are hardly to blame, who wouldn't want to play for United? If I was an average player I would jump to the opportunity of playing for the club.

At this point its the management's fault, specially the C-levels executives. Ratcliffe still has time following the Glazer's distaster, but I think we have landed on the same philosophy of prioritizing marketing and money over football.

Even Ronaldo and Van Gaal have highlighted this during interviews, the club after Ferguson has retired from being a football club and has become a marketing machine whose sole purpose is to maximize shareholder's profits. There is no vision, no set playing style, no commitment to winning, everything is just shit.

If that's what your regression is based on, you should check out his successful attempts at dribbling even when he broke through.

He's never been someone who was consistently beating opposing players without losing the ball.

He's always been an extremely erratic dribbler and wasteful in possession.
 
We will need to have a little more patience. He is young and a tad full of himself. He needs to grow up.
Learning how to play in a new system will only teach him more and become a more rounded footballer in the long run.

His best form under ETH was arguably there
and we could have Amad back at RWB and Maz back at RCB.

(Just a thought).

No, he's diabolical on the right. His best performances for United have been on the left of a front 3, mostly coming on as a sub.

He's consistently been poor as a starter and consistently been poor on the right, and I don't know where he fits into this Amorim system. He hasn't been tried at LWB but I doubt he has the defensive capabilities, discipline or physical strength to play that position.
 
Pretty bad again today. At this point, I would try him as striker for the simple fact he's the only attacker that consistently finds himself in dangerous positions. At the very least, the opposition having to mark him well would open up space for amad and our other no10 in behind. He is always making good runs despite doing everything else badly at the moment.

Hojlund Is a great finisher but he's so easy to play against and mark as a defender. His movement as a striker is atrocious. When casemiro plays, he even tends to get in better goalscoring positions than hojlund. This is a big problem. We need someone thats hard to mark at the very least up top and at this point you couldn't really do worse there than Hojlund or Zirkzee.

People say service and this and that but in my opinion our biggest problem in attack is we never seem to have space approaching the box and this is largely caused by poor striker movement.

Narcho is good at running in open space only. So I cant see him being a #9 when he has burly CBs hacking on his heels. Besides he lacks the physicality to play that role.
 
Amorim needs to start Garnacho.

Whether he creates enough or not is insignificant imo because ultimately we loose all our abilities to score goals by having one dangerous wide player, a striker and a CAM in Bruno (hate this position for Bruno)

Is our best starting 11 & just because Garnacho doesnt play like Salah with his creativity its not like we can just drop him because we loose any kind of attacking threat.

We lost attacking threat as Rashford & Garnacho was rightly dropped but now Garnacho is back, he needs to start games.

Hopefully Bruno being banned from his red card helps Garnacho being eased in to the first 11 because i still think Amorim's hesitant to use him more for his personality/mistakes rather than out of pure tactics.
 
I really think he could work as a LWB. So much better starting out wide and running down the channels. He's struggling for form and confidence, it happens, he's still a kid in a team that's struggling as a whole.
We've seen what he can do, as long as he has the right attitude to keep improving, he should be kept around.

Yes. Bad decision making, as usual, unfortunately.
 
Our build up play is so slow Garnacho is never going to be able to do anything.
 
While he is young and in a team that’s transitioning into a different play style (which can excuse the lacklustre performances), part of me thinks we should sell him while his stock is at its highest. Not necessarily because he’s bad but because he’s incompatible to what Amorim wants to do.

There’s also the stories about him and his brother allegedly part of team leaks and engaging in social media undermining.
 
What worries me is that he's literally never dribbled past a man with skill, only speed and even that's quite infrequently.

So he plays wide, hardly beats his man, doesn't cross, can't pass progressively and generally makes a terrible decision.

What he's good at:

Running with ball (in straight lines), workrate, making runs, and poaching.

I actually think he plays like a striker.

Yes he is young, but all the best dribblers are at their best in their early 20's and I don't see him improving.

After being a big fan of his I'm very discouraged but I have hope.
 
Good backup level super sub. That's his most likely ceiling. Unfortunately we don't have a starter so he's being found out.

I think he's potentially a good player if used to his strengths, which are his movement, runs in behind and ability to see or create half a yard of space.

The first hurdle is convincing him of that though. He plays like he thinks he's the next Ronaldo and regardless of the ability gap he is a completely different type of player.

Also his finishing is an issue. Although players like Salah and Mane used to have erratic (to put it kindly) finishing. So I don't think that's a terminal issue.

Salah is actually mire like who he should be emulating. Runs inside and in behind the fullback, instead of fecking about trying to square players up and beat them 5 times over while they just stand in the way.

Maybe he doesn’t fit the role or maybe he is not willing to try, but if Amad can play there then it’s not too different to playing Garnacho.

But personally I just think he is a sensitive lad and the upheaval around the club and all the changes has knocked his confidence.

He’ll get it back! just give him time.

I agree with all of this.

Solution should be to play him as a forward. Rather than:
 Striker
Left 10 - Right 10​

Instead play:

Inside FWD ----- Inside FWD
10/False 9​

Bruno #10 with Zirkzee or Mount backup.
Garnacho LF, Rashford or replacement backup.
Diallo or Hojlund RF with Antony backup.
