We've currently got the £80 million Antony fully fit and not getting a kick because the manager like everyone else thinks he's rubbish.

Yes Mount can't stay fit, but at least when he is the manager clearly rates him and sees him as a key player.
Lip service from the manager. I doubt Amorim wants him here next season.

Good to see you running through the forum following me around. Just like the only thing Mason Mount is good at, running around the pitch with no other benefits, the pressing genius.
 get off your high horse, I saw the thread was bumped and thought maybe it might be an update on his injury, instead it's you bumping it because of your weird obsession with hating Mount.

In what languages are you translating names of individuals?
My first language is Arabic. I probably read his name once or not even once (in English) so wont be easy to remember. I had to google it after the gotcha celebrations from the guys here.

Genuinely forgot he even plays for us. At least Shaw has company on the treatment table.

Let Mount rehab through the end of the season and see what he’s got in summer training.

English isn't my first language either, that means feck all when it comes to names, though.
It does if your first language is not latin descendant. Hearing the names in Arabic from commintators does not spell the same in English.

The fact that he hasn't played much. His legend will keep on the growing the more time he spends on the IR. See Shawberto.

Exactly as long as he does not play, he is world class and perfect for the "system".

I know what you mean mate
Funniest one for me was always Rony (Rooney). Always got his name butchered by the arab commentators.

Wish we could stop the hyperbole, a fit mason mount is clearly a very good player. The transfer was utterly dreadful however and the fact he can’t stay fit means he’s currently pointless.

The athletic ran a piece recently about signings for Manchester United, and using the software metrics they identified… mason mount based on his numbers which I suppose was interesting.

In hidgsoght he'd have just gotten repeatedly injured for Chelsea and signed a lower deal than what he was after or we could have signed him for free on lower wages. I don't know if you can sign injured players in real life but whoever gave him the medical and passed him should absolutely be fired. We were all assuming his injuries were firmly behind him when defending the transfer. On paper one good experienced international but young player with his prime ahead to replace the McFred duo was good business vs the fees we received for the lads. A fit Mount is a better footballer than either. Adds to the English core, is a supposed leader off the pitch , doesn't party etc etc.

The injuries though, Jaysus I've never seen anything like it. 3-4 games and breaks down again. At this point he's making Pogba look like Bruno fitness wise. I've written him off. I think he's just broken physically and we can't depend on him when planning ahead for next season. Such a pity as I was looking forward to him becoming an influential player here and he's perfect for the postion we were trying to shoehorn Rashford into

Not sure many people on here realize how crazy this transfer has been for us. Absolute disaster, and it has all the signs of one from the very beginning.

That is an alarming injury record even before his injuries at united.
It's really not. He had a couple of injuries on 18/19 but from 19/20 to 21/22 (3 seasons) he missed 6 games with injuries. Then he had a decent amount of time off in 22/23 with connected injuries.
It's not the list of an injury prone player.

Yeah. I don't understand the (several dozen) shouts of "Anybody could have seen this coming! He was always injury prone!" when he'd missed a grand total of about 1/3 of a season worth of games in six years of first team football before he joined us.

I get people saying we shouldn't have paid big money with his contract situation as it was, but we/he have had appalling luck with how little he's been available, and nobody could have reasonably predicted his injury issues being half as bad as they have been.

After Antony obviously, judging by what he produced on the pitch and taken into account the money spent on the transfer fee, it must be our second worst transfer since I can remember.

As it stands, he’s clearly a far worse transfer than Antony. We are looking at an attacking player who has one goal and one assist for us, after a season and a half. Even when he has been fit to play, he’s done absolutely nothing of consequence.

You can say that again, it was also apparent that he wouldn't lift our level and several people pointed this out. How people being paid millions to make decisions to safeguard the interests of the club ended up wasting hundreds of millions in a series of ill thought out signings is almost criminal.

Not almost, it was dead criminal and laughable how many on here defended anything being put up by the club. Despite some absolute mind fecked decisions.

They identified him as what? A signing? He was definitely a signing, I'll give him that much!

Just shows how inept our management is that we went and bought Mason Mount who’s hardly played for the team and we adorned him with the famous number 7…

Goes right up there with keeping ETH through the summer instead of getting RA then

He was a poor signing in that 1) He cost far too much considering his contract was running down. 2) You didn't urgently need a player of that ilk at the time. 3) His reported wages look far too hefty

His last season at Chelsea was pretty average too, so it's questionable whether he'll ever return to his best. Might be one of those early-peak players, such as Owen, Whiteside and Sharpe (injuries being a big part in all three tailing off).

That being said, I do feel a little sorry for him. Always a slightly 'meh' player for me, but he was decent at his best and you cannot say that if fit and fully firing, he wouldn't be a useful option to you now in your current state.

Mount was another idiotic signing by a club hellbent on bringing in marketable names. Hopefully his recovery goes well and that he’ll be able to contribute to the club next season.

I feel for Mount because he clearly wants to play, but his body is just letting him down.

But he has to go down as worse than Antony. At least Antony is fit for selection the majority of the time.

No one really knew why we signed him at the time but were willing to see what he could do. The fact he’s hardly played since sums up the weirdness of the signing and on the few occasions he has, apart from a bit of energy, he doesn’t look much cop anyway. A truly baffling piece of business and exorbitant waste of transfer funds.
