I still dont think Mason Mount is a bad player or a 'nothing player' as the popular term around here is. It is just that he cant stay fit. I suppose we should try to get rid of him and reinvest the money but who would want to buy him and who can pay his wages? I think he is staying for the foreseeable future

I hope he can find some fitness but these injuries are worrying. His body just can't seem to handle playing

The difference between him and Hojlund is shocking. Hojlund is constantly going down from all sorts of angles and dusts himself off ready for the next time while Mount doesnt even need contact with an opponent and his body will break down

We just can't rely on him to be a 'main' player for us. It's terrible for him to be going through yet another injury, and I feel sorry for him. But, we just can't rely on him and can't (and shouldn't) regard him as a starter or part of our first choice 11. He's a rotation option, when fit...which isn't very often.

shame we will never get to know if he would work for us. The chances were high I'd say before the started to get injured every second game.

Feel for him personally. But I'm pretty much done with him now, don't think it will work out here - he is broken.

Really felt for him with that injury, he looked really upset.
Aye must be quite scary for him not being able to get through 10 minutes of running.

Edit: didn’t realise there was a challenge that someone else mentioned

Gutted for him, think he could be such a useful player in this system if he regains form. And most of all he seems like he really just wants to play football and his body is just failing him.

Obviously shouldn't have paid as much as we did for him given he was coming off an injury and with his contract situation, but there was no sign he was permanently crocked like this at the time. Had an injury his final Chelsea season but he was an iron-man for them before that.

He makes Anthony look like a good signing.

Serious questions need to be asked off the medical team that thought is was ok to sign him.

Yeah, I don't see who would want him and at his wage level. I think I read that his deal has 3.5 years left, don't imagine he'll go anywhere in the next 2.5 years.

Sadly, Mount is typical of the type of player we have bought since Sir Alex: Expensive, injury prone, and overpriced for being 12 months from free agency. Nothing against him personally but it's slightly ridiculous that he's Man Utd #7.

Felt so bad for him to get injured unbelievably yet again. Not certain about his top level but you can never question his attitude and is exactly the sort of player we need around the club - if he can stay fit which seems unfortunately unlikely atm.

The obvious elephant in the room is that his game is so reliant on his counter-pressing and covering distances. If his body keeps breaking down — what does he even offer when is he back? He doesn’t really have the skillset to change how he plays and still be a good player (and it’s honestly debatable that what he does currently offer is good enough, anyway).

Really unfortunate but awful signing in all.

Was doing some good work in that left sided number 10 position before he got injured again. He's shown some good things under Amorim but it's no use if he can't play. He's a very smart player and imo when he gets an extended run of games he'll finally show why we got him but I'm starting to lose hope.

Really sucks. Think he’s an ideal player for Amorim’s system and think he’s got such a professional attitude. But these injuries are debilitating. We can’t rely on him and have to move on from counting on him, relegating him to a squad player. I just hope we can get to the bottom of what’s wrong with his body. He’s only 25 ffs.

People love giving crocks a hard time but this guy, I just feel bad for him. Consummate team player, hard worker, very intelligent on and off the ball. Just can’t catch a break. Sadly, as a team we need to have starting players we can rely on for fitness.

Yeah good point.

You watch him racing around, pressing like a mad man and think "ease back a bit before the inevitable happens."

But as you that's his game.

Felt for him, but seriously the guy couldn't finish a cup of tea.

For his body to breakdown again today after jogging around for a few minutes :o

He's done here.

His body cannot cope with top level football. Hopefully we can shift him this summer, it'll be a massive loss but getting anything for him would be a bonus.

Likeable guy but so unbelievably unreliable. Certainly up there as one of our worst ever signings (pound for pound) as we can't even get him consistently on the pitch let alone contributing goals and assists. Should cut our losses before his value depreciates even more - although his stock is already at an all time low.

Another Hargreaves? However, I hope our medical staff can fix whatever it is that is plaguing him. Looked devastated today when he came off.

I liked him at the start. But this is ridiculous, can't keep players who are never fit anymore.

I'd give him maybe 1 or 2 more chances and then out the gap with him.

Feel for him. Seems like any time he gets any sort of form going he gets injured. Just can't get a consistent run of games and good performances to build up the confidence. Hope he can rebuild his career if not here than elsewhere.

It’s almost like Shaw: the player himself is good, but never available - so what’s the point?

As frustrating as his injuries are it makes me laugh how emotional and angry people get about him and Shaw. Calls to terminate their contracts or move them on immediately. Who exactly is buying a permacrocked player on a massive contract lads? Might as well just ride these contracts out and hope the players can give good minutes on the rare occasions that they are fit.

I think this is unfair to Shaw. He's proven himself to be a very good player here, Mount has not so far. He's had the odd decent performance and the rare good performance but nothing to justify his signing. Even if he was fit every week if he put in the same level of performance as he has done so far he would have failed here. Unfortunately we have injuries on top of that, so its hard to get much momentum for him. But other players have been able to come in and do something that makes sure they're in the team the next week while he's been here and he's been lacking in performances where hes done that.

That’s one of the biggest problems of post-Fergie United: the club puts too much emphasis on what this or that player has done in the past. Whereas current performances (and in this case - mere availability even) are more important

Of course you rate Shaw on how he was when he was fit last. Thats how you would rate any player including Mount

Shaw is good, Mount has been average

Every single United fan, bar the usual idiots, knew we didn't need him with the financial constraints we already had at the time. Nor did any of us actually want him. What an absolute waste of time this transfer was for everyone involved. Well, except Chelsea that is.
