It did? How? Circumstantial evidence is very much that there was a contractual clause until he became club top scorer. He got dropped rather quickly after that by Mourinho.
Can you provide a source for this please? I've never heard of this before

Neh not true at all!

This isn't true.

Rooney was dropped from the starting XI in September 2016 after gameweek 5 when we lost to Watford, and City as well, prior to that. He never regained his place as a starter in the team after that, and only started 4 more league games until April, when the focus wasn't on the league anymore.

He also just played 5 minutes in the KO stage of the Europa League and was only used by Mourinho in the group stage games, and the two domestic cups.

He scored the record breaking goal vs Stoke City in January 2017, over 4 months after he was permanently dropped by Mourinho as a key player.
We were all buzzing when he got dropped thinking it would turn things around.

Turns out we were just awful.

I'm done with him.

Such a stupid loss of possession for their 2nd goal and he barely put in any effort out there.

Disgraceful cameo.

Was fuming because we may have got chance over an unlikely point whilst it was 1-0

I really struggle to comprehend some of the abuse he gets from our own fans sometimes.

The comments on the post he made on twitter about Kath are so fecking grim.
It would have been the same for every popular player who wasn't playing well in the past as well, but the modern internet didn't exist then.

Just imagine Beckham's tweet comments after his red card in '98. Any creature who takes time out of their day to comment hate on an athletes social media post about an old woman dying probably needs to be thrown into a hole somewhere anyways.

Ruben seems like a reasonable and smart guy and I'm pretty sure he already knows Rashford is quite limited and impede the team's ability to keep possession. He'll faze him out slowly, or at least will try to work around Rashford's issues as for them to not circumvent the team's ability to perform as a whole.

It's sad to see Rashford's inability to look like a footballer if the team isn't solely set up to counter attack. No wonder Ten Hag had abandoned his plans to play possession, controlled football but instead went with trying to be a transition team given his personnel consisted of the likes of Rashford who were meant to be a core part of the team. Add to his unwillingness to press and work hard, you have this version of Rashford who is clearly detrimental to the team.

Apparently Rashford had to turn off comments to a post he made about the death of Kathy due to abuse from United fans

We really do have the worst fanbase in football. I just don't understand how you can call yourself a supporter and show so much hate to your own player.

I know I've been guilty of criticizing players in the past but I like to think it wasn't out of pure hate and I feel I've learnt not to be such a prick.

It's this.
Morons spewing filth always existed, it's just that their words weren't permanently stamped for all to see.

Yep 2 goals against mighty Barnsley and Everton (one of whom was a clear own goal from Jarrad) and 1 goal against Ipswich and Southampton.

For the record I am not saying that its 100% the case. There might be something I am missing. All I am saying (and its evident in the first post were I said it) is that I sometimes wonder if there's a minimum appearance clause inserted in his contract as I genuinely can't understand why he keeps getting so many chances.
I’m no fan but the Braithwaite one was a great hit and looked to be going in anyway

Yeah that was outrageous, and such disrespect towards both Rashford and the memory of Kath Phipps.

Isn’t this basically when the leaks started with ETH. When said they needed to run more and tried to increase their training to prepare for that. Amorim going straight for it.
ETH said that within the first 3 games, when we got run all over by Brentford or Brighton or most likely both.

If we lose, this thread is at the top of the forum for the rest of the day. It's disgraceful.

He's not good enough, we get it but it is so over the top.

I remember as well in our second season the leaks intensifying about how players didn’t think they needed to run and were running for the sake of it etc. years of reactive counter attacking really created a bunch of lazy fecks.

I started supporting United as a kid and had no idea how up their own arse our "supporters" are.

Its like they have forgotten that sport is just an entertainment no different than a TV Show or a film with sequels but to many its become much more than that and have now taken everything very personally to their own lives almost like players like Rashford & Maguire are stealing their own money without them receiving any returns.

If i had known about how abusive our fanbase was - i'd have 100% supported another club and most likely one of our rivals. I guess back then we had SAF & everything was rosey all the time. Im sure i would have pissed someone off by me saying that i would have supported a rival due to how horrible our fanbse is, just showing how entertainment has gotten so personal in some random peoples lives.

The press question to Amorim about the video showing Rashford walking away and not acknowledging the away fans.

That's a terrible look, Marcus. The only one who didn't stay. Unreal.

Unless there's a genuine reason for him walking away like that, e.g. injury or something, that's just disgraceful and so disrespectful.

