Of course you rate Shaw on how he was when he was fit last. Thats how you would rate any player including Mount

Shaw is good, Mount has been average
But earlier at Chelsea, Mount was also good - much better than the Mount of now. It’s absolutely the same - they both were better previously

That was years ago. Shaw was good here and not years ago.
Yet again: what is the difference if none of them is available anyway? You can’t plan ahead with Shaw and Mount in mind, unfortunately - so both should be replaced

When he returns it will be like a new signing
Again ...

Feel for him but it's a waste of money signing so far and given the money and circumstances it's gonna take two or three awesome seasons to change that (which I don't see happening)

One of ETH's most bizarre signings. He gets a lot of flak for the Antony transfer (rightly so) but Mount slips under the criticism radar as we can't really judge him properly.

Mount was the first signing of that particular transfer window and at £ 55 million was a large chunk of our summer transfer budget.

Amorin is going to play him no matter what if he can overcome the injuries. No point going on about how much he cost that's not his fault. As ever trust the process...

Amorim seems to love Mount! I think Mount is a real manager/players player, would love to see a period of time with Mount in the team where he doesn’t get injured, I think he’ll be a great asset to the team

People rate him but I honestly liked McTominay more. At least he was rarely hurt and got the one off goal here and there. Not sure what Mount has provided accept adoration from the manager.

Can we please just sell him? Don't want another "Shaw".

Unfortunately difficult to sell a player who can barely get through a game anymore without picking up some injury of sorts.
And add top top level wages of 250kpw to that and i have no clue who is going to be interested.

The injuries are the precise reason we can't sell Shaw or Mount.
I know, I know.. it's just that I never wanted him or understood why we got him. So all these injuries are even more annoying

Let’s just lock all threads about MM and try and eradicate him from our thought process. Whilst I fell sorry for him, the guy will have made over £20m in wages before he ever, if he ever does, contribute something to this team.
Giving Antony are run for the worst high profile signing in the clubs history.

The best we can hope for is probably a loan somewhere so that he can prove he can stay fit, and someone will buy him at that point. Hard to even that when he cannot make it past 15 mins a game, though.

I’ve never seen anything like this, yet another medical dept cock up? I like the player a lot and have always stood up for him as I think when he’s fit he clearly has a lot to offer but this is so frustrating and it’s not like we didn’t get a good look at him in the medical.

These comments are hars towards Antony. Antony is without question a huge flop but he at least was available these 3 years and has already 90 games with 12 goals.
Mount is easily our worst transfer ever. 70 mil and huge salary for (so far) nothing in return.

Shame though. I do think that he is perfect player for Amorim.

Dont worry once he's recovered from this injury, he will be like his old Chelsea self again where he's available almost everytime. Joga bonito, one love.

Why we keep buying/giving contract extensions to injury prone players?

Sad that he's so injury prone, and especially not his fault we overpaid for him with a year left in his contract at Chelsea. Hard to stay at the top of your game with these niggling injuries killing your match rhythm over and over.

Although I doubt it'll happen, we should get rid if any decent offer comes in.

This guy cost a huge sum of money, was given the No. 7 shirt, and became a starter, yet he's injured all the time. Given these circumstances, he's as big a flop as Antony.

Feel really sorry for him, it must be so disheartening, he is an excellent, unselfish and technically gifted player and a perfect fit for your new system.

Also it was clear as day we needed a starting striker and true CM/DM as our top priorities that summer. We went with overpaying for Hojlund (although the jury can still be out) and targeting Mount as our top midfield target. Just brutal outlays with big chunks of our budget those summers.

What actually is the injury? Is it the same type of injury that has kept him out previously?

Mount had been named player of the year at Chelsea in 2021 and 22, academy player of the year in 2016 and 2017, and several other personal awards of that kind across his career. He was one of the most promising PL players of his age bracket.

People love to have wildly revisionist takes on players who fail at United, but in most cases, they were great signings at the time. Then, as happens nearly every time, they flop after coming to United. Suddenly everyone decides that the club was insane for signing them. The reality is that the club itself is rotten and something here ruins the careers of almost all players who come.

Love this thread. Filled with good wishes and best hopes for this injury prone player to one day come good. Then you go to the Garnacho thread and it’s sell sell sell. I hate this selfish prick. He’s not as good as he thinks. Etc. etc. etc. Our fans are truly dumb as rocks to think a 20 year old talent won’t have a better career than Mason fecking Mount.

Let's not be revisionists. Half of the caf didn't want him. I believe it was polled.
