I was a fan of him but have to admit he's been mostly terrible this season.

Today's performance is much more like what I came to expect of him, he was excellent. Shame he's been so bad this season because it looked like there was a good player in there.

Very good today. Went outside a few times and caught Trent on the wrong foot doing so. Needs to do that more often instead of turning back on his right all the time

When he plays with confidence and intensity like today, he’s very good. Hopefully he can kick on for the rest of the season. Would still prefer to see him on the right.

I think folks have gone a little overboard, he was good today but still demonstrated his poor decision making quite regularly, from holding on to Salah for about an hour to guarantee getting a yellow, to running into blind alleys looking to shoot when he should have passed.

Better than he has been for a while, no doubt, but still plenty of room for improvement.

Nahh, he was excellent today. Dominated his flank almost singlehandedly.

That's definitely hyperbole, the number of times Salah ran through means it simply can't be true.
Salah was very quiet today. He's literally the best player in the world at the moment and he scored his only goal from the penalty spot after De Ligt forgetting he's not a basketball player.

That's the manager's directive. If a player gets past you, you foul them and take the yellow.

I don't disagree with what you've said. The flipside, though, is that some of the criticism he receives also goes too far.

Weird that today he just all of a sudden decided that he would go on the outside instead of cutting in on his right all the time. It made a massive difference to our play and he put in a few decent balls.Did all right with Salah.

I don't think the manager directed him to get manhandled, but even so he could have avoided the yellow by being more subtle about it, it turned into a bear hug.

He wasn't that quiet, was still heavily involved for Liverpool, was regularly in behind Dalot and in the area.

Dalot did well to contain him as much as he did, but there were still mistakes from him, not as many defensively but plenty going forward.

Agreed, Liverpool were holding onto our players all over the pitch, but did it subtly and rarely were punished. There’s still a naivety about our players, Dalot in particular.
He also gave away a corner needlessly in the first half, which given our current record for conceding from set pieces, was stupid.

First good game in ages. Now most likely goes back to being shit. He is one of these game raising players that annoy me

Much better today. I wish he is told about not taking silly shots from distance anymore, it led to a dangerous Liverpool counter today. Think he conceded another possession from our attacking right side which also led to being countered.

I think he’s to hard to rate currently, sure he’s not been great but he’s playing an entirely new position on the other side of the pitch.

He was good today, his cross to Amad was great and the link up he did right before that was what we’ve been looking for.
Exactly, give him a proper shot at right wingback position and then assess his performances. He’s a confidence player clearly and you can’t question his commitment or work ethic even when it’s not working for him but when he’s on it he’s a good rightback.

I can’t stand him, but credit were it’s due, he was much better today.

Why? He always gives his best, doesn't sulk, and has never disrespected the fans and the club. Seems like a good lad all around, even if he may be a level below what is needed.

Because he generally has the IQ of a plank of wood. His passing is poor and he regularly concedes silly free kicks and corners. But as I said, he was a lot better today. If he can consistently reproduce this kind of form then maybe I’ll change my opinion. Having watched him for so many seasons, I doubt it though.

He was also one of best players in the second half of last season. I wish we would give him a run at RWB, his crosses are really good when he’s playing with confidence. Even with his lapses in performance he still plays full out and atleast try’s, that goes a long way when looking at most of our squad.

Unlikely to see him on the right much as he's the only player who can stay fit and put in a remotely decent performance at left wing back in our squad. He has also played a full season at LWB while at Milan, and he has plenty of good moments. Hopefully he can build off today and find his good form, as he definitely can have a good level from the left still.

Watching the game back on Match of the Day 2. He looked far better today because he was taking TAA on. He looked far more comfortable in the attacking sense today. Huge difference, tbh. I think I appreciate his performance more now after watching it back again.

Would imagine the manager has told him to do that more often - it really makes such a difference

A direct consequence of us doubling our tactical sessions this whole week. I can't understate enough how vital it is that Amorim explains what he wants from Dalot in his system, rather than Dalot just doing stuff on instinct.

This game was the evidence that Amorim has worked on Dalot's movements this week. Naturally no one suddenly just starts doing something in a vacuum.

There is a good player in there, he’s just been played out of position all season because all our other left backs are shit and/or crocked.

Just needs to stop attempting unrealistic shots from outside the box when he could pull it back and reset the play

I agree, personally he has been one of my favourite players over the last few years. Not because I think he's world class, but because I think we've had very few likeable players but I certainly think he's one of them.

Don’t forget holding onto the ball for 3-4 seconds when Amad was already through and behind him and a simple on the floor pass would have been gorgeous

Don't need to make up stuff to criticise him.

It was a perfectly good first time cross on his weaker foot right in the space in between Allison and the penalty spot. Would a ball on the floor been better? Yes but I doubt many players in the world would have been able to deliver that first time on their weaker foot with pace at the right place.

Amad overran and read the flight of the ball entirely wrong.

Played very well yesterday.

I still think we needs to he urgently upgraded on. Even leaving defending aside, we need much more with regards to on the ball quality, from a wingback in general, than Dalot provided.

Hopefully he can maintain this level as it’s been a poor season.
