I agree fully with this assessment, today it was frustrating to see Dorgu make the overlap (that is a trademark of City's team) and he just would not pass and went looking for the hero shot.

Now that Antony, Sancho and Rashford have all struggled in the past 12 months, we are relying on Garnacho to be the main man. He is not ready for that and we have been over playing him. He’s not a Rooney or Ronaldo level talent that he should be playing every game, so stop treating him like one. But sadly, we have no choice due to our poor decisions in the transfer market.

Fergie always had experienced pros in the attacking positions unless they were a special talent like Giggs, Rooney or Ronaldo, but even they were surrounded by good attackers.

Yeah I just don’t think he’s as talented as people think. He’s not even very good right now, he’s a bang average mid table type winger. So unless he fully transforms his instincts/decision making on the ball or really becomes a lethal finisher (don’t see it), I think the rate of improvement he might have is relatively marginal compared to what many seem to expect

The reason he was more selfish yesterday is because he played more narrows as a LF.

In his last few games he has been playing more as a wide winger with Dalot playing as an narrow inverted wingback which allows Garnacho to play wider providing crosses in to the box - so him being greedy thing is not entirely true because he is assisting usually from the wide left centrally to the box.

He went back to trying to be a goalscorer today & didnt interlink well with an overlapping Dorgu compared to an under lapping Dalot.

Hopefully he changes this and can build a dynamic with Dorgu because having him combining both with inside Dalot or an outside Dorgu at LB would mean he turns out to be more of a complete player; right now he is only doing one.

However, it was still his first game with Dorgu.

Surprised with how bad his finishing is though, if he sorts that out then him being selfish wouldn't even be an issue.

Either be a selfish forward that can score goals, or an unselfish wide player that can create chances for others.

Exactly. He's young, inconsistent and talented but he's no generational player. He should be used as an impact sub right now but because we have so few options he's being forced to play most games. That miss was horrific though.

I don’t think the finishing is the major issue. It’s that he consistently makes terrible decisions and displays a lack of football intelligence (movement aside). He’s not a team player, much like Rashford he just plays his own game and that’s not conducive to being part of a high quality team. He’s also a terrible passer so has one main trick to cut inside and shoot.

Needs to show improvement in those key areas if he’s going to be worth a starting place.

All of it can be somewhat fairly excused by his age and inexperienced, to be honest. We are putting far too much pressure on him and expecting too much because of how bad we are overall. He shouldn't be expected to score every chance and make the right decision every time

I still think that if he had converted the chances he had gotten in the beginning of the sesaon, EtH would be in a job and we might have been faring better.

He is 20, he will improve, yes. Aligned on all that. Want him to stick around, yes.

But, if you are relying on him as a first team starter (unfortunately for all parties), then the expectation around the final output needs to be clear. And that, in my view, is goal contributions.

He is nowhere near Amad talent, he has scored 43% of our goals alone and ties up 2 or 3 opposition players whenever he plays due to the fear factor he brings.

Garnacho on the other hand has same limitations as Rashford, lack of intelligent decision making and shot variance.

He's also 2 years older and 2 years ago Amad hadnt done anything for us yet. So yes Amad is a level above where Garnacho was when playing well last season, but thats what you'd expect from an older player
