This quote stood out for me. He's right. Another quote that also stood out was Amorim saying not to go overboard with the praise for Amad and "repeating the mistakes we made with our young players in the past" which could be applied to both Garnacho and Rashford.

Exactly, people need to watch Amorim's post match press conference where he explains the decisions without having a go at the players despite the press stirring. This needs to be a wake up call for the players and hopefully they respond which is better for the team. Amorim has set his standards and all players need to learn to meet those.
Questioning player's work and conceding that Rashy lost the fight for first team +bench is quite damning. He's a senior player and a high earner not some kid

Aww poor Rashy! bet his PR team are on overdrive

Shit attitude on and off the pitch finally ditched let’s hope he’s gone in January

We’ve just beaten City with a last minute winner and still all the talk is about Rashford. Highlights exactly why him and the clown show that follows him needs to be moved on.

You’d accept all the sideshow nonsense back in the day with the likes of Rooney & Ronaldo because they were world class players who consistently delivered week in week out.

With Rashford we’re talking about a guy who’s had what, two truly outstanding seasons in his time here? He’s been so overpaid and overhyped beyond his ability to the point he believes his own hype it’s ridiculous.

Well done Amorim for seeing through him so early on and doing something about it. Just hope the club fully backs him with this and do what they can to get him out the club. He’s been our ‘poster boy’ for far too long.

It is what it is, are we not happy that the manager calls it how he sees it and acts accordingly? The other poster is right, not a moment for Rash bashing, go and celebrate the win. The manager has got this

I hope he rots in the reserves and is sold in January. We are in the same situation we were with Ronaldo

A primadonna who needs to be ran out of the club

That's not the point I am trying to make. He said that the manager explained the player's position without having a go at him. I think that he went down on him like a sledgehammer. Rashy is a senior player and among the highest paid players in the EPL. To have his manager questioning his work rate and conceding that he lost the fight to even make it to the bench is damning. These are the very basics in pro football

And we all celebrated the win. But there is a level of yay you can write. I think what happened off the pitch is even more important than what happened on the pitch. We are finally standing up to those who refuse to deliver. Winning city can be done (we won the FA cup final). Standing up to laziness and entitlement is a rare thing post sir alex

His best game of the season, didn't lose possession, no stupid shots, no running into people, didn't even see him sulking. Can't fault him.

Is the penny dropping now that how a player (seemingly) conducts himself off the pitch can affect how he is on the pitch?

Previous working theory is that the two were completely separate.

Who is the bigger star than him at United?

This is why we're in this situation. Managers have routinely ignored the laziness and the inconsistency because of a lack of alternative options. He's not a genuine star, he's just been elevated to that status through our own incompetence and desperation.

Jusy don't comment! He didn't play. Let's celebrate the win. It's not that hard. The fact that this thread has more posts (or did) than Amad following the full time whistle is mind boggling to me.
While I see where you're coming from, folks can celebrate the win while also acknowledging that the big call to drop a big player who has had the look of someone who thinks he's bigger than the club and obviously hasn't been working hard for the team paid off.

He's a bigger name than Amad, hence the traffic.

Spot on.

I have no ill will towards Marcus. I wish him all the best, but his time as a United player should come to an end. Would be good for all parties if he moves on.

Even if Rashford were playing well, I don't see a natural position for him in Amorim's system. I wouldn't be surprised if we consider any reasonable offer for him in January.

Big big win today, however equally big was the message the manager has sent out to all of Man United. At last, no one is bigger than the club. Let’s hope Rashford positively responds to this now over the Xmas, however we all know how flakey the lad is. Gone in January if he doesn’t respond now.

Personally find it disgusting that we’re using a great win as a stick to beat him with, the volume of activity in this thread is weird and says a lot about those positing in here

Beating him with a stick after a great win?? I’ve been beating him with a stick for two years, as in that time he seriously lacked any drive, desire and determination whatsoever.

The lad is taking 320k a week and has been under performing without any consequences, breeding content not only throughout the team but the club as a whole. As supporters we have every right to critique his performances and attitude.

You're talking about Rashford, everyone else is talking about beating City ...

