His crossing is so strong though. Dortmund don't have a particularly tall team, but if he played for us and we had zlatan do you not think he could offer more out wide just pinging the ball in? Genuinely asking as I haven't seen a lot of him, just a bit of Europa.

I saw quotes from his agent that he was unhappy playing out wide after he had that bad season. I wouldn't take that as gospel obviously. Maybe someone else knows more on this?

I've voted undecided, and I can't understand the universal excitement.

He might be a good player, but surely those that have seen him play have seen him have some of the worst stinkers imaginable? His performances in the Champions League, in high profile games, have been laughable.

Considering that Dortmund weren't in the champions league this year means you haven't seen him play this season he was immense this season and really has become very consistent. Him and auba are Dortmund's star men

I think you are underestimating the Mourinhio factor

Hence why I said 'undecided' and not 'no'.

I'm not going to be excited about a player that I've never seen play well (actually he was outright awful everytime) until I see him perform well for us.

Back to Mkhitaryan, will Jose play him on the right of a front 3 or a right midfield?

You are assuming he will knock Jesse out of his spot!

Wide right is probabaly his best position although his Agent thinks thats not his best position, maybe thats what he also thinks.

I genuinely forgot Lingard actually existed. I don't think he's been in my mind at all since the FA Cup final. Maybe cause there's no way Mourinho could possibly have a spot for him?

You got to be kidding me? What is it for the love in for an academy player here? That too an average on at it. At least if it was Rashford playing there I could probably understand.

If there was ever a daft sentence. This is it.

If he is going to be deployed on the right, then a lot of his success will come from who occupies our right back slot. Think on the left, likely going to have Shaw and Martial ( frightening combination)... duplicate that on the right and we are laughing. current right back choices just not good enough.

Back to the shadows for him. There just simply is no place for him. A backup is all he will ever amount to at this club.

Don't be afraid we have no CL games to worry about.

Dont underestimate the Mancunian lad, he won us the FA Cup. He can only get better in his 2nd season, factor in that not all new signings hit the ground running from the word go the Miki has some work to do

Lingard is not from Manchester.

104 votes for no, what do people want ffs?

I voted undecided cause i don't follow the Bundesliga... According to the votes, it looks like most people here watch every game in the Bundesliga aswell.
No idea how people have enough time in their life to follow all leagues, and know which players are best in every position, in every league.

The opposite is also true. There is too much dislike for Academy players here. Of all the new players who played in 1st team for the first time last season all academy graduates did much better than all the expensive buys

I think the comments came in that he isn't someone who will stand on the touchline and wait for the ball then run at the fullbacks but he does/can play from the right but usually look for space and come inside. He also can play no.10 and again drift left or right into space. Should fit in well with Mourinho's fluid 3 in a 4231 on the right or just on the right of a 433.

Adnan says hi.

Even if Lingard improves, he will never have the natural ability of Mkhi.

You don't need to watch every single game a player has played in to know they are good.

That's pretty much like saying that if Messi was available we should not go for him because we've not watched every single game he has played in this year, because most of us are United fans who don't watch Barca every game. Mourinho has watched him several times and Dortmund fans will tell you that he has been one of their best players this year, that's enough to decide that this would be a great transfer.

He's far better than Lingard

Adnan suffered due to change in Manager and im afraid Jesse might go the same route. How woul you know he wont get to Miki's ability when he is just starting his career

Warrington is Mancunian?

You're not seriously comparing the Wanyama transfer to the Mkhitaryan one, are you?

That they both had 1 year remaining? Yes

Are you forgetting that Mkhitaryan is 20x the player wanyama is?

Wouldn't know. We'll see next season

We paid £18 million for Ashley young with one year left...

That's without taking into account the united factor or inflation.

That was overpriced too

Wanyama isn't as important to Southampton as Micki is to Dortmund. Wanyama is certainly a key player and performed very well but the latter was the Bundasliga player of the year and borderline indispensable. The players cannot really be compared given one is a holding midfielder and the other plays in a front 3, but attackers as a norm are more costly than defenders/defensive midfielder. Very odd to pick a gripe with this transfer fee. £23.5 or £28m or whatever it is would be a great deal regardless of contract length.

Quick game... wonder how many people can point to Armenia on a map of Europe (without Googling of course)?!

It's the orange one in the bottom right corner - on Turkey's East border[/spiler]

Potentially great bit of business if its true, assuming he settles here which hasnt been guaranteed in the last few years. That may be an issue that needs looking at.
