Kylian Mbappé | Player Performance Thread

He will leave.

That's a bit deceiving and ignores his actual answer. He said that Monaco had no intention to sell him, have a project around Mbappé and Mbappé wants to stay, they will offer him something latter in the season too. He also said that with the QF qualification Monaco finances are in the green, therefore they don't have to sell but will sell some players because it's part of the project but they are in a position to choose. At the end of the interview the host insisted and ask for a guarantee that Mbappé wouldn't be sold and Vasyliev said that he won't because nothing is guarantee in life.

Just sign him up. Him and Rashford together would scare the shit out of most defenders.

Reminds me more of a young Rooney with that goal..

For comparison:

Lionel Messi when he was 18 years old after the 04/05 season: 1 goal in all competitions (9 apps)
Lionel Messi when he was 19 years old after the 05/06 season: 8 goals (25 apps)

Kylian Mbappe who will finish the season at 18 years old is already on 17 goals in all competitions. "Pound per pound" Mbappe is outperforming Messi when Messi was Mbappe's age.

We should be doing everything possible to sign this kid. Looks a superb talent. The only worry I would have is how we find a system to fit Pogba, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Rashford and him all in? Regardles we have to get this kid.

It's scaring me how often he's scoring. We thought Rashford had good stats at 18 but this guy is taking the mick.

so finally the new Messi has arrived

Messi will be remembered as the poor mans Mbappe:drool:

In all honesty, this kid looks phenomenal, any club who gets him will have some player on their hands. I have a slight feeling it'll be Madrid who end up taking him.

That is the worst comparison ever.

Surely this summer there will be many applicants for his signing. I would like for Madrid but we can not sign them all.

Messi was a winger at that age and already one of the best players in the world.

When Messi ended the 06/07 season at 20 years old he had 17 goals and 3 assists in 36 apps. Mbappe's stats this season are 18 goals and 5 assists in 31 apps.

Because players hit the ground running at different ages. Messi was also playing in a superior league. It doesn't suggest how good Mbappe will go on to become. Mbappe is doing fantastic though, he looks to have that goalscoring instinct.

Does he play LW?

We have Martial for LW, so we won't be after him.

Can Mbappé play RW or No.9?
He played as a left winger/forward position at youth level but at senior level he's played almost exclusively as a striker. It'll be interesting to see how he develops because his finishing is absolutely lethal but his dribbling style is more suited out wide than in the middle.

Warren Buffet once said he prefer investing his money in a pesimistic market cause he like the prices pessimism breeds. Mbappe this summer will be quite the opposite with him and Monaco being "in the zone".

While being efficient and converting chances is a good sign for a striker, its unlikely that he will keep it up for a longer period. Right now he has a conversion rate close to 30 %. In ten years it will be around twenty percent (IF he lives up to the hype). Since 2009 Messi is at 21 %, Lewandowski 18-20 % etc.

The convertion rate, combined with Monaco creating lots of chances, helps build a huge hype. Monaco should consider selling him this summer.

Another brace. He is fantastic to watch.

We won't sign him though so don't get your hopes up.