Oh pleeez.
He was put out of the squad on a Manchester derby. Its massive news and a new low for Rashy. The volume of activity is on par and expected when one of our top most paid player, the face of the club is axed from the squad.

He has seen the same as us, and he has challenged him and Garnacho - can they reach the required levels. I think its clear that he will feck them off if he believes they are not capable. This must make most happy in here. Players will be in the team on merit
Agreed, it's really a good thing for both, Amorim thinks now they ain't good, but he said next week new life so it's an indication there is still a chance

The only insufferable fans are the ones who keep claiming that any criticism of Rashford is "disgusting" or whatever nonsense term they wanna use.

He's been horrendous for years and no top club would tolerate it, I'll be delighted when he's finally sold.

I’m hoping if this is a “wake up call” for Rashford, he’ll ask for a transfer.
There’s no way back for him at Utd, in my eyes.

Obvious why he was dropped: Amorim doesn’t seem the kind of manager who you can kid or fool.

Saying that I genuinely don’t see a place for him in this team and system. Even if he did work his socks off.
He isn’t a lone number 9, he can’t play as a ten in this system because it’s a role that requires quick movement, close control and being able to play decisively in tight spaces. Something he hasn’t ever really been good at.

The only possible role I could see his RWB, as he’s quick and has a good cross on him but his ego would never allow him to play such a role.

Has to be sold for his own sake.

It's often the case with the facts that aren't, you know, true. They seem unbelievable somehow.

When you've posted this, a couple minutes after the game has ended and the forum was opened for posting again, this thread had 4 responses. Amad's one had 35.
Wow! This has more posts than Amad.

At this point this thread has 3 pages after the full time whistle and Amad's one has 7. You can argue that 3 pages is too much for a player that hasn't featured in a game at all but it's not often that the highest paid footballer gets left out of the squad on a match day not because of an injury.

All this drama is too much going forward. Neither he’s worth the hassle nor it’s good for the new manager in setting standards. Just sell him. And all of this is for who? An above average player? I really want to see which clubs will que up to buy him and what world he’s gonna set on fire because i can tell you right now once he leaves us, he’s gonna be a nobody within no time.

Have to admit it doesn’t look great the week Rashford has been linked with United wanting to cash in on, the team being leaked 24 hours before a game, and Rashford then not being in the team…

Hope he can get his head screwed on and bounce back, a fit and firing Rashford puts us in contention to win the Europa.

I reckon we could still get a good £50/60m for him. Cash in while we can.

I reckon we could still get a good £50/60m for him. Cash in while we can.
That’s if he accepts the transfer himself. But maybe he actually will - it won’t do him any good being out of the match day squad on a regular basis, and that’s where the situation is heading

Now I have seen it all, Rashford under more pressure than Becks ever was. I mean come on just stop this nonsense. Rashford need to leave and we need to make that happen.

Rare moment of common sense from Gary Neville. He made Micah Richards look like a fool in the longer segment. Neville was spot on about all the other United players that have been under pressure here under the last few years. The best example might be Maguire, who was in a massive slump for both club and country and dug himself out of it. Rashford can do the same, or he can look for another club.

That MR might be a victim of unjust criticism and that since he's got the world on his shoulder that's why he's incapable of tracking back the same way as "kids" like Amad do.
Micah came out looking like an idiot there, tryin to defend him at all costs. The only reason why you should not be tracking back:
  • You are Messi
  • You are injured
Rashford is none. I can understand if a player is trying, but it's not coming off for him at the moment. But the effort is not here by Rashford, and hasn't been for years. If he has/had personal problems, he should've dealt with them by now.

What's trully damming for Rashford is that he is usually the first person to be substituted most games. I don't recall a game where he has fared 90 minutes. And people are still trying to make excuses for him.

I would say, it's pretty grim when Keane, Beckham and Neville, all on the same day, directly and indirectly have openly criticised him, and backed the manager in dropping thr United poster boy. Keane even said that now it's the time to sell him.

Feels like the team Is finally moving on from Rashford.

I hope I'm wrong but he has to turn it around right now. As in... this part of the season if he's not going to turn out to be a 'what could have been' player.

Hope he never plays for us again, Jan can't come quick enough.
