Kylian Mbappé | Player Performance Thread

@Lawman I think Martial is a more promising prospect than Rashford. Losing Martial would be unforgivable.

I agree but Rashford looks like the brighter player as Martial has not learned much this year imo. His off the ball movement is horrendous although his work rate isn't. Plus there are doubts over his attitude and his actual approach to games (he looks like he doesn't enjoy his football). I think he's a huge talent but he needs to want it and show it more for Jose I think.
Disclaimer: obviously this is my view from the outside so I maybe completely wrong

Mbappe looks very good but not a dribbler like Messi or Ronaldo really, his close control is nothing special. He looks likely to be a top striker though.

Martial will stay as a LW/LF in my opinion. This kid plays more as a striker, he's so direct it's unreal, his first thought is "how do I get to the goal?".

If we sign him, I'm not sure that'll show how much confidence Mourinho has in Rashford. I know someone mentioned we had Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez, but will Mourinho really play Martial, Mbappe and Rashford together as 3? Someone will miss out of their best position and be sacrificed for the team, just like Rooney was. Rashford is best as a striker for me, as is Mbappe from what I've seen of him. Whilst Martial is better from the left.

Some were telling us his dribbling is amazing and regularly named him above Martial in that department. I saw nothing of that so far.

His goals ratio is leading to hefty overeagerness to overrate his overall ability on the caf. It was like when the caf held on to the belief that Mascherano was a skilful midfield player before and when he signed for West Ham and some still somehow thought that after that season when he clearly showed he was a dockworker with good standard technique at best. His south american next big name midfield maestro rep reached caf shores far before he even set foot on the British ones.

Agree to both of the above. The assembled team is fast & very entertaining to watch. Of course, they might really suck next year after selling a third of their team, but it would be interesting to see if they continue to put a similarly attacking team next season.

Figure at least Mbappe, Fabinho, and probably Silva are out the door in the summer.

In theory the replacements are already there for most players with Cardona, Traoré, Boschilia and Saint-Maximin. They will have to replace both CMs and Boschilia's injury is a big blow but that's manageable.

Read somewhere that Saint-Maximin has the most succesful take-ons in the top 5 lesgues with a high succes rate as well. Is he that good?

He is good but we will have to see what he can do for Monaco.

He is a fantastic talent but nowhere near ready to be a first choice striker for United. Rashford, to take as an example, had the highest conversion rate out of all players in the Premier League last season and it was obvious he wouldn't be able to keep his numbers that high this season. I expect Mbappe to suffer a similar dip in the future as the entire Monaco team are outperforming against their xGs (expected goals).

Replacement for Sanchez at Arsenal. Arsenal would be the perfect stepping stone for him if Wenger is still there

No chance he'll move this summer. I must admit, he looks a level ahead of Rashford

What about Rashford though? I don't want to sign a competitor to him.

Martial, Rashford and Mbappe absolutely can play together if they are not selfish. All 3 of them can go wide and play through the middle if required. I am just hoping that Mourinho makes him his number 1 target this summer. With those 3 up front and Mkhitaryan behind them, just imagine the possibilities.

At the moment Mbappe looks better than both Martial and Rashford, but remains to be seen if he can keep it up when he moves to a bigger club.

How is he not anywhere ready? He's banging in goals in the latter stages of the CL. We're in the Europa.

Because he is just 18. Young players suffer dip in form and tend to be inconsistent. Didn't some of the United fans think Rashford would continue his goal scoring form this season from last season and should not be replaced with Zlatan as our first choice ?

On top of that, he plays in a free flowing team where strikers get plenty of service and the team as a whole are scoring at an unsustainable rate (not too different from Leicester last season).

I know what you mean but he does seem something special. On a level far beyond Rashford. I think if we signed him he'd easily start. Look at how Jesus relegated Aguero to the bench.

That's the wrong way to look at it, competition breeds performance, leaving the way clear for a singular player is a huge error, it puts all the eggs in one untested basket.

What if he wants to be a mermaid? Thought about that? Tough to grow a fishy tail I reckon.

Anything is possible these days if you have money to pay for it as this clip proves. I don't think his teammates would appreciate the fishy smell in the dressing room though apart from Falcao who just looks too polite to cause a fuss over it. But slippery tail could add another dimension to his game for sure

If I could sign one Monaco player I'd take Mbappe. The others are handy. This guy is huge talent. The prospect of having Rashford, Mbappe & Martial to choose from in a front 2 would be too much to resist.

Think of France, who will have Martial, Dembele and Mbappe as an interchanging front 3! Not to mention Pogba, Varane, Laporte and Umtiti.

I'd prefer Ousmane Dembele but Mbappe can become whatever he wants to be
They're quite different tbh, for now they play on the wing, but Mbappe is going to be a superstriker in a few years time while Dembele the most trickery, lethal and hazardous winger around by almeans. Think both of them are Barcelona/Real bound mind. The superbiggest talents just go there.

Monaco have several players they can cash in on this summer, thought they would keep Mbappe for at least one more season.
Perhaps they see the other players as more important to stay competitive as a team while replacing MBappe is possible aka Martial

Ever since FIFA & UEFA scandal exposed, I personally speculated that Real & Barcelona had been taking some hit in finding their financial backing for big transfer (they use loan to fund big transfer for some instance). Being closely watched the last couple seasons, Real Madrid had stopped their annual one superstar per summer window. Similarly with Barcelona. My point is if bidding war escalates, English clubs & Bayern (if they want) can match or outbid Real Madrid & Barcelona now. Real Madrid & Barcelona can't go as far with their bid without sacrifice their superstars whom is part of attraction for other players to come to these 2 clubs.

It's possible I guess, but it's hard to imagine them hanging on to Silva and Fabinho regardless and I think Bakayoko is in the last year of his contract.

Valid points, only that it seems that Dembele wants to go to Barcelona after Dortmund and Mbappe is Ronaldo's no 1 fan. Their appeal to the players is huge.

If Martial's initial fee was 37 million what will Mbappe's be? Surely with 18 goals or something this season it's 50 million up front minimum
