Gortze signed a deal with Bayern just a few weeks before the end of the season. He still played then left for Bayern that Summer.

Fair enough, I thought it was similar to the Lewy move.

Mino's press release hit everyone's emails then...

Advantage with Mourinho is that he knows how transfers (agents) work, that's really helpful in todays footballing world. I don't think Alex Ferguson figured that out, not Arsene, not Van Gaal. Gone are the days where we keep throwing out millions on a target without no idea on how to get them. I'm confident that we can reach any target if the player has the slightest interest.

Not sure I like all this talk from his agent, it's pretty disrespectful to Dortmund imo, if they've said no, and they have form of meaning it, then we, and Raiola should respect that.

Let's face it he did a number on us with Pogba, but some would have us believe he is our hero now we're willing to splash the cash on his clients, would rather keep Mata and tell him to get stuffed to be honest, soon enough the boot could be on the other foot again with this agent.

Sounds good.

I'm just curious as to the benefit of getting him over say Mahrez.
Mahrez has had one very good season, hes been with Leicester 3 seasons and one of those seasons was in the Championship. Miki has had several god seasons at the top level and is consistent. Miki had one bad season, but the whole Dortmund team had a shocker that season.

Surely it'd be time to dust off the old G Nev classic.....

Micky Ryan is a red, is a red, is a red,
Micky Ryan is a red, he hates Scousers......

.....& he does apparently......

Lol what?!

What is next? Jose will cure cancer?

Not that I think we don't want him but I agree with one of the earlier comments - part of me (the transfer muppet part) wonders whether getting this deal done is to help grease the wheels on a possible Pogba transfer.......we'd have two of his biggest clients on board in Zlatan and Micky R and would most definitely be in Raiola's good books.

Mendes and Raiola, United's very own power couple :nervous:

Blaming agents for players wanting to move is just silly. They are hardly being manipulated into anything. The agent usually has the players full blessing. It was Pogba that made the decision to leave (a very good decision for himself in hindsight)

We are hardly saints when it comes to this sort of thing. Berbatov and Rojo deals come to mind. It's a necessary evil.

Jose doesn't particularly rate Mata and has scoured Micki for months now. I'd rather he gets his man.

Like every manager, even Mourinho doesn't have it all his own way all the time. Did LvGs United not beat Mourinho's Chelsea to Luke Shaws signature? Luke Shaw, supposedly the lifelong Chelsea fan. No manager wins them all.

People don't seem to realise that Ed Woodward is the one who handles transfers, not the manager. They just identify targets.

Yeah, Mourinho will have nothing to do with Raiola or Mendes....

Give over. Managers build relations, and keeping top agents sweet is important nowadays.

You could also look at it as him taking the limelight off the player while forcing a move, so that the player doesn't look disrespectful. Or at least, he looks less disrespectful.

I think we've finally figured out the saga of 2016.

Sneijder, Thiago, Vidal...

How will this one end?

Raiola is so awful

Fergie said I think he and gills would never want to deal with him again. Called him the worst agent they have ever had to deal with.

But yeah half of cafe is ok with him now I guess since he is the agent of their muppet signing of Zlatan.

Didn't he make positive noises about signing for the Scouse sh!te several times when he was with Shaktar? I think he was linked with them again after his poor season at Dortmund too.

I think he's around their level, with our money and Mourinho+Mendes I think we should be aiming for genuine world class talent, I'm sure there's some that wouldn't mind dropping out of the Champions League for a season.

Genuine world class talent won't join us in our current predicament. Teams like PSG etc. can match us for money, whilst being a much more appealing area to live. Barcelona and Madrid etc. are more appealing in terms of prestige and living conditions once again. World class players for the most part play in world class teams, which are in a much better position than us as of now.

I have a feeling Dortmund are going to take a stand here. Like they did with Lewandowski a few years ago. They are back in the CL and they have already lost two important players.

Agreed. Dortmund seems to have decided that they'd rather have the player for one more season, than to get the money from his sale. We should just speak to Dortmund and confirm this, then we plan ahead without Mick. Sign a cheaper option, or give Rashford/Januzaj a chance.

And if Mick is still keen in January, we can sign him on a pre-contract for free. He'll still be only 28, and can play very well in two key positions. What's not to like?

Let's keep Raiola out of this. He's a snake and must be told to stop shouting his mouth in the media or we will end our interest in the player. Discuss with Dortmund and if they say that they want the player to see out his contract, then so be it.

We can't give him up this easily, he is our best option and any other alternative would be a downgrade. We have to stick to our guns here.

Just hope we have other targets if this does not come off. Cannot wait for the euros to finish so we can get back to some full on transfer muppetry. Euros have been dross this year to the point of i am more looking forward to transfer rumours picking up steam rather than watching actual real football.