Not just back then.. Why the f... would you support another/rival club just becaurse some United fans are idiots?? Dont you think Liverpool fans have idiots as fansas well? There are idiots everywhere in life.. I bet that in your school/work there are a few idiots too.. I have never understood why people care so much if United have idiots as fans..it has nothng to do with you or United, those who try to paint that picture are also idiots.. Be proud of being United and try be the best you can be, then you beat those idiots

True. Like how hard it is to stand there and applaud fans like the rest of your teammates? And this is our hardcore away fans. Don’t they even deserve that from him? How much of a dickhead you have to be to walk away like that. Completely repulsive behaviour from a United academy player and a local lad no less.

Hope the club is smart about phasing him out. Let him play against the weaker teams so he can score and build up a respectable value for the summer transfer window.

Also, more than anything I’m amazed how brazen he is not to stand there and applaud the fans under this new manager. Zero fecks given and utter disrespect shown not only to the fans but also to Amorim. It’s like “I don’t care he’s the new manager, I’m just gonna do what I want and don’t care what he’ll think of it”. This kind of entitlement and untouchable behaviour pisses me off to no end.

This is entirely unacceptable. We need to phase him out, and there is already a good replacement ready (Chido Obi)

The difference in Real Madrid fans and Barcelona fans are there all to see.

One is more successful but also less supportive but Barcelona has more culture and a type of way of the club that you can really get close to and enjoy even as a neutral football watcher.

The way Barcelona fans for example treat Neymar, Suarez, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets is completely different to how Real Madrid view players like Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Kroos, Modric & Casemiro.

I guess theres an element of needing that fighting spirit as theres a reason teams like Bayern, Madrid and maybe United (viewing league titles over CL's) are so successful - but its heavily reliant of craving glory over support and stamping any player down who doesnt deliver it.

I see fans at clubs like Fulham or Championship sides with packed full stadiums and im shocked at how much support they give such inconsistent teams.

I personally dont care about how successful United are because its the only club i have interest in watching since i grew up and it cant be changed. However i also believe one person isnt going to change a whole clubs ambitions & success - but a million people and there relative quantity and quality of support can; especially in the most competitive league in the world that has moved on from the 2 club competing per title as still seen in every other league to this date.

Do you see more support for players in quantity at United over hatred?

The way alot of people talk about our players is pure disgusting & the actions they take to get their mouths heard and its been labeled bullying by many players at United. They will all dance when Lingard scores a last minute FA Cup Winner but a game in to the next season they have completely forgotten about that & suddenly hate his lifestyle by assessment of things like their personalities.

Theres way to talk about players decline or not seeing their potential as i have even done with players like Hojlund but im also looking forward to them proving me wrong. Other fans would personally drive these players to the airport to get rid of them asap as ive literally heard 1000x or more.

Posting a video with a Stake ad ffs. Clearly a very concerned fan and not engagement bait.

United fans are the worst in football I have absolutely no doubt and this thread proves it. Our fanbase is a disgrace

There were many videos of him walking away after the game without the Stake ad. There were many questions directed to Amorim at this press conference, about Rashford walking away, about Rashford not working hard enough, and about why Ten Hag was frustrated with him. A clean break will probably be best for both sides.

So much deflection and dancing around the very simple fact of he consistently does not work hard and show commitment on the pitch. You’d think the lecturers in here understand that his attitude and lack of commitment stands against everything this club, the city it resides in, and the specific area of the city it resides in stand for. I don’t give two fecks about his form or how many goals he’s scored. He does not conduct himself like a Manchester United player and does not deserve to put that shirt on because he either doesn’t care or doesn’t understand what it stands for.

Bizarre. Utterly bizarre.

He clearly tries very hard.

You’ve all utterly and completely lost your heads. Three goals in two prem games under a new manager and looking sharp again and you’re kicking off.

“Needs more players that run like mad dogs”

Mourinho said exactly the same about his team back then.
He’s not wrong, my biggest issue with us over the last 10-12yrs is that we have consistently been a very lazy team. Players are mostly at fault but Amorim has to be brave and drop the lazy players and choose the ones who will do the basics 100% even if they are seen as lesser players.

Do one then if we're all so bad.

The terrible United fans who support managers long after any other club would.
Those awful fans that supported Evra when he was racially abused by Suarez.

Those monsters.

For some reason I can’t pick out Rashford in this video - where is he?
