Physical beast would be an understatement for Zlatan.

So much was made of his age, but he's arguably the fittest in our team and possibly one of the fittest going around in football. He will easily play 2 more years at the highest level, possibly winning the EPL and winning the CL year after.

He's basically the Cantona of today's generation, flair of Berbatov and determination of Keane all combined in one body. Only regret remains as to why we didn't approach him at his absolute peak.

I can just imagine some glorious images in my head ... Laying upon vengeance against Guardiola aka "spineless coward", tormenting Stones - Kolarov/Otamendi partnership single handedly and probably getting a hat-trick against them.

It was like a quick warning at the start of the game, "not gonna be fecked with here lads."
Yeah, think he knew he wasn't getting there but went for it just to let them know who they are dealing with. Just a tank of a man

He's rarely been injured in his career but for the past three seasons he's averaged about a month out. So i suppose we'll have to count on that happening. Fingers crossed etc.

Is there a single CB in the league that is physically capable of handling him (strength wise, not pace wise)?

Wes Morgan couldn't do shit, and he's a unit.

Actually kinda sad that Squirtle is out of the picture with Liverpool, would have loved him trying some 'ard man antics with the Zlat.

On a day when Kompany's bionic knees are strapped in and not malfunctioning, which in itself is an extreme rarity, I'd expect him to be able to come close to matching Zlatan physically. Not sure if he's be completely successful, but I don't think he'd be totally bullied into the ground.

You're a ray of sunshine aren't ya!
When it comes to Zlatan i'm all praise. Talk about his imposing style of play brought me to look it up. I just want him to take care of himself, somebody please think of the children!

Zlatan willed himself to score a goal once Wayne scored and after his good free kick was saved. He smelled blood and wanted to get a goal and kill the game. You could see he raised his game up another level.

The way he came flying in kung fu style after his free kick was saved was a perfect example of what he can offer that most other strikers in the world can not. He is desperate to get on the ball. It's beautiful to see.

I love him, and he is ours!! Still can't get over the fact that we bought in these magnificent players!

6 foot 5! Hard as fook!!

Imagine; you've made it, you are a starter centre-half in the Premier League, where men battle men and referees are lenient. You've always been stronger than your direct opponent. Enter the Zlatan.

Being manhandled is a confidence-breaker for anyone, but when strength is your main asset, it has to be absolutely shattering.

Obviously early but LOL @ people thinking Zlatan fecking Ibrahimovic would have trouble in the PL. Oh no, the likes of Bournemouth, and Hull City and Watford! The guy has feasted on lesser teams throughout his career and he'll do the same again now. And cleaning up in those easy matches, that's how you win league titles.

Long live the Swedish God

I am really looking forward to our game vs West Ham. I feel we always take a beating when playing them (physically). Try carrying one of our players now!

Love his confidence to hit it outside the box. You get that Ronaldo/RVP superstar feeling from him. Hopefully he can lead us to big things this season.

with zlatan and pogba now we are a threat even from 30 yards out. something that we haven't been ever since scholes gets older and ronaldo leaving, and oh RVP in his first season too. he looks like scoring from anywhere then!

Someone make a gif of the time he sat Arter on his arse with that little flick past him at the end

Reminded me of Ruud against Arsenal in the 2003 title run-in. The one where we wore blue at Highbury. Was just waiting for him to dink it over their keeper.

One free kick and it was on target. Rooney is lucky to get 1 in 10 on target.
I actually feel we might get some goals from free kicks this season.

zlatan gif

I remember his one goal in serie-a, either juve or inter, which started in the same manner. One flicks to skin his man in left flank then he finished it himself. glorious.

I expected him to be more selfish as some of the best players usually are but he really does seem to work hard for the team! Early days but feck me I have missed quality like his in the team. I hope we have him for 2 seasons!

I was one of the few who were hesitant about signing him. I underestimated his physical conditioning though, he looks absolutely superb. Obviously only one game but it looks like I was wrong.

Has he always been such a physical beast? I don't remember him being that muscular and big when he played against us with Inter in 2008/09.

Just seeing him swan around the pitch being Zlatan whilst wearing a United shirt makes me really feckin' happy.

Honestly, the man is a mad bastard lunatic. Chant was great as well. He went in and set a proper hard tone with that header! Crazy stuff. Looks hungry for work and this is another little coup that could come off trumps for Jose this season as well. I didn't really expect him to be proper mad and hungry for a fight. He will fit right in with that attitude.

He looked wrecked at the end of the game but was still charging around, I wonder what his recovery time is like. Rashers could be odds on to play the midweek kickoffs.

IIRC Rio couldn't handle him personally physically. I meant that Rio mostly just let him did whatever he wanted in physically duel and needed help to contain him. Vidic had a stalemate with Zlatan in physical duel as I recall while Zlatan pace at the time is too much for Vidic to be able to handle him hence the shift was handed over to Rio. Zlatan is always capable of physical duel, but he prefers the general play himself. This means Rio would be better suited to mark him most of the time.

Berbatov, Torres IIRC received the opposite treatment due to the fact that Vidic on good form can dominate physically and negate their agility. In case they slip out, then a Rio to cover.

Always nice when someone echoes the thoughts you couldn't quite get into words. :D

Also, I wonder how often Mourinho uses the word "Guardiola" to get Zlatan fired up before matches. He's going to bag a brace or be sent off against City, mark my words.

The joyment I felt as a Swede when it was clear that Zlatan was about to join my team, immensely happy! Looking forward to seeing him in red, and hopefully live as well :)

Yesterday reminded me just how much bigger he is than everyone else. It was like when you see some 20 year old playing against a bunch of 13 year olds in the park. He was only denied an early goal by the fact their centre half is also a genetic freak. No doubt in my mind he'd have scored otherwise.

But physically, he looks like he's going to bully so many this season.
