Physical beast would be an understatement for Zlatan.

So much was made of his age, but he's arguably the fittest in our team and possibly one of the fittest going around in football. He will easily play 2 more years at the highest level, possibly winning the EPL and winning the CL year after.

He's basically the Cantona of today's generation, flair of Berbatov and determination of Keane all combined in one body. Only regret remains as to why we didn't approach him at his absolute peak.

I can just imagine some glorious images in my head ... Laying upon vengeance against Guardiola aka "spineless coward", tormenting Stones - Kolarov/Otamendi partnership single handedly and probably getting a hat-trick against them.
He also has that big personality that Cantona has.

Has he always been such a physical beast? I don't remember him being that muscular and big when he played against us with Inter in 2008/09.

Thought he had a very good game. Great link-up play, scored a brilliant goal and was close to scoring another with his free-kick, which was very well taken.

Could have had a brilliant assists as well had Rooney not fecked it up.

He's rarely been injured in his career but for the past three seasons he's averaged about a month out. So i suppose we'll have to count on that happening. Fingers crossed etc.

Yeah. He was certainly injured 3 months in 4 seasons with PSG.

The only thing that saddens me is we'll only have him for a couple of seasons. Its like falling for the girl of your dreams but you know it won't last since she's flying away to the other side of the world :(

I'll be honest, I was rather underwhelmed with the signing once it was announced, but he is bloody perfect for us in our current shape. I think he could be even better once Rooney is phased out of the team, with runners either side of him...

Only reservation I had about him was the fear that he'll do a Schweinsteiger and come here to collect the pension, but he looks up to it and really has his goals set at winning with us.

We have extremely likeable and cool players in the squad this season. Ibra, Pogba, Blind, Shaw, Bailly the standouts for me.

I can't believe people actually doubted him. He's going to have a hell of a season, looks like he could last a good few years yet too.

It's hard to explain, but I just feel calm and safe knowing that Zlatan is out there on the pitch in our shirt. He soothes me  I mean, it's Zlatan for Christ's sake!

He's a powerful man but I wasn't expecting him to level the opposition centre backs like he's done a couple of times so far.

It does make me wonder: How can anyone be surprised about this? Did people seriously think Ibrahimovic would suddenly lose all his might once he crossed the channel? He was always going to completely flatten most players in the EPL just like he bullied most players everywhere else.

No. Obviously not. He's a huge presence but it was a couple of moments of aggression and determination that I wasn't really expecting.

Yeah its good to see a big bloke actually using his size. I was always disappointed with Welbeck for not doing the same. Built like light heavyweight but too timid to use it.

A good start from him. Still have my reservations about how he'll do against better teams who keep the ball from us. Will he be able to get in the game? We'll see.

Whoever plays in the 10 position will be the biggest benefactor. Ibra dropping deep gives that player lots of opportunities to run onto things.

But it's the Premiership man, it's not like an easy league where all 'dem Johnny Foreigners are playing all soft like. Proper tough football. Mens football. Manly men.

We have instantly added a beast in the attack and a beast in defense. The goal was obviously class but the next best moment from him was when he jumped into that cross fully committed, no elbows just his body. That kind of commitment lifts the whole team up. Here's a man who's won everything out there and he has no problem getting smashed in his face just to maybe get a shot on target.

I am just a bit disappointed that he didn't go for the goal at the end. He was in a great position to shoot.

Has anyone got a clip of Zlatans free kick (either from behind the goal angel or a 3rd person view from behind Zlatan)? It looked like a very good free kick but couldn't tell from the BT default angle view.

dont have a clip but they showed a replay from that angle where i watch it, it was pretty close to the center of the goal.

He's the strong character we've been crying out for this last few years but he also very likeable too - he's constantly smiling in all of his interviews and on the images from the training ground. I must admit, I completely misjudged his personality prior to him moving here.

I'm genuinely surprised by his overall temperament. He doesn't moan or throw his arms up in the air which i thought he would whenever he receives a bad or hospital pass. Instead he applauds his teammates for the intention and effort to find him

Yeah, plus all his comments pre and post match were about the team winning being the most important thing - not at all like the public perception

I actually think Ibra is very aware of all this "can he cut it against PL defences" bollocks and will flatline a few of the scruffy cnuts playing cb in the PL just for the sake of it.

People are convinced that the Ligue 1 is a nothing league, so they logically thought that crossing the channel was going to expose him.

I have said this before, but Ibra has changed a lot. He used to be a total d*ck in every sense, now he is a team player and just seems nicer in every sense. He has matured on and off the pitch.

Its like they completely ignored that he fored 50 goals, llenty in the CL just because its an easier league. People doubting he would score 15 or 20 goals even is laughable

Great first game. Even he admitted it was a tough game after, which is encouraging to know he's not taking it lightly. I think I had a few arguments in the Harry Kane thread about how he would easily be able to handle the physicality of the premier league. I think people really underestimate the physical nature of Ligue 1. He's going to be a real integral part to our league charge this season. Lets hope he can repeat that performance against Southampton.

I think it's also a case of people overestimating the strength of defending in the PL. Maybe he doesn't put away regular hattricks against the bottom half of the league but those teams certainly aren't good enough to stop him from scoring regularly. And when you consider how well English teams have handled even average teams in the CL lately, I see no reason he can't score against the top half too. He can certainly get to 15+ league goals if he stays healthy.

I don't understand the physicality argument when it comes to ibrahimovic... I mean, he has an imposing figure, being almost 2m tall.

He's a proper center forward, he'll be a good signing for us. I like the way he absolutely battered Wes Morgan for the win in the CC.

Dont remember when last we had a CF of his Ilk. A real brute in the box but with the touch and technique and skill of Berbatov. Amazed its taken him this long to come to England

Don't know why he hasn't scored more headers in his career, really. He obviously prefers playing with the ball on the ground but he has the physique and technique to be great in the air. He has had a few concussions, maybe that has something to do with it but he really has been a more aggressive self in the games so far. The man has nothing to prove but he's arrived to prove a point.

I think a lot of people thought the pace of the league would some how negate his presence, maybe? It's bizarre.
