Alright ffs calm down lads. I don't claim to have seen as much of Draxler as you lot have, but he impressed me in the CL this season. In contrast i haven't really seen anything special from Mki that has had me jumping with excitement. The only thing i really seem to remember about him is that he has missed some real sitters in CL games, which to be fair is as far as my interest in German teams goes. But im happy to bow to the general concensus.

Don't bow to nothing. If that's your opinion, that's your opinion. You can only go off from what you see!

An armenian at Man Utd, I would have never imagined it. :D

The state of this thread is bemusing when you consider that mkhi is being bought likely for our weakest position on the pitch, RW. It's not going to take much to improve upon mata and lingard, and he's more than just a little upgrade. People seem to only care about highlights players, well we can have those when we have a settled top quality team and aren't jumping around 4th and mediocrity. If this guy is even half as effective for us as his last season, it would still be an improvement.

The large majority think he's a great signing.

You've been mislead by the games you chose to watch for both players last season and a season before i guess. Can't compare Mkhitaryan's form with Draxler's, he wipes the floor with Draxler.

Mkhitaryan has come alive this season, after being deployed to the wings rather than the central attacking role he was presented with when Klopp was there. He's also a differend kind of winger. Most wingers are known for their goalscoring, and ability to take on players rather than play-making and tracking back. Whereas Mkhitaryan does the whole lot. His distribution is superb, whilst being partnered up with his ability to cross/pass/shoot on either foot comfortably is a huge advantage. About his back tracking, he's also quite a competent defender, and is even suited to as a backup defending mid or central mid should injuries arise. He's also got one hell of an engine, and can play the full 90 pretty much every week. His biggest weakness is still his finishing, which he improved on last season. He has scored quite a lot this season, but can he fluff some easy chances, which was evident against Madrid in the CL (you watched that game) a couple years back and even against Liverpool in EL.

Poll added
Mkhitaryan is almost the prefect option for us on the right with Mourinho really. Bags of pace, creative, hard working, can score or create, two footed and has a good shot from range, and versatile if necessary. Great in a counter attacking set up too. In terms of bringing in a right winger, he's basically on par with what De bruyne would have been last year. Arguably world class so will be a massive uograde on whatever we put there last year.

Our squad doesn't need more talented youngsters. We have Martial, Shaw, Memphis, Pereira, Januzaj, Bailly, Rashford, TFM, CBJ and Bailly who are all young and filled with potential. We need some immediate quality to lift us from fighting for fourth place to fighting for the title. Mkhitaryan and Zlatan will do nicely in that respect. Remember, our most experienced players at the moment are Rooney, Carrick and Schweinsteiger. Not exactly the players I'd want to rely on to lead our army of young guns over the course of a season, with all of them being severely over the hill.

You can win with kids, but you can't just buy kids. This isn't Football Manager. Experience is great. In fact, I wouldn't mind us signing someone like Bonucci as well, to give us more security at the back.

I've not seen a lot of this guy. I hear he's good. Plus, if Jose wants, I'm happy with his choice.

The icing will be, if he comes and performs well. Will piss those scousers off even more! For that alone I'd be happy with this transfer!

Some of the comments are getting weird now. He's a top player and will be a big plus for us next season if this goes through. He's a more proven, more experienced option over the likes of Sane, Embolo, Ounas etc. for the RW position, and can swap to #10 when needed. Perfect to get us up and running quickly.

Aye. He's great. Can't wait for this to be confirmed by the club.

He would be an excellent signing, RW was a weakness for us last season.

Will be a great signing but I can understand why some people are wary about £38m for a 29 year old

I am Norwegian, we accept barrels of oil, cod and sheep as a currency. The chair will be on Dortmunds end since it was you dicking around that made the perfect gentleman Raviola break out of character and toss it.

So norwegian clubs should buy some portuguese players, and pay in cod? That would work i think. In Dortmund they maybe accept tons of Currywurst, Chips and Beer.

I can understand a little concern when splashing £42m on a 31 year old but it is a problem position
If we give him a 5 year contract he will be 36 years old by the time he leaves. Zero resale value which is why I think we should go for Draxler

You guys are all morons, everyone knows the guy is in fact 40, and the club is hoping he'll play a Giggs like role. Keep up with the times!

Yes that is how we usually pay, that is why the Norwegian league gets all the stars.

Now that I have found out that we will be paying £45m + addons for a 32 year old and paying him in excess of £450k\week I have my reservations tbh.

How much cod you got for Oddegard? Iam getting hungry by thinking over it.

Perez wanted to structure the deal, so we got 100 tons upfront and the rest will be paid in installments as the Spanish tax payers manages to fish it.

I agree, and thanks for cluing me in and making me feel more positive about this signing.

Admittedly haven't seen a massive amount of him but he looks fast, direct, can dribble, shoot and be creative. Seems to have everything we need really.
