If we can get a big offer in the summer I’d sell him. It would solve any PSR pressure for the year and he feels like more hassle than we need at the moment. Wing backs are so important that we need to do basically anything to get at least two new options for those positions.

Feel bad for him. Confidence for younger players is a huge deal and his seems to be shot. Hard to get that back with ten minute appearances and the message boards calling for your head after every match. Love to see him as the left wingback at some point.

I don’t understand the clamour to get rid of this lad. It wasn’t very long ago he was our brightest most talented attacking player. He scored goal of the season last year amongst others. Now a new manager comes in that doesn’t suit his system and he’s suddenly no good or shouldn’t be here? I’d like to see the manager at least try to coach this lad into his system as he’s a seriously talented footballer and we don’t have many of them in this squad. Benching him is a dubious decision by Amorim.

Agreed.

It's classic football fandom. This time last year it was build the team around Garnacho, Martinez and Hoijlund. Now they're all shit.

he's got youth and talent on his side to try and make the adjustment, but if he doesn't United are squandering the best young asset they have to bring in a big transfer fee and get the manager a player or two who would fit the system better.

Is it possible he's just not quite as good as we thought he was? Maybe there's an element of low confidence feeding into it but when he's on the pitch Garnacho's decision making in the final third has been really poor for a while, that was also the case before Amorim arrived.

I do think Amorim should be making more efforts to use him when our attacking options are so feeble, but only on the condition Garnacho is actually conducting himself correctly. It seems like both of the last two managers have had to iron out issues with him early in the respective spells, and Garnacho looks to have inherited the whingy prick gene from Ronaldo and Fernandes when things don't go his way.

Agreed. He's a victim of us being so poor. A good team would have been able to gradually phase him into squad, whereas we've had to rely on him from day 1 because our options are so limited.

No player has impeccable decision making at 20 years old. Selling him without even giving him a proper chance to develop under Amorim would be a mistake.

I said it sometime in the muppet transfer thread that I just can't see a role for him at the club in Ruben's set up.

If we receive a suitable offer I think we'll take it.

I think he’d look very good on either flank in the ‘wingback’ role. Obviously he wouldnt be playing the conventional role, but he has hussle, acceleration and is a whippet into space. His highlights also indicate its roughly the area he thrives in.

which leads me to think its a stand off, with Amorim wanting to train him in more team centric skills and tactics. Whereas Garnacho might just want to not move away from a traditional front 3 role.

Garnacho's issue for me whether at winger, cam or wingback is the same thing. He just lacks that physicality and ability for me to see him as a starting player. He has pace but not blistering pace, he can dribble but isn't really a player that constantly beats his man, he works hard but you wouldn't put him in the category of an Amad or Antony in terms of workrate. He also physically gets bullied quite a bit. I don't really see how those things help him as a wingback. I can see it more with Amad and Antony than Garnacho.

My interpretation is that Amorims attacking wing backs thrive in space and on the break.
Whereas the number 10s are more ball playing.
This is why I think Garnacho is suited.

As you have highlighted there are areas he needs to improve on but he’s young and capable of learning it in addition to changing his mentality.
Its whether he can, which may be why he’s not in the team.

Shows he is at least trying to knuckle down and stick to football and not emotionally like tweets criticising his teammates (if it was indeed him doing it and not someone running his account) less distractions off the pitch

Liverpool 2:2 Man Utd New
Very good performance off the bench. Helped kill Liverpool's momentum by putting them on the back foot. Without that sub I think we lose by a goal or two.

I’ve not been a fan of him coming on into that 10 position in recent games he unbalanced the side but he was really good today.

He’s starting to look up more instead of blindly running it to the wings and it showed today. Got a nice assist and kept the ball and recycled it back when the breakthrough wasn’t on. Great cameo

He was very good today, great to see. I wanna see him rebuild himself, he can be a top player if he applies himself the right way and keeps his head down

He's very, very effective at coming on in the second half and running at tired players. This is the perfect role for him. Thought he played very well when he came on.

Looks like he's putting in the work and listening to Amorim.

Couple weeks ago, he'd never even attempt to cross the ball. Today, he attempted about 3 in quick succession. Good signs that he's working on his game.

A wonderful attitude after what has been going on recently. Could have chucked it in, but looks to be working hard every cameo.

I just dont get why he doesnt trust his pace fully.

Down the wing he needs to sometimes just hit and run when one on one with slower center backs but he keeps cutting backwards.
