Based on what? He started in Bruno's position vs Arsenal and only made 11 attempted passes. He's shown nothing to warrant deserving a run of consecutive starts ahead of one of our best players.
Because it's harder to make an impact from the bench and it gives Bruno a rest for the Europa and Cup games (which will be our most important). If he does nothing ship him out.

Pound for pound well in the running for our worst ever signing if things do not improve. On the very first day we were linked I was baffled as to what Ten Hag was thinking, and in his time here the contribution has been next to zero. He’s never even had a clear position here and is perennially injured.

Get rid at the earliest opportunity.

Antony still tops it for me, but he's right there below.

I still remember people here getting exasperated with me in the transfer thread for him because I was adamant it was an idiotic move and wouldn't work. The worst was honestly all of the Chelsea fans acting like they were letting fecking Gianfranco Zola leave "oh you'll love him, he'll be an Old Trafford favorite"

Said it recently, but there's a very good chance the Antony/Mount transfers are the main reason Ten Hag is unemployed right now, because if you take that 140m or so and get Kudus and Caicedo or something instead then our results probably don't end up being bad enough to bin him off yet considering what it took to actually get rid of him.

The fact he has the #7 shirt irks me every time I see him play.

I had similar exchanges. We had just finished third and won a cup, so Ten Hag’s stock was high, to the point where many had chosen to blindly align with any decision he took. The few/salary combination was so ludicrous that many had to resort to arbitrary gymnastics to validate it. Antony I agree is hard to beat, terrible signing, but Mount is in a similar bracket.

If we are able to get him, Antony and Rashford out the door and even get a bit of money back we’ll be in a great position to improve the team. The fact that he has made our fabled #7 shirt completely redundant just compounds the irritation.

"Yeah we are going to sign a #10 on the last year of his deal after his worst season with his current club which he missed much of due to injury, and we'll get held for ransom until we stump up 55m. He's also going to get 250k a week. But you don't get it, trust Ten Hag!"

I'm afraid I missed all that as I wasn't following any news and never even ventured into the thread. Whenever I logged on here I was mystified as to what possessed some numpties on the caf to keep a Mason Mount transfer thread active at all. Then one day I saw a Mason Mount thread up in the United forum and wondered what the feck was going on.

I remember all the fancy formations with him being that box to box no.8 and how he was an amazing signing for Ten Hag’s system. I called him Chelsea’s Lingard and now he is our Lingard.

Viktoria Plzen 1:2 Man Utd New
Really helped change the game tonight. Unlucky not to score. Promising performance.

Decent out there, should have scored at least one of the chances though

Love his desire. Had more shots in his first 10 minutes than rashford and zirkzee had in 60 minutes.

You never feel confident when he's through on goal.

Having said that, we looked better when he came on. I just wish he had more cutting instincts on the ball in the final third.

So frustrating. If only he had that additional bit of quality he could've been special. That was a promising performance to be fair and we were better with Mount on the pitch but somehow it still showcased his limitations.

Played really well and linked play superbly at times. Seems to have a very good understanding with Amad.

I've often questioned why he is here. But tonight, thought he really played well, his movement really helped us and hopefully with time he'll take the chances he had saved tonight.

He looked really lively today, should of course have scored a goal but him and Höjlund really injected some much needed energy into our attack when they came on

He needs a run now. Trouble is when Fernandes plays it's not easy to accommodate him.

I know he was wasteful but he was a bundle of energy and movement when he came on. He’s obviously lacking in confidence but with more and more minutes and no injury set backs he’d be a much better option that the abomination twins Rashford and Zirkzee.

I think you summarize the game well. Mount didn’t do anything worth taking the hat off, apart from two good runs (where he should have scored at least one). Yet he did do okay, and more importantly, we played better with him on the pitch.

If he continues on that trajectory, he is going to be one of the useful players at the club.

Looked good. Just better energy levels than Rashford was an improvement. I really want him to get a goal soon so that he gets some confidence.

Agree.

He needs more quality in the final third to be a contributor ultimately but for now he’s better than others.

Don’t you think that bit of quality will comeback the more minutes and match fitness he gets. But can’t fault him to always put a shift in

Missed two huge chances and messed up a counter. As lively as he looked, that’s just not good enough.
Whilst I agree he needs to improve there, the alternative is Rashford and Zirkzee which is way worse. He (and Hojlund) transformed us by giving the opposition something to worry about with the runs in behind defence. Before that they were very comfortable.

I doubt it, at least not to the extent that I'm hoping to. He never had it for me — even when he was producing great numbers at Chelsea, corner kicks aside. But he should be ahead of the likes of Rashford and Zirkzee, that's for sure.

I he think bags one and he’ll go on a run as in he’ll be a lot more dangerous around the box. He’s a class player who more often than not picks the correct option. That will be important when we will probably have less of the ball. The manager is doing the right thing rotating but I think Mount is slowly playing himself into his best 11. I expect him to start against city. Tough game and the most regular posters will be in here calling him useless. He’s got to bury one of those chances tonight though. Poor finishes
